even if you lose all the "deadweight" we still have a lineup that can't get it done and we saw that last night. Outside of Wang, our starting pitching is shaky. And as I've said previously, the lineup we saw last night (what I like to call the A list lineup: Damon, Jeter, Abreu, ARod, Giambi, Cano, Melky, Jorge, Matsui) got knocked out of the 1st round of the playoffs last year. So we have fundamental issues with our go-to guys. So its not just the bench and the relievers that need changing - some of our fav players may have to go also. This team needs major reconstruction.

I'm really frustrated with this team.

Cashman really needs to do something. Work the phones. See if we can get C.C. Sabathia for Cano.

What do you guys think about that idea?

(just kidding)

There are a few things that need to be done, NOW, to this roster. Stop lugging along this deadweight. We need to maximize the roster with this team.

1) Send Duncan back to AAA. If he is not going to even be used against LHP, Betemit will fill every role he could possibly fill. He has not had an at bat since May 28. Send him somewhere where he can stay sharp. Bring up Gonzalez in his place as utility and to make Cano focus.

2) Release Hawkins. If you can't use him except in blow outs, he is useless to this team. He is a free agent, just eat his contract already. It's better than losing games. They have so many arms in the minors, bring up someone in his place. Melancon maybe?

3) Send Ohlendorf back down. He is not a long reliever and is being misused as such and pitching really poorly. He shows signs of being good but is too inconsistent. Bring up Patterson in his place, at least he showed some potential and didn't let innings unravel around him.

How can you go around with a 3 man pen (Veras, Ramirez, Rivera) because half the guys in it cannot be trusted in pressure spots?

4) Send Moeller back through waivers. I love him, he's a great back up, but 3 catchers on the roster is a waste since Posada is healthy again. Moeller cleared waivers last time and maybe he will again. He is not even playing and is wasting a spot right now that could go to someone like Gardner, who can pinch run, play some good outfield defense to spell a guy, and who can nudge Melky a bit while he keeps making stupid plays like sliding into first base. Gardner would fit well at the bottom of the lineup with great speed and a good OBP.

5)Use Giese as the long reliever. Joba is at 95 pitches, no more piggybacking needed. Start using him on a more consistent basis to eat up some innings. It's astounding how with guys going out there consistently for 3 or 4 innings we continued to have no long reliever available out of the pen. Giese is in his 30's, he's not developing. You can afford to use him as such. 2 or 3 innings every 2 or 3 days would save the pen big time.

How can you expect to win with so much deadweight on the roster? They have to maximize the roster to maximize their chances of winning.

.331

Cano's SLG is lower than his OBP was last season.

This is not a slow start anymore. Something is seriously wrong with this kid. Something has to be done. What I don't know, but this is unexcusable at this point.

We have seen it threw the years but this lineup has alot of quitters. As soon as they go down by 3-4 runs they give up. Cano and Melky 80% of the time has useless at bats, alot of the others just give up assuming that the game is over. I feel like alot of them just don't show alot of fight or belief that they can come back. They just give up right away...Very soon we just have to realize that the team is just not good and they will win 85 games this year and that is all. A .500 team is exactly what they look like..some nights they look good but most of them they are not good.
