okay…first off. buchholz is an idiot. bring him out. secondly, it was really hard going through a day without melky. i was having withdrawals until jeter knocked into a dp with 2 men on base…

Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Chris Snyder has suffered a left testicular fracture while taking a foul tip off his, well, you know. Needless to say, he’ll be placed on the 15-day disabled list.

Geez, I got nearly ill while reading this. As rotoworld documents, this tops Kaz Matsui’s anal fissures suffered in Spring Training. Best of luck Mr. Snyder on a speedy recovery. Hang in there, pal.

    :(

the sux need Masterson in the pen.. he has a power sinker and there pen stinks..he is having worse results each start and is getting exposed for multi innings..

he has been a pleasant suprise but the word is getting out on him, it always does..Joba better throw strikes sunday else he will throw 100 pitch’s in 3 innings….

boston is patient like the Yanks use to be…

  10. Jorge Steinbrenner July 3rd, 2008 at 7:55 am

if we’ve learned anything throughout the years, it’s that you throw out EVERYTHING when the Yanks and Sox play. throw out pitching matchups. throw out how the teams were doing going into the series. anything can, and will, happen.

    GO YANKS!

as to Chris Snyder, I guess someone got to Madonna before A-Rod did…

Not liking the Beckett-Rasner matchup, even though the trailer trash is a shadow of his former self and Rasner could pitch well out of fear of getting sent back down. This could be the wild card.

I’ll be there for the Masterson-Moose matchup. Always love it when Moose pitches against guys half his age, it brings out the extra feisty in him :-)

“boston is patient like the Yanks use to be…”

The Yanks are still a patient team at the plate. They are third in the AL in OBP. The Sox are first though.

  13. Russell NY July 3rd, 2008 at 8:21 am

Sheesh – all the Boston starters ERA’s under 4. Including the 2 young kids. Rasner vs Beckett… ouch.

  14. Russell NY July 3rd, 2008 at 8:23 am

“it was really hard going through a day without melky. i was having withdrawals until jeter knocked into a dp with 2 men on base…”

    lol. Gardner rules.

  15. Russell NY July 3rd, 2008 at 8:24 am

Ya know why I like Gardner is he came up and immediately WASNT looking to hit a longball or go outside what he is comfortable with. The Rangers made some good plays to get him out so far, including snaring a line drive in his 3rd at-bat I believe. I’m beginning to think he will never be doubled up. He had 3rd stolen EASILY yesterday.

  16. Glenn July 3rd, 2008 at 8:28 am

Papleboof didn’t pitch the entire series vs. the Rays. He’ll overthrow and get the smug look wiped off his face in the Bronx.
If the Jekyell & Hyde bats of the Yankees get stable on the hitting side, then some ground gets made up vs. Boston.
Two losses to the Rangers blew 2 chances.
Opportunity knocks ….. take advantage of it.

  17. Old Goat July 3rd, 2008 at 8:47 am

There was something I read that Papelbon has a tired arm. It could be that there is more to the story, but the RS bullpen has some trouble spots from the sounds of it.

  18. 86w183 July 3rd, 2008 at 8:55 am

Interesting series for sure. right now the Yanks bullpen is pitching a lot better than the Sawx, so the starters have to try and make it a late inning game each day.

Rasner can do well if he gets ahead of hitters. If not, he’s toast. Thank goodness Big Sid won’t be in there. I suspect the Yanks have already gotten the one good six inning start they are going to get from him.

    Go Yanks!

  21. JohnC July 3rd, 2008 at 9:28 am

I hope they instruct Moose to throw nothing close to the plate to Manny.

  22. JoeT 28 in 09!! SWEEP BOSTON MOVEMENT - SWEEEPP CAROLINE!! July 3rd, 2008 at 9:30 am

Bring on Buccholz – he got us the first time with his high curve ball and the second time the Yankees had no problems – bring ‘em on
