WOW!! You’re getting bent out of shape and thinking the Yanks and Girardi look ridiculous because Joe said it was a sprain.

First, I’m a huge NY fan and it doesn’t bother me. I’m smart enough to know that just because they say one thing, it doesn’t mean that after they do tests the result can be something else or more severe. That’s why they do the tests. If they “knew” what the injury was, why do the MRI?

Second, living in Ohio I am surrounded by fans that hate, and I mean HATE, the Yankees. But not one single person has ripped them for calling it a sprain.

So, fans don’t seem to mind and haters apparently don’t care. What’s your beef?

I love how reporters have a sense of entitlement. Newsflash….the Yankees DON’T have to come clean with you Pete. You are a writer, not the owner.

Furthermore, what is Joe supposed to say….he’s out for the year and we are totally dead now…so feel free to ask for 10 of our best prospects on every deal…we are desperate! Of course he’s going to play it down. This IS a business Pete.

i enjoyed Pete’s post until he appended his apparently obligatory whining about how the Yankees don’t communicate injuries in the way he’d prefer.

i mean when you’re complaining that the Yanks don’t announce the details until the MRI provides the details, it reveals you have a petty axe to grind.

the ESPN guys last nite were talking about Cashman being interested possibly in the new GM position in Seattle after his contract is up in NY.

Could this be true? All the convincing he’s had to do to stick with the program and build from within and he’d leave it to someone else and go to, of all dreadful places, Seattle?

While we may only need a 5th starter a few times, we didn’t lose a 5th starter, we lost a guy who routinely goes 7-8 innings plus usually wins. Over the next 6 weeks, what will be the impact on the bullpen? That is the short term problem, really.

Hey Ellen,
If you watched the Yankees post game show you could tell that Girardi thought it was a significant injury too, but wasn’t going to speculate until the MRI was completed. You didn’t have to hear Girardi say it to know that something bad happened.
