One thing that may have helped sign him quickly was that he was committed to play college ball here at the University of Kentucky, where coach John Cohen just resigned to take over at Mississippi State. Small factor when it comes to signing with a pro team like the Yankees, but it could have been a factor nonetheless.

As much as I like seeing KY getting commits from talented players, I’ll take them in the Yankees organization instead on any given day.
