You're dead wrong about Mayo. I saw him play many times at USC this past season. He's not only a great talent but a good kid and very respectful person (the NCAA investigation notwithstanding, which I believe will not find one shred of evidence that Mayo accepted any benefits). Jay Bilas said tonight that Mayo is the most ready of any of the draftees to make an immediate impact in the NCA.

Your comments seem logical and I agree with most of them. Let's say you have the Yanks GM's ear, what would you tell to do to fix this team for this year and after season?

hahah i know. i almost feel bad for him, he plays the side wall nicely, he clearly just has an innate fear of running without looking

abreu is just afraid to run at the wall. but that is pretty crucial in rf.

That was hilarious last night 6th inning 2 outs and Bobby tracks a ball in RF the minute I saw the wall I said "oh forget about a catch here keep it a double", because you could already see him pulling up and bracing for the wall.

"owever, unproven prospects (no matter how good they are projected to be) will always be less valuable than the proven guy."

That depends on how good the proven guy is.

Fredo:

Ok, thought you were talking money. However, unproven prospects (no matter how good they are projected to be) will always be less valuable than the proven guy. Of course, teams could always shoot for the moon.
