Free Bon Jovi tickets are still too expensive.

  3. Nick in SF July 1st, 2008 at 11:39 pm

Ugh, even the morons in Bon Jovi would have had Melky bunt.

No offense to any Bon Jovi fans. I’m sure they’re not actually morons. I’m just grouchy.

Nobody who has made as much money as they have with so little talent should be called morons. lol

I sat behind JBJ & crew at a Yankee game once in left field. Bernie hit a bomb that flew over our heads & everyone jumped to see if we could catch it, not JBJ, he didn’t even flinch.

Always thought that was strange. He didn’t cheer either.

  7. zach July 1st, 2008 at 11:42 pm

why not have jeter hit for betemit in the 1st place, he could have ran on his own

  8. Nick in SF July 1st, 2008 at 11:47 pm

At least Bon Jovi let Triumph the Insult Comic Dog insult them onstage. ‘You give poop a bad name’.

But yeah, bashing tonight’s Yankee game is more interesting to me than Bon Jovi.

  9. zach July 1st, 2008 at 11:50 pm

“Sorry to interrupt your bashing of the team, but some of you may be interested in this release from the Yankees:”

good point Pete – I tried to stay optimistic throughout the game but I absolutely lost it when Melky didn’t bunt and then the GIDP…. worst baseball i’ve seen possibly ever

  11. TKinDC July 1st, 2008 at 11:53 pm

    Bon Jovi?

    Haven’t we suffered enough?

    :(

  12. RockinDaBronx July 1st, 2008 at 11:56 pm

Bon Jovi, words can not describe how atrocious they are, only band worse is Coldplay the Dane Cook of the music world.

  13. Buddy Biancalana July 2nd, 2008 at 12:00 am

Dane Cook, that guy I do not get at all.

  14. S.A.- No pain..no gain! I still believe in this team July 2nd, 2008 at 12:06 am

Well, Bon Jovi should be a bit more enjoyable than the Yankees right now.

  15. David Robertson for Setup July 2nd, 2008 at 12:11 am

Countdown till Melky is sent down is starting

  16. DFox July 2nd, 2008 at 12:19 am

“Countdown till Melky is sent down is starting”

OK, but I just think first they should wait until Gardner has 1 career hit to his name or draws a walk. Unless reaching base on a fielders choice is the only prerequisite, that is.

  17. John Hay July 2nd, 2008 at 12:25 am

    Screw Bon Jovi.

  18. David Robertson for Setup July 2nd, 2008 at 12:28 am

Did he ground into a DP in the 9th inning in a HUGE situation? Melky cant cut it. Hes old news bra. Not to mention Gardner shouldnt be batting 1st or 2nd just yet, and should be in a lineup that looks like this

    Damon-CF
    Jeter-SS
    Abreu-RF
    Rodriguez-3B
    Giambi-1B
    Matsui-DH(when he comes back)
    Posada-C
    Cano-2B
    Gardner-CF

    Ideal post-Allstar break lineup

  19. DFox July 2nd, 2008 at 12:37 am

So you’re going to replace the outfielder who is slumping with the guy who is career 0/6? I’d much rather have Melky in center if both of them are going to go 0/x anyway… Is there a reason that Gardner can’t prove himself in left field first? This guy’s game is supposed to be built a lot on drawing walks but I doubt he’s going to draw many if pitcher’s don’t think he can hit the ball. Melky might look awful now, but sorry to ruin the bashing, he’s a .265-.270 hitter, so when Gardner becomes a .265 hitter he can take the spot.

  20. David Robertson for Setup July 2nd, 2008 at 12:45 am

Melky is 0 for his last 15. Statistically. Thats worse than 0-6. Thanks though.

Note of interest. Melky has no dipped below Cano AVG wise

  21. David Robertson for Setup July 2nd, 2008 at 12:45 am

    Now, not no

  22. Dee July 2nd, 2008 at 12:48 am

Just got home from the game. First of all, people need to cut it out with the wave. Game was tied Texas had 2 men on base with 2 outs and people were preoccupying themselves with the bloody wave.

I’m definitely getting anxious about the team. Even though we’ve only dropped 3 games after winning 2, my friends and I were much more frustrated tonight than when the team was not hitting at all back in April and May.

I think now we all have to face the reality that Tampa Bay ain’t going away anytime soon. It’s incredible that we manage not to gain any ground on either the Sox or Rays with them playing each other. If we’re not careful we could drop down too far behind to catch up. At this rate neither team is likely to start a double-digit losing streak…not every team can accomplish what the Mets did last season.

Lastly, not to start rumors, but our seat neighbors and we all thought Melky had weird body language toward Gardner (we sit in the left field) after he ran into the left field to make the couple catches or after Gardner caught one in the 9th. We could be imagining things but I’m gonna keep watching.

  23. DFox July 2nd, 2008 at 12:52 am

So what are you? The psychic scout? Since when do we completely disregard past years stats? .280, .273, and what has Gardner showed? That he can beat out a double play? I’m all for replacing Melky with him but there’s no reason he shouldn’t have to get some hits first. At least he should have to be batting .244. What, Melky got his average to .244 and now he’s never going to get a hit again? What can Gardner do at the plate in CF that he can’t do in LF?

  24. David Robertson for Setup July 2nd, 2008 at 1:00 am

He can have Damon in the Lineup EVERY DAY without this rotation BS. These players should be playing everyday, but Melky in the lineup is holding them back with his terrible play. You know how in little league the good kids always yell out, “EASY OUT” to the bad kids at bat? Well thats what the teams we face say when Melky comes up. What Gardner can do on the basepaths is MUCH more valuable than what Melky can do anywhere in the field. So you think Gardner is going to go 0-his career? Smart Analysis. Melky better be benched tomorrow. Damon and Jeter should not be benched when Melky is up here.

Side note. What happened to Chamberlain that he left after 4?

  25. Dee July 2nd, 2008 at 1:03 am

“What happened to Chamberlain that he left after 4?”

He was up to 80 pitches by the 4th and was just walking too many guys. It wasn’t his day.

The absence of Matsui aka the spare part is really being felt the last few games. I would have had him pinch hit for Melky for sure.

  26. DFox July 2nd, 2008 at 1:06 am

No dude, it’s Betimit who would lose playing time, not Damon. Gardner seems pretty good in left field also. And Damon seems to be doing very nicely as a DH so there’s no reason he can’t be the DH for a while, they need one anyway and I’d rather see him than Betimit. And I agree 100%, I’d much rather have Gardner on base… But he has to be able to reach base. Of course he’ll get hits, but he’s also supposed to be drawing walks, and when you’re not getting hits you should still be drawing the walks.

And nothing happened to Joba, he just threw too many pitches, if you call 93 too many.

  27. David Robertson for Setup July 2nd, 2008 at 1:06 am

    ^^

Thanks, I got worried when I heard 4 innings by sterling when I was coming home from seeing Hancock

  28. David Robertson for Setup July 2nd, 2008 at 1:09 am

Did you watch him yesterday? First 2 ABs were 3-2 and the 2nd at bat was a ball, but called a strike. He cant tell umps to call a good game for him. Now what happens when Matsui comes back? Which im sure Gardner will have a few hits by. Gardner goes down because Melky has been up for 3 years even though is BY FAR the least worthy including Betemit, because Betemit isnt expected to have starting numbers. Melky is a disgrace to the Yankee name right now, and I dont see him changing

  29. David Robertson for Setup July 2nd, 2008 at 1:17 am

Wow just realized that above statement could be the longest run on sentence of all time. Oh well, its the internet.

  30. Dee July 2nd, 2008 at 1:20 am

I have a hunch Hancock was much more enjoyable that tonight’s game…

  31. IRON July 2nd, 2008 at 8:23 am

I had two Bon Jovi tickets on the dashboard of my car…. someone broke in and left his two tickets.

Is Joe losing it so soon…. bunt and get Jeets into the game. A day off ??? He needs a day off?? He’s playing baseball…. there’s no days off playing baseball.

  32. S.A.- I still believe in this team, but can the offense stop being so offensive? July 4th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
