“Sam Borden wonders why Alex Rodriguez always wants more attention”

Sam Borden is one of the very few sportswriters to present the Arod situation for what it is - Arod’s everlasting need for publicity - of any kind.

He has been a detriment and a distraction of his own making to every team he’s been on and NONE of them has won a World Series while he was on those teams. I don’t want to hear about stats either, they are meaningless. The Yankees play for World Series Titles and The Yankees won’t win a Series while he is here either.

He is so busy being “ARod” - the me first, look at me, I’m a great superstar, that he ignores his real job, playing for a baseball TEAM which is paying him millions of dollars and getting no return on their investment.

And it is now obvious that he cares nothing at all about his wife, his marriage or those two innocent little girls.

Just go away, Alex, please and take your sleazy lifestyle with you.

Sorry Brandon, Farnsworth had a 1.98 in Atlanta the year before NY signed him. Hawkins had a 3.42 ERA in Col the year before NY signed him. White had a 3.93 ERA with Cincy the year before NY signed him, so remember the NL to AL exchange rate is meaningful for all NL pitchers. Those seasons Before they cameto NY are at least 2 runs lower than what they did here. I would be real careful about any NL pitchers coming into the AL East

Farnsy pitched in a pitcher's park, Hawkins was horrible his 3.42 ERA meant nothing for Colorado check his long term stats. Cincy and Gabe White from what I remember was a throw in this was the Aaron Boone deal.

Brandon, Would you trade Mussina and Melky for Shane Victorino and a prospect?

Why would Philly do this, I wouldn't trade Victorino if I'm Philly certainly not for Mussina, I'd put a package of Carrasco, Victorino and Bastardo for Sabathia if I'm Philly before I do this.

But would I if I'm the Yankees trade Mussina for Victorino ? ummm throw in Savery and Carrasco or Bastardo and you got me interested.

Brandon, for starters how bout Farnsworth, Hawkins, Villone, Dotel Heredia, White,

Farnsy sucked no one wanted him. Hawkins was and always has been garbage (he was acquired because he was a hit it quit it type guy), Dotel arm issues, Gabe White was crap, Felix Heredia again crap. I'm talking about guys that can pitch.

Look at the 2009 FA list of players that are under 30. Starting pitchers: Garland Oliver Perez, Sabathia, Pryor
Relievers:Juan Cruz, Brandon Lyon and F-Rod of the Angels
Outfielders: Corey Patterson, Dunn,Baldelli
1st-Teixeira
2nd-Felipe Lopez
SS-Cesar Izturis
3B-Dallas McPherson
C-None

Ben Sheets,30, is a FA. Do you really want to give an overweight CC or injury marred Sheets a 6 year 130M salary, and possibly have the next Mike Hampton, Barry Zito, Pedro Martinez, or possibly Santana??

Other than Brandon Lyon, who might command a reasonable salary, do you really want Teixeira a Boras client who is hitting .229 against lefties or F-Rod who wants a 5 year @15M per???
