I didn't like the home run at all (I think everyone including Joe agrees on that) but he did bounce back afterwards (instead of faltering) and got the next three batters out (IIRC). Why dwell on that one mistake when it didn't harm the team? Why would someone expect the manager to call out his player in that situation.

If its 5-4 and it ends up costing us the game, maybe but even then I would be wary of the manager calling out the player to the public, what good would that do? Not to mention every player on the team has failed to come through when needed more than once. Do you expect Joe to do that for every player when it happens? That's one way to get the team moral down.

I think the complaint is - if the score was still 5-4 Yanks in the 8th, and Farns gives up that homer - and they ended up losing 6-5, would you still call his performance OK? It's like having a car that leaks gas, oil, and air from it's tires and falls apart along your drive but it gets you to your destination... barely. There's always a risk with that kind of car and you're always better off getting a car that works like it's supposed to. Farnsworth - is a risk and always will be.

I don't get the complaints:

Over Joe for calling Edwar Eddie? That seems like a common nickname for his given name. I would hate to see Joe call Alex, Alexander or Bobby Bob instead of using their nicknames.

I don't get the complaints because Joe didn't throw his pitchers under the bus. We all know that Farns is not getting the job done as 8th inning man. Do you really need for Joe to say it just to vaildate your opinion? And technically he did do okay besides that home run.

The only way Girardi gets concerned if Farnsworthless throws a wild pitch that his Girardi in the jewels. And that is not entirely out of the realm of possibilty when F-worthless is concerned.

Yup. Only the title of a Journey song could describe the relationship between Girardi and Farnsworth.

Why doesn't Girardi just marry Fransworth already. He see no problem in giving up homeruns.

"If this is true, it may factor into whether Cleveland deals CC before deadline even if they think they are out of contention this season.

That’s just the opposite losing Fausto means to stay in the race they can’t let go of CCunless it is a big package return deal."

Brandon, not sure what you meant by opposite. I think if they lose Carmona they will keep CC for future seasons even if they think he can't make the PO this year.

If there is anything positive to take away from this, it is that only solo shots were hit. We didn't walk anybody, and we held the lead. Yes, these two guys are prone to the gopher ball, but these shots tonight may have been a product the bullpen philosophy of throwing strikes.
