Give me Sabathia! It's high time more of the players looked like us fans! Seriously CC is as safe a bet as you can find right now... and his salary will be less than Mussina + Pavano so its doable. I say yes to Pettite, no to Mussina in '09 mostly because of the need to make a change and Pettite is younger and left handed.

McCutchen and Karstens are more encouraging to me than Rasner and Ponson... should the moves be made now? The depth of pitching prospects is going to allow the Yanks to deal for a RH hitter and lefty reliever from a position of strength... incredible strength if Kennedy and Horne get back on track.

the future is bright... the present a bit hazy if we don't start hitting soon.

I'm rooting for McEnroe today... Lendl bores me!

It's amazing how many people are concerned with CC's build. He's an inning eater and a good one at that and has been healthy his whole career (not that that guarantees anything in the future). Yet I don't ever remember people concerned about David Well's weight. And he did pretty well (No pun intended)in a Yankee uniform!!

Above average offense that has scored 2 runs or less in 29 games. Can't drive in RISP to save their souls.

Why are you comparing Sabathia to Sheets and Pavano who are two pitchers that are made of glass and don't have a quarter of the career that Sabathia has?

Sheets has three 200 inning seasons, Pavano had two. Terrible comparisons.

"Or we find another stud like Joba in the minors"

This is the problem with this blog. Just because we found one Joba, its easy to find another and all our prospects are going to be gold. It doesn't work that way. There isn't some "Joba Store" where you just pick up another. Stars were in perfect alignment for the Joba selection. He had injury worries, teams wanted him but were being told "no" by their medical teams. In fact he was everything that you're saying is wrong with Sabathia. A heavier pitcher. We got lucky. And if Hughes and Kennedy become nothing, then we beat the odds with Joba because its like a 1 out of 10 chance that a prospect becomes anything.

If you sign another pitcher like Pettitte you still haven't solved anything. Its the same old rotation you keep going to war with. For 7 years now since the Arizona World Series we've known that our pitching is inferior and we don't have #1 quality pitchers. Arizona dismantled us with 2 ace pitchers. You'd think in 7 years that Cashman would be able to fix this problem. Instead we keep going with the same broken down formula. Below average starters, average bullpen, above average closer, above average offense.

pat,

I think he might do it. He basically gave us a break on the last contract, so it might cost us.

I can picture Moose finishing up in the NL to get a few more wins. If Moyer can do it, Moose can!

Can you imagine Victorino in the Bronx?
