Got an interesting e-mail from Brian Franzman of reelsportsfan.com.

They’re hosting a viewing of Don Larsen’s perfect game in the 1956 World Series on July 10 in Manhattan. Hall of Fame broadcaster Bob Wolff, who called the game on the radio, will be a special guest.

For more information and a clip of Larsen facing Duke Snider, check out this link..

i always wondered why they never showed this as a Yankee Classic. Does YES not have access to the footage of this for some reason?

Hey Peter shouldnt it say “DON” not “DAN”. Just wondering. You had me googling Dan Larsen, thinking i missed something in history…

Someone gave my old man tickets to that game. He took my mother to it on a date, before they got married. Not a baseball fan, towards the end she was asking, “Why is everyone so quiet?” And of course he couldn’t explain, not wanting to jinx it.

I used to have the ticket stubs – sometime in the 70s, he got Larsen to autograph one – but alas, misplaced them a long time ago.

I really hope this film gets a wide release by Major League Baseball. There are a lot of us outside of NY who would love to watch it from beginning to end. Watching that clip was awesome.

except the homer would have been fair
I too got a Don Larsen autograph when I was about 6
it was on a hard rubber baseball
I’m sure my nephew used it to pratice.
