Is this a possible audition for Randy Wolfe?

  2. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708 June 16th, 2008 at 10:24 pm

    Could be.

Also I think it should be mentioned that the Padre starters eras are probably a little lower than they’d be normally because Petco is such a pitcher’s park.

  3. PJH June 16th, 2008 at 10:25 pm

Does interleague play really bring in that much extra revenue? I really dont think its a big difference.

  4. BBFan June 16th, 2008 at 10:25 pm

Interestingly, if you go by ERA, all the matchups favor Padres.
Hopefully Yankee Offense will make the difference.

  5. gary June 16th, 2008 at 10:26 pm

imagine how much more trouble we’d be in if Joba was not starting… Hoping CMW heals well and pitches some meaningful games in September. If I remember correctly he had a hurt shoulder a two years back after the all-star game and healed quickly. Hopefully IPK takes this opportunity and runs with it.

Funny – Randy Wolf has been mentioned as a possible trade-bait option in light of the Wanger going down.

What about Erik Bedard? He has pitched in the AL East effectively. He pitched 7 and beat Boston 1-0 earlier this year – in another game vs. BS he went 5 and they lost 2-1.

He’s under 30 years old, and a LEFTY who should cost a lot less than CC and the music factory.

  7. TKinDC June 16th, 2008 at 10:27 pm

Oh yeah – and the Seattle GM just got fired for being a total moron so maybe the new guy will want to go in another direction and pick up some prospects – but not commit highway robbery.

  8. Patrick Bateman June 16th, 2008 at 10:27 pm

Peavy vs Rasner…..not thats a lopsided matchup.

  9. Steph June 16th, 2008 at 10:31 pm

The Mariners might be a bit more willing to trade Bedard because of Bavasi being fired, but I think they’ll still ask for a good amount for him considering all that they gave up to get him. As you said, he’s a lefty, and those are hot commodities for anyone.

Some of the Padres’ ERAs are doubtlessly skewed because of the Petco difference. This should be an interesting series for the Yankees.

  10. bphill June 16th, 2008 at 10:32 pm

If you missed the earlier threads, Bedard would be horrible.

I don’t remember who so I am sorry to this reader that I am using their arguments, but why would Seattle be trading a pitcher they got 5 months ago? They said Bedard has horrible attitude problems and is a horrible teammate, and he has bad hip problems.

  11. PJH June 16th, 2008 at 10:36 pm

I had mentioned Bedard erlier when I was throwing around some names. He is signed longterm (i think), as was stated previously was a good pitcher in the AL East and to top it all off he is Lefty.

How about Ichiro, Bedard for Melky, Kennedy and Cano?

  12. Scorpio June 16th, 2008 at 10:37 pm

Bedard doesn’t want to pitch in NYC, when he was shopped around in the off season that was reported plus, baseball’s not even Bedards first love. You really think a pitcher like that will last in the Yankee org?

  13. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708 June 16th, 2008 at 10:38 pm

Bedard doesn’t have the tempermant for New York.

Imagine an emo version of Randy Johnson.

Oops I post this response here

Berkman, Lee and Tejada were not a problem for Joba. Why are the Padres’ hitters any different?

This is not all just about Joba this is for the Yankees rotation that will take on SD, Don’t take them for granted.

Gonzalez is actually a better hitter than his stats show. He plays in a pitchers park that holds alot of his would be runs. See here is when a team’s play makes it look like thier players suck.

    Adrian Gonzalez
    RISP: .305/.376/.610

    RISP in June: .421/.522/.737

    Brian Giles has a .410 OBP % he’s hitting .304 overall

RISP: .273/.432/.473… that .432 OBP % is gonna be a pain

Giles is batting .359 in his last 10 games

Jody Gerut is batting .371 in his last 10 games
    RISP: .435/.500/.652
    RISP in June : .750/.778/.750

Don’t take this team for granted. They are actually a quite fiesty team and a damn good defense.

  15. PJH June 16th, 2008 at 10:40 pm

If I was on a team that was 25-49, I think I might have an attitude problem.

  16. Jorge Tabata June 16th, 2008 at 10:41 pm

No doubt.. Petco does skew the stats.

Wolf at home: 4-1; 2.45 ERA
Wolf on the road: 1-4; 5.31

Peavy at home: 3-2; 1.26 ERA
Peavy on road: 2-1; 5.40 ERA

Banks was a guy released by Toronto last year, we faced him once as a reliever.

  17. TKinDC June 16th, 2008 at 10:41 pm

    bphill –

The reason he had attitude problems, – or to be accurate – the reason the O’s labeled him as a guy with attitude problems is that he was tired of playing on a crappy O’s team where there was no offense or bullpen.

Since the O’s are close to here they get covered pretty close in the papers – Angelos was trying to get Bedard to commit to a long-term deal and being cheap. So they bad-mouthed him.

The hips injury is a legit concern – who knows? But he has had some great outings this year mixed in with some mediocre.

  18. Scorpio June 16th, 2008 at 10:41 pm

I don’t think C.C. has the makeup for New York either. People keep ranking on Wang for his terrible postseason but C.C. wasn’t that sharp either.

It’s a rebuilding year, I hope Cashman looks within the org, I’m a fan that can live with not making the post season this year.

  19. PJH June 16th, 2008 at 10:42 pm

Im not too worried about the Padres. Im confident we can get at least 2 of 3.

  20. Blargh June 16th, 2008 at 10:43 pm

The Mariners gave up a bounty just to get Bedard in the first place. It can’t possibly be cheap to get him so soon, unless the next Mariners GM reaaaaally wants him outta there.

  21. TKinDC June 16th, 2008 at 10:44 pm

“plus, baseball’s not even Bedards first love.”

What was her name then? :) – seriously, you believe that stuff?

Angelos would not have traded him in division – he hates the Yankees (despite the fact we fill up his stadium)

  22. Brandon (supporting "Alex being Alex") (Jose Tabata Supporter 4 Life !!!!) June 16th, 2008 at 10:45 pm

Im not too worried about the Padres. Im confident we can get at least 2 of 3.

You better be they are not as bad as they look and are fighting for a playoff spot too.

  23. PJH June 16th, 2008 at 10:46 pm

Andy is a completely different player at home as opposed to on the road.

    1-3 6.25 home
    5-2 3.51 away

That 10 run game really blew up his home ERA but he has had trouble at home.

  24. Brandon (supporting "Alex being Alex") (Jose Tabata Supporter 4 Life !!!!) June 16th, 2008 at 10:47 pm

That 10 run game really blew up his home ERA but he has had trouble at home.

The RHB are blowing up his ERA, he needs to spot his pitches better from now on.

  25. Al from BK June 16th, 2008 at 10:50 pm

I smell a sweep or at the bare minimum a win of this series. Andy under the bright lights after Wang went down for the year I see a big game out if him remember last week he coulda had a CG if not for Girardi.

  26. EY June 16th, 2008 at 10:50 pm

LOL no way Ichiro’s ever getting moved. That’ll destroy the franchise.

  27. Brandon (supporting "Alex being Alex") (Jose Tabata Supporter 4 Life !!!!) June 16th, 2008 at 10:51 pm

One thing about Andy that he needs to stop doing and that goes for Rasner too, they need to stop nibbling. I see alot w/ them 0-2 count instead of putting away the hitter w/ a jam pitch in his hands they waste offspeed pitches on the outside corner and end up throwing it down the middle when they miss the spot. I hope they stop doing that otherwise the BP will be warming up by the 4th inning.

  28. Brandon (supporting "Alex being Alex") (Jose Tabata Supporter 4 Life !!!!) June 16th, 2008 at 10:53 pm

Jared Weaver is throwing beach balls to Carlos Beltran

  29. Abepeter June 16th, 2008 at 10:55 pm

Why did they switch Rasner and Pettitte? Rasner has been going the day before Pettitte. Now he’s going the day after. Pettitte gets Wolfe and Rasner gets Peavy?? Is that good?

  30. PJH June 16th, 2008 at 10:56 pm

Brandon- I watched Andy stop nibbling against Jose Guillen and he hit it 400 feet…. twice.

  31. Scorpio June 16th, 2008 at 10:56 pm

Bedard has said that he preferred not to pitch in major media cities like NYC & Boston. Why get a guy who doesn’t want to be here. Why would that be hard to believe?

He’s Canadian, hockey’s his first love but his talent was in bb so he ran with it. Same thing with Tom Glavine, he wanted to be a hockey star but alas…no.

  32. Al from BK June 16th, 2008 at 10:58 pm

The two best hitters in the Pads line-up are lefties Agonz and Giles will not get on a roll against Dandy Andy.

  33. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708 June 16th, 2008 at 10:58 pm

Don’t take the Padres for granted.

  34. TKinDC June 16th, 2008 at 11:00 pm

This is from a Seattle Times blog –

“Might be time for the M’s to begin planning a second deal, one that gets them back at least 70 cents on the dollar type value. Better than waiting too long and getting in that game a little late. Yes, it’s early, but Bedard’s best trade value might be this July 31 or next winter.

Basically, I feel the same as Geoff, but I don’t think the Mariners are willing to go 70 cents on the dollar with Bedard.”

  35. mel June 16th, 2008 at 11:00 pm

A little late to the party, but ESPN radio, as recent as an hour ago, is reporting that CMW has a partially torn ligament and sprained foot. Seems like that confirms what Girardi said last night without the benefit of an MRI.

  36. Al from BK June 16th, 2008 at 11:02 pm

A pitcher like Bedard should seriously retire if you cant play in a big market because your afraid of pressure thats simply pathetic. Quit the game that made you all of your money and go play in independant league hockey if it is truly your favorite sport what a disgrace. Its hard to believe that there are guys who would kill to throw one pitch in the bigs and guys like Bedard act like its their job not a thing they enjoy.

how do you tear a ligament running bases?

I’ve never heard of this. And there has been interleague play for 12 years.

  40. Abepeter June 16th, 2008 at 11:05 pm

Don’t know if this was mentioned earlier… Karstens was roughed up a little in AAA 3er in 5 innings (taking the loss- 1-3 with a 5.8 era). White was hammered with 6runs in relief

Dude was that a joke dont be a pessimist I think its the other way around there is a reason the padres are well under .500 in the NL.

  42. TKinDC June 16th, 2008 at 11:07 pm

Where is the link to the source that Bedard said he’d rather play hockey?

  43. AeroFANatic June 16th, 2008 at 11:11 pm

Pettite was moved up one day to keep him on his regular rest. Andy and Rasner flipped spots.

  44. GreenBeret7 June 16th, 2008 at 11:17 pm

Rebecca, Wolf is not the answer. His home numbers (ERA) is twice as low as his road numbers. Same numberof games and innings, more hits, walks and runs on the road and fewer strikeouts. Homers aren’t bad 4 at home 3 on the road.

  45. bphill June 16th, 2008 at 11:19 pm

I am really intrigued by Derek Lowe, I know he is not on the market, but he knows what is like in the AL east, and his sinker, is much like Wangs.

Wild swingers are the exception to that rule PJH.

  47. Frank Discussion June 16th, 2008 at 11:21 pm

The following is a quote from Bedard on why he chose baseball over hockey…

“Hockey was too expensive. Skates are $500, and when you’re younger, you have to buy new equipment every year. Baseball was cheaper, and I had some friends playing, so that helped. A pair of cleats costs 50 bucks, so it’s not so bad when you have to get a new pair. A glove costs 100 bucks tops, and that’s a good one when you’re young. I had a signature Ken Griffey Jr. glove that lasted me a couple of years.”

  48. Brandon (supporting "Alex being Alex") (Jose Tabata Supporter 4 Life !!!!) June 16th, 2008 at 11:25 pm

I am really intrigued by Derek Lowe, I know he is not on the market, but he knows what is like in the AL east, and his sinker, is much like Wangs.

And the Dodgers would ask for one of these

    A. Matsui
    B. Cano
    C. Abreu

  49. PJH June 16th, 2008 at 11:25 pm

    ER- Go play in traffic.

  50. bphill June 16th, 2008 at 11:27 pm

I want to know what the asking price is for Lowe

Lowe is a FA at the end of this year

Why not try to get him, he knows the AL East

His asking price can’t be that high.

  51. PJH June 16th, 2008 at 11:27 pm

Brandon- Derek Lowe is 4-6 with a 4 ERA. This is not Boaton 2002 Derek Lowe. There is no way they can get Matsui, Cano or Abreu for Lowe.

  52. Mark (Free Brett Campaign) June 16th, 2008 at 11:28 pm

Will the Yanks call up a player in Wang’s place for tomorrow? I hope Robertson gets his chance.

  53. AeroFANatic June 16th, 2008 at 11:29 pm

    Fellas -

We have plenty of organizational depth to tide us over during Wang’s downtime. We have the pieces.

The move RIGHT NOW is not to panic, and sell the farm for a starter.
The move RUGHT NOW is not to panic, and sign some journey man.

The move is to promote from within. Giese takes over for Wang to start, with a call-up for David Robertson who has been lights out in Scranton. Put Wang or Allabadejo on the 60 day DL to make room on the 40 for Robertson.

Then, we give Giese a few starts to see how he does. If he does great, he stays. If not, he is optioned down for Kennedy.

This isnt the end of our season and in fact, may be a blessing in disguise getting some stud arms (Robertson, Melancon, Cox?) for our Bullpen.

Peavy vs Rasner…..not thats a lopsided matchup.

yeah – Peavy is a BALLER…. very good pitcher that doesn’t get as much credit as he deserves being on the West Coast (and he still gets a ton). Rasner is going to be fine though and the Yankees can get to Peavy, just like they got to Oswalt yesterday – Rasner will keep us in the game and give the offense a chance to win it, that’s all you can ask of him

  55. Bob June 16th, 2008 at 11:30 pm

Adrian Gonzalez hitting at Yankee Stadium could be scary.
Check out his home/away splits. They’re crazy.

    Petco: .260/.345/.479

    Road: .328/.372/.635

  56. Fat Free June 16th, 2008 at 11:32 pm

Baseball Tonight is ripping Hank for his comments, calling Hank a sissy.

I have to say they got a point – how do you break your foot running bases.

  57. Brandon (supporting "Alex being Alex") (Jose Tabata Supporter 4 Life !!!!) June 16th, 2008 at 11:33 pm

Brandon- Derek Lowe is 4-6 with a 4 ERA. This is not Boaton 2002 Derek Lowe. There is no way they can get Matsui, Cano or Abreu for Lowe.

Oh yes they can, he’s an established starter that has given good innings. The market operates on needs and wants, Joe Torre has been trying to get the Dodgers to acquire Hideki Matsui for some time now. The Dodgers in trading Lowe would want a ML ready bat that can contribute in the heart of the order. A guy like Matsui is a vet Torre can build the line up around, Robi Cano someone Dodger fans have called LA talk radio about they’d want a young bat w/ his upside and Abreu would be same reason as Matsui.

  58. Fat Free June 16th, 2008 at 11:36 pm

I’m for trading ‘Zilla for Tim Lincecum.

  59. Bob June 16th, 2008 at 11:36 pm

What’s everyone so worried about getting a replacement for Wang for anyways?

All I’ve heard for the past couple seasons is how he’s not an ace.

Should be pretty easy to find someone to do what he did then.

  60. PJH June 16th, 2008 at 11:36 pm

I have an idea. What would you guys think about making a rule so that in interleague play, a backup catcher can run for the pitcher, and that pitcher can re-enter the game. This would stop pitchers who are not used to running the bases from getting injured, while not giving the teams a distinct advantage by being able to put a fast runner in.
I think it would be interesting.

  61. JoeT 28 in 09!! June 16th, 2008 at 11:37 pm

they might ask for those players – but if the Yankees give up Abreu, Cano, or Matsui for Derek Lowe I will go to the bronx and beat Cashman with his own stupidity (does that make any sense?.. eh, i’m sticking with it)

  62. bphill June 16th, 2008 at 11:38 pm

my guess: the dodgers ask for marquez and betances for Lowe.

are you guys serious matsui? the yankees would not do that considering he is 4th in the AL batting right now and our 2nd best avg. hitter behind damon.

  63. PJH June 16th, 2008 at 11:40 pm

Brandon- Youre misinformed if you think a 35 year old, aging pitcher pitcher with a 4+ era in the National League is worth an all star player. Not to mention the 10 million dollars he is making. If the Yankees make a trade for Derek Lowe with any one of those players involved it would be the worst trade since Victor Zambrano for Scott Kazmir.

  64. whozat June 16th, 2008 at 11:41 pm

“Oh yes they can, he’s an established starter that has given good innings. The market operates on needs and wants”

Matsui’s still a well above-average bat. A two month rental of a starter with a 4 ERA in the NL is not worth Matsui, or Abreu. You want to put together a deal around Matsui and some prospects for Lowe and LaRoche (for 1B)…that’s a deal I start thinking about. Maybe.

  65. Scorpio June 16th, 2008 at 11:43 pm

Bob, LOL. Totally agree. Shouldn’t be too hard to replace a 19 game winning non-ace that can pitch in a media intense city like NY. Shouldn’t be hard at all.

  66. JoeT 28 in 09!! June 16th, 2008 at 11:47 pm

whozat – good call – if all-star names are going to be involved, we better get all-star names in return… we’re not looking to dump players here – the Yankees would be worse off with Lowe in the rotation and the hole that losing one of those three causes

  67. Fat Free June 16th, 2008 at 11:50 pm

why would the dodgers trade Lowe?

Well, everyone knows Torre doesn’t like young pitchers like Lowe. The kid is only 35.

  68. Confucius June 16th, 2008 at 11:50 pm

“I’m for trading ‘Zilla for Tim Lincecum.”

Only if they include Matt Cain as well. We’ll give them Igawa to sweeten the deal a bit.

    I’d run w/ that.

P.S. Why is it that posters here don’t check the needs of other teams before they make a proposal. If you want Lowe you have to know the Dodgers want offense in return, What do you think they’re just going to give him away for free ?

  70. Fat Free June 16th, 2008 at 11:56 pm

Solve from within first and don’t BS us w/ Jeff Karstens or Kei Igawa those 2 do not deserve any ML start at all. Marquez has been pitching quite well and is on the 40 man, Horne has pitched well in start #2 and McCutchen just pitched a CG shut out his last start. Another guy is Alfredo Aceves, Patrick Teale saids his control is good and at times can top out at 95 mph he certainly is a smart pitcher who loves competition and steps up in tight spots so who knows his one kryptonite so far has been 10 AM games, other than that he’s been very good.

  75. Aaron(a REAL Yankee fan) June 17th, 2008 at 12:17 am

is the Aceves guy the diamond in the rough?
i agree w. Karstens and Igawa, the both blow..

  77. JoeT 28 in 09!! June 17th, 2008 at 12:21 am

Brandon – 40 Man roster spot isn’t really a big deal and shouldn’t factor into it. Moller will be off it real soon and Wang can go on the 60 day DL

  78. whozat June 17th, 2008 at 12:23 am

    “Another guy is Alfredo Aceves”

Let’s see him get a shot at AAA first. Not sure who leaves the rotation for him…if Giese can’t hack it as a starter and the call up one of the other guys, then maybe Aceves gets his shot. He certainly seems ready for it.

As for the roster spot in the bigs…Britton can come off the DL wednesday. Do you bring up Robertson for a day? Patterson for a day? Or, bring up Robertson/Patterson for a while and send poor Britton back to AAA?

  79. whozat June 17th, 2008 at 12:24 am

He has shot up quite quickly but he’s in his late 20′s I think he’s 26 yrs. old

Here’s Mike Ashmore’s thoughts on him in one of his starts

Aceves faced the minimum through six…Of the 23 batters he faced, he got ahead of 17 of them, including a stretch of 10 in a row starting in the second inning…He had four three-ball counts on the night…I kept the pitch count, so it’s possible I may have missed one or two with 84 other things I have going on.

In case you missed it, there are NUMEROUS videos of Aceves and several photos in the game thread. His radar gun readings are in there as well.

As for the roster spot in the bigs…Britton can come off the DL wednesday.
    True

Do you bring up Robertson for a day? Patterson for a day? Or, bring up Robertson/Patterson for a while and send poor Britton back to AAA?

Why do I picture you laughing when you say this

  82. G. Love June 17th, 2008 at 12:37 am

I really believe that we can win a world series this year.

It’s so important to fill this hole that Wang has created.

The league is wide open this year. The Red Sox are battling health issues and they have their own issues with their team.

The rest of the AL doesn’t scare me. I think the offense is back for us now.

I just hope they can piece this thing together until they find a Wang replacement.

After last season’s disappointing ending, a season where I honestly felt we would win the world series with Joba setting up Mo, I would love to see this team take advantage of the overall parity in the league.

We’ve got the guys who know how to win. We just need to give them the pieces to round this team out.

The rotation is our glaring weakness. I hope it gets fixed.

anybody get that I know how you feel feeling watching the Angels do this comeback vs the Mets :?

  84. Pierce - 2008 Best Actress Academy Award June 17th, 2008 at 12:38 am

Aceves has been in a league that is very much like the level of play of AAA. His age could factor well for giving him a shot. Even if its for trade purposes, though if he does well enough for back of the rotation then he could be a keeper.

Patterson might get a shot being that he was already up, but I wasn’t impressed with his pitching. He has a strange delivery, it may work OK for a bit, but I wonder about his consistancy.

Robertson another possible, but I think Aceves should get a shot because of his prior experience which – while not in our AAA level, he was tested and did well.

    Poor Britton gets no love!

  86. Buddy Biancalana June 17th, 2008 at 12:40 am

Will Willie survive the 7th inning?

  87. S.A.- No pain..no gain June 17th, 2008 at 12:40 am

What the hell. It’s 8-6 now in favor of the Mets?
    Um..uh oh

  88. Brandon (supporting "Alex being Alex") (Jose Tabata Supporter 4 Life !!!!) June 17th, 2008 at 12:43 am

It started w/ 2 BB then a hard single, another single up the middle then a double by Garret Anderson in the gap, we’ve been there. God help Willie this inning.

  89. Aaron(a REAL Yankee fan) June 17th, 2008 at 12:47 am

i wanna see aceves now, haha

  90. Pierce - 2008 Best Actress Academy Award June 17th, 2008 at 12:49 am

Vlad and Torri gave him the help he needed. Swinging at pitches way outside the strike zone. Otherwise the Angels would be one run down and bases loaded, one out.

Willie might be thanking them for saving his job for another day…

  91. Pierce - 2008 Best Actress Academy Award June 17th, 2008 at 12:49 am

Hey, what better person to replace the lost Ace than ACEves!

  92. Brandon (supporting "Alex being Alex") (Jose Tabata Supporter 4 Life !!!!) June 17th, 2008 at 12:55 am

I think Duaner will pitch a scoreless inning here. He’s going against the bottom of the lineup, Wagner vs the top 3 is gonna hard to watch for some Willie/Mets fans

  93. Pierce - 2008 Best Actress Academy Award June 17th, 2008 at 12:59 am

Got the first part right, Brandon. I have to wonder how many Rolaids Willie is going to be eating to close out the 9th.

  94. whozat June 17th, 2008 at 1:00 am

“Why do I picture you laughing when you say this”

More shaking my head at the plight of poor, pudgy, Chris Britton. It was so convenient that he went on the DL just in time to get back their long reliever for Joba’s second shortened start…

I just think he can help the team, if he can get some consistent outings in the bigs. He’s done a solid job before.

  95. Brandon (supporting "Alex being Alex") (Jose Tabata Supporter 4 Life !!!!) June 17th, 2008 at 1:02 am

Girardi is a strict guy when it comes to weight ?

  96. Pierce - 2008 Best Actress Academy Award June 17th, 2008 at 1:07 am

With Girardi banning foods of certain types from the clubhouse, I would think that he would form a bias against any who isn’t fit. Funny thing though, Abreu, Damon and Melky all look like they gained a few pounds since he did that. They are definitely heavier since ST. That is tough to do during the season.

  97. Brandon (supporting "Alex being Alex") (Jose Tabata Supporter 4 Life !!!!) June 17th, 2008 at 1:07 am

Wagner has this one in the bag, 3 run lead get the save fool.

  98. Pierce - 2008 Best Actress Academy Award June 17th, 2008 at 1:08 am

That Reyes run might help save Willie for another day.

I would say quite the opposite.

  100. Brandon (supporting "Alex being Alex") (Jose Tabata Supporter 4 Life !!!!) June 17th, 2008 at 1:10 am

3 run lead and no one on base, No Chance he screws up here.

  101. JoeT 28 in 09!! June 17th, 2008 at 1:11 am

i’m going to sleep – I suspect when I wake up Willie will not be the manager of the Mets…. hopefully he’ll be our third base coach by then!!

I really think the Mets need to get rid of Omar though – Omar put together a bad team, not Willie

  102. RyanM June 17th, 2008 at 1:12 am

are you sure Maddux isn’t pitching, since he didn’t pitch today due to a rainout?

  103. S.A.- No pain..no gain June 17th, 2008 at 1:15 am

Willie safe for at least another day.

Brandon, look at the paunch on Damon and Abreu next game. Neither had that at the beginning of the season. Melky’s face is not as slim as it was to start the season either, even though he wears his uniform a bit baggy, he has gained weight.

  112. Fat Free June 17th, 2008 at 1:48 am

Why is Willie’s head on the chopping block?

    The Mets are at .500

    We need you.

    Randolph was fired :(

  118. Rick June 17th, 2008 at 7:13 am

On Saturday night I saw Austin Jackson play in Reading PA. He looked good though he needs work yet. He hit a rocket of a homerun. Pena, the Thunder’s shortstop looked good too. Tabata looks kind of lost at this level. The yankees are going to get a few really good players out of their farm system in the next few years. We have to be patient for those days.

  119. berniewilliams June 17th, 2008 at 9:54 am

trading matsui for derek lowe would be retarded… matsui is way to solid, we should hold on to him for a while. Meanwhile lowe would be an old horrible acquisition.

Bedard is one of the better AL pitchers when he is healthy, i think we should toss cano or melky along with some young pitchers (not IPK or hughes obviously). This is all assuming that nobody steps up in the rotation in the next month or so. obviously cash wouldnt rush into it, but its a solid option.

  120. Mitoman June 17th, 2008 at 12:17 pm

I’d never trade Matsui, money wise he brings half of Japanese audience, skill wise hes young and fast, why would you trade him in the first place?
