Bobby was just great. I knew him briefly when I was a classmate with his older brother, Duane, at Southeast Jr.-Sr. Highschool in about 1958.

Duane and I played baseball also and we were 3 years older than Bobby. His whole family was great and hard workers.

I am sure Bobby’s spirit will arrive at the very best place.

P.S. I love his book – it’s a great read. Brings back some great memories from when I was a kid and learned alot of things about the Yankees & baseball I never knew.

I was suppose to meet him at book signing here in NJ, he cancelled. Now I know why he did. I knew he had cancer, but did not know it got this bad. All my best to him and his family. Get well soon! We miss hearing your voice on the YES network.

To me Bobby Murcer is right up there with Lou Gehrig in my mind when I think about what it means to be a Yankee. There is not a mean bone in his body and he “oozes” class and dignity. There is not a better ambassador for the New York Yankess and for baseball as a whole than Bobby Murcer. God bless you Bobby and I will get down on my knees and pray for you and your family in this time of pain and suffering. You are very much missed and this summer has not been as joyful witout your insights and humor on the Yankee broadcasts. Get well quickly! We miss you!

My thoughts and prayers are with the Murcer family during this difficult time.
Hard to believe that it has been 26+ years since my father took me to see the Yankees play the Orioles at the Stadium and we headed into the bottom of 9 with the Yankees down 4-3. In between innings, I was pretty bummed about a potential Yankees loss. My dad looked at me and said “Don’t worry about it. Bobby Murcer is going to get up and hit a home run to win it for the Yankees!” Sure enough, Bobby hit a 3-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to win the game 6-4. What a great memory. Keep fighting, Bobby!
