Duncan injured making catch for SWB

Shelley Duncan was in a sling last night after apparently separating his shoulder. Chad Jennings has the news.

It has been a tough year for Shelley. First the suspension then the unexpected lack of playing time in the majors, poor results when he did play and now this. But knowing him, he won’t let it keep him down.

Good luck to him as he recovers.

    More blogging, Shelley!

  2. Yeah!

    uh oh.

  3. David Robertson for Setup

Ouch. Oh well, he wasnt coming up again this year anyway

  4. yankee2123

Kevin Maas + Shane Spencer = Shelly Duncan

  5. JetsDaily

    Poor Duncab.

I wish Shelley were good enough to be a part of this team because we really could use someone like him.

Speaking of injuries – WORST. INJURY. EVER.

Diamondbacks placed catcher Chris Snyder on the disabled list with a left testicular fracture.

I had no idea they could be fractured.

  7. Give Melky an aluminum bat

    DFA Melky.
    NO MORE CATCHER POSADA.
    DFA MORON JOE.

It’s funny that towards to end of last year, one of the papers had the picture of Yankee rookies dressed up like characters from the Wizard of Oz. These were players we were counting on for this year. Of the 4, only Chamberlain has really helped and the other 3 are now injured or rehabing back, Hughes, IPK, and Duncan. Maybe they should stop dressing up the rookies.

  9. Doris From Rego Park

Im sure Corky is a good guy and all but the truth of the matters is he sucks and his injury is about as salient to the yankees chances of winning as my head cold.

“unexpected lack of playing time in the majors”

Shelley is AAAA all the way. He’s streaky as was the case late in the season and the spring. Let him chase the minor league home run title.

I love it. There were a few comments here when this post first popped up, including one where I pointed out ‘Poor Shelley Duncab’. Miraculously, they disappeared, and the post got fixed!

Just like last night’s ‘Joe Girardi pinch hit Alberto Gonzalez who hit into a double play’ mistake, instead of just owning up to it like a man, it’s easier to just delete the comments!

  12. Andrew

@lol, Alberto Gonzalez pinch ran for Betemit in the 9th and the Melky grounded into the double play.

No need to DFA Melky, they can simply option him down.

  13. Ari

TL, that title belongs to Crash Davis.

I was at the game last night. The catch was great, full diving stretch after a sprint to the warning track in the right field corner. Shelley got up pretty quickly but immediately headed off the field with his right arm hanging low.

This is just not the Yanks year AT ALL – in the Bronx or in Scranton. Injuries plaguing the both teams for pete sake!

Good luck to Shelley & come back soon! Hopefully we’ll see him at the very end of this season during Sept callups.

btw, pete – i just remember Shelley had to indure a blood clot in his arm and a sports hernia before the season started.

    poor guy :(
