Aceves pitches three innings for SWB

Alfredo Aceves, who could figure into the mix in a few weeks, pitched three innings for Scranton tonight in his return from a groin pull.
He allowed two hits and struck out two against Toledo. Of his 49 pitches, 32 were strikes. Kei Igawa followed him to the mound. Brian Cashman said they want to get a “good look” at Aceves in Scranton before considering whether to call him up.
I get the impression in talking to Cashman that he feels they rushed too many guys through Triple-A before bringing them up (Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy, for instance) and wants to avoid that if possible.
——————
Meanwhile, Joe Girardi joined the ‘stache crew today. I managed to clip this off his postgame interview with YES. That’s just the kind of thing Joe Torre would have done, right? Um, no. But Torre could have grown a mustache in two days if asked. The man gets 5 o’clock shadow at noon.

LOL
Thank goodness the Big G doesn’t have mutton chops.
Hey, Pete. Green Beret said Toronto broadcasters mentioned Halladay starting on Friday.
BTW, how do you pronounce “Aceces”?
I still think Aceves may be replacing Rasner soon
No need to rush these kids. As Pete mentioned, Hughes was rushed a little and Kennedy was rushed a ton. Let Aceves get in a rythm in Scranton and if he is pitching well come August 1st, give him the call and see what he can give you.
Mel, that picture of Girardi looks suspiciously like a 1918 picture of the Bohemian Corporal.
Angel, I heard they are looking for good lawyers in the Ant- artic, Of course you don’t qualify!
Nick, What have the Yankees done for you lately except 1 and out! It’s been how many years? LOL
Gardner Running For Melkys Spot, Like I said earlier It will be Sox and Yank’s in the end, No nervousness here!
And as far as the trolling goes, This is America.
The definition of trolling is actually fishing off the back of a boat while moving. Not a word made up by Yankee fans.
Let’s be ORIGINAL bloggers.
anyone see this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmhsy63UEeA
Mike Lowell stealing a cell phone
Green Beret,
I don’t know who the Bohemian Colonel is, but I have the sudden urge to eat some pizza. All Girardi’s missing is the bandana around the neck.
Remember, that while Aceves hasn’t been with the Yankees that long, he was already playing in Mexico at the AAA level. The Yankees can’t keep Rasner going much longer, IMO, he was fine for a few starts, but the league caught up pretty quick to him. Long relief is more likely for Rasner.
Who knows how well Aceves can do, but he probably doesn’t need to be in AAA much longer before giving him a start. The injury and his not being on the 40 man is what is holding him up.
Ok Peter…
We get it…
You don’t like Joe Girardi.
I’m up to 1,800 votes for Longoria.
Aceves is 26 also, so he isn’t as young as Kennedy and Hughes. Those few years can mean a big difference.
Aceves is not a kid either, nor is he any long term front of the rotation guy….bring him up and move Rasner along….these guys are stop gap canno fodder….it is not like rushing a real prospect high draft pick along….
Send Karstens back up…load up the Scranton shuttle
Freddy Garcia…come on down Sept. 1….
Oscar, I’m up to 2800 votes for Giambi, so I alone more than cancel you out.
Oscar – go to google, type in RED SOX BLOGS – click on ANY of those and knock yourself out
How bout NO JoeT! Old Goat you can’t type that fast so I know you’re Bull S***ing!
yeah I’d be jealous that the sox don’t have anything as great as this site too… don’t worry you can stay
Oscar is just a little nervous that his team is only 4.5 games up. He wants to bust our nuts. He knows not 1 of those Red Sox players should be starting the game next tuesday
Morneau > Youseless
Kinsler > Pedroia
Alot of players > Manny
Any intelligence on Aceves? Anyone seen him pitch? What does he throw? Movement? Break? Speed differential between pitches?
This team has quite a few holes to fill, including shaky 4 and 5 starters, not to mention the possibility of a Moose regression in the 2nd half, and lingering questions in the late inning relief corps.
They’ve played a great 4 days of baseball though. Hopefully these close game wins are Girardi’s philosophy taking root.
Oscar, with they way you type, I doubt you could possibly have that many votes in. I type quite fast. Just spending a ton of time voting on Giambi over posting on here.
Text messaging, Is it an extra charge for the voting, or can I do it with unlimited text messaging?
MUM, Aceves is more a control type pitcher. He was very dominating in Mexico, works both sides of the plate.
You wouldn’t pick him for the front of the rotation. You don’t need that for every rotation slot anyway. The biggest question with him will be how he does vs. Major League batters.
And Jeter should be starting just because he plays in NY? I think not! Who’s place is he taking?
It’s a popularity contest and I guess more Red Sox players are more popular than Yankee players, obviously.
Like I said earlier no nervousness here,Looking forward for the Sox and Yanks in the play-offs.
Oscar, do you really have nothing better to do with your life? Seriously, I guarentee you are one of those weird people nobody likes so to get back at them you like to piss people off. Right now, you are on two blogs: a red sux one to piss of them and this blog to piss us off. Have fun with your worthless life. End of discussion.
Early August will do just fine for Aceves getting called up.
Ponson will likely get at least 2 more starts and with some hot bats for run support, Rasner could survive.
It all bides time until Wang and Hughes are through rehabbing.
The very little in the way of trades for starting rotation help. Cashman can concentrate on a RH bat and a lefty reliever
End of discussion.”
Guarantee thats the kid of person he is. He is the type of fan that neither Red Sox or Yankee fans like him and he tries too hard to make friends on these things, fails and then overreacts.
Hey Oscar, name an AL SS with numbers wwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy better than Jeter. He may not be doing amazing but he is up there unlike your feakin Tek who happens to be one of the worst catchers in the league. Posada is better and his arm is like dead: he can throw out more runners from his knees than Tek could do on a pitchout.
yeah Oscar is on the sox blog under the name Oscar (Yankees fan) lol
And Oscar if you were on here on Sunday you would have heard 99% of the people here say that Young would be very deserving of the all-star game start. Certainly more deserving then “captain tek”
Oscar, the AL isn’t exactly stacked with SS who are going great this year. No one really stands out. Except maybe Lugo.
Im excited for David Ortiz first swing and miss which is going to fu-ck up his wrist and he’s out for the season. Only a matter of time before the Sox show weakness from Ortiz being out.
Oscar –
Like any team, the Socks have holes but none more glaring than their fans, yourself included.
I don’t think a RH bat is something of big concern. I think it was just a rough patch for us. After all, every year before this, our lineup was like the same and we dominated lefties. More concern is with the rotation regardless of how well it does. There is always upgrades and you can’t expect this production through the season. Moose is great but he will regress a little and be an effective 4-4.5 ERA rather than the sub 4 right now. He won’t be bad at all but not as great as now.
Wow, Joe looks good with the ‘stache!
All joking aside, it looks like Joe G. has a lot of solidarity with his players…that speaks volumes.
Oh, and before I forget
I’d like to say on behalf of the Yankees, Your Welcome for beating the team your Red Sox so desperatly couldnt.
guys, just ignore him he just tries to get his laughs out of this if you ignore him he will stop posting.
By the way Oscar, what happened to your super ace Beckett. Haven’t heard anything special out of him.
P.S. the score is 26-2
Stache Voters,
If I vote via Text Messaging, will I get charged extra money with Unlimited Text Messaging?
Yea Gardner running…
1 run 19 innings. Your pitching couldn’t come close to that against the same team.
The “yea Gardner..”
was agreement and the comment was directed to a very disturbed one known as “Oscar” but goes by many names

Morneau > Youseless
Do your homework.
Morneau 12 HR’s, .313 ,65 RBI’s
Youk 13 HR’s, .314 ,53 RBI’s
And Morneau has twiice as many errors!
Pay no attention to the Sox trolls on this or any other blog, I say.
I won’t elaborate on what I think the Tek “C” truly stands for. Let’s hope home field for the AL in the WS doesn’t come down to his “talents” with the bat or glove.
Old Goat, thanks for the Aceves tip. Sounds like he’s another potential spot starter, like Rasner, but not a real force in the making.
12 more RBI’s big difference there
Put on your GM caps:
Newsday reporting Freddy Garcia will do a work out for teams in 2 weeks.
It has also been reported that Pavano threw 30 pitches yesterday in BP.
Sources say that the Yanks may be players for Garcia.
If both are ready to go at the same time, would you go with Pavano because the money has already been invested in him or go with Garcia and add to payroll?
“And Morneau has twiice as many errors!”
Because he gets to more balls, or because his 3B is worse at throwing. Morneau and Youk are both top three in runs added when you take both offense and defense into account. So don’t get all high and mighty.

Oh, and before I forget
I’d like to say on behalf of the Yankees, Your Welcome for beating the team your Red Sox so desperatly couldnt.
AGAIN, The Sox and Rays are both undefeated at home against each other.
And yes thanks for beating them.
There seems to be a lot of anger in your writing, RELAX.
Morneau 12 HR’s, .313 ,65 RBI’s
Youk 13 HR’s, .314 ,53 RBI’s
And Morneau has twiice as many errors!”
So I do my voting on Errors? Because those stats show that I would take Morneau. Add them altogether into 1 big number, whose number is bigger?
Morneau-390
Youseless – 380
AGAIN, The Sox and Rays are both undefeated at home against each other.
And yes thanks for beating them.
There seems to be a lot of anger in your writing, RELAX.”
Ok, well in the last 3 games how are you against the Rays? 0-3. Thats all that matters. We beat them, you couldnt.
Actually, we shut them out, they couldn’t
Garcia vs. Pavano
Does anyone think Pavano will actually end up pitching for this team?
As for your question, will Garcia or Pavano have anything positive to add to this team that IPK, McCutchen, and/or Aceves could not?
Both are bums.
This proves how stupid Sox fans are
There seems to be a lot of anger in your writing, RELAX.
How can there be anger in a sentence without yelling? And im frustrated talking to a retarted Red Sox fan who thinks 2 world championships in 4 years makes them the greatest franchise in baseball history.
Pavano will pitch. He is being paid to pitch. When he comes back, he will be in the rotation
I wouldn’t call two championships in 89 years a trend.
27 this year
July 9th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
By the way Oscar, what happened to your super ace Beckett. Haven’t heard anything special out of him.
P.S. the score is 26-2
You can change your name because that aint happening, I guess you had the name for the last 8 years, (27 this year) LOL
How long have you had the (Sox fan) part in your name Oscar? I would guess 4 years, since thats when alot of non NYers became Red Sox fans
if your too stupid to get what I was saying, basically im claiming your a waggon jumper
By the way.. I just noticed that Staten Island has 7 errors.. in one game…
Mop Up Man
I guess that was where I was going. Why pay a new bum if the Yanks already have an old one.
Pavano will pitch. He is being paid to pitch. When he comes back, he will be in the rotation
But will he make it to the mound
By the way.. I just noticed that Staten Island has 7 errors.. in one game…
raining
You spelled retarded wrong. How old are you?
So don’t talk to me, ignore me dummy.
But will he make it to the mound ”
Now thats a question only God can answer. But I dont think God could even help Pavano avoid injuries. But I have to say, I will be a Pavano fan until he leaves the pinstripes just because I cant really hate anyone who ever dons the stripes
You spelled retarded wrong. How old are you?
So don’t talk to me, ignore me dummy.”
Sorry buddy, guess you know you have no arguement since your going around spell checking now?
hahaha that’s great – entire post: you’re a bandwagon fan. Response: you can’t spell!
I will be a Pavano fan until he leaves the pinstripes just because I cant really hate anyone who ever dons the stripes
Even Igawa ?
gotta draw the line somewhere brandon lol
Even Igawa ?”
Unfortunetly
Always been that way, I just have to learn to like everyone who is a Yankee. Its tough sometimes trust me.
Anyone concerned over Gardners K`s looking? He cant run if he cant get on base, he cant get on base if he doesnt put the ball in play.
Still hoping Cashman makes a deal for two starting pitchers.
Anyone concerned over Gardners K`s looking? He cant run if he cant get on base, he cant get on base if he doesnt put the ball in play.
Still hoping Cashman makes a deal for two starting pitchers.”
He got on base the same amount as Melky today. He is learning the Major League pitching, you gotta give him more than a week before your concerned.
yankee lover… everyone strikes out looking once in a while idk why everyone has to stress over 1 AB it’s a little ridiculous
I doubt Cash makes a deal for 1 starting pitcher let alone 2. We will likely get a crap replacement like Victor Zambrano and maybe look at Garcia. I hate to say it, but either of them would do better than Rasner
It’s been 92 years since the Boston Socks repeated as a World Champion.
The Yankees have repeated 12 times with the most recent being a 3-peat in 1998-2000.
OK. Good luck in Toronto (not) as the Sox have more home cooking to do.
Good night (Gardner Running For Melkys Spot)
Interesting game in LA. 12 up and 12 down for both teams, Hudson vs. Lowe. Make that 16 up and 16 down for Lowe.
That was suppposed to be 15 up and 15 down for Lowe.
And Loney just led off the bottom of the 5th with a double.
Not stressing, but he whiffed at least 5 or 6 times in the last two games. Hes whiffed 6X`s in 23 at bats. I`d rather see him put the ball in play more regularly
OK. Good luck in Toronto (not) as the Sox have more home cooking to do.
Good night (Gardner Running For Melkys Spot)”
Aww is it beddy bye time already? hahaha Not? Who says that? Good luck with Baltimore, “Not”. Hahaha. Oh man, gotta love Trolls sometimes
Again, What have the Yankees done for you lately?
Approximately 200 mil per year for 8 years (1.6 billion) = No World Series Championships
To be fair the strikeouts were forced by the umpire, both the K’s Brett took was ball 3 and ball 4.
A few other things.
1. Ryan Howard is superman w/ men on bases, Shelley Duncan w/no one on.
2.
“From what I’m told, he’s on his way,†Franklin said.
“I think he’s going to start for us. We welcome him. I don’t know how many innings he’s going to throw, I don’t know how many pitches he’s allowed to throw. But he’s coming.â€
Bruney may be in Trenton as early as tomorrow. Chase Wright will follow him, and will not be bumped a day.
If I didn’t know any better I’d say they are converting him either to a SP or are just stretching him out to get to the big club quicker.
“We will likely get a crap replacement like Victor Zambrano and maybe look at Garcia. I hate to say it, but either of them would do better than Rasner”
Rasner – 2008: 4.94 ERA, 82 ERA+. Not great, but OK
Career: 4.57 ERA, 92 ERA+
Zambrano – 2007 (last time in the bigs) 10.17 ERA and 45 ERA+
Career: 4.64 ERA, 94 ERA+
Why, exactly, would Victor Zambrano do any better?
How much did the sox waste in those 86 years of no championships?
Like I said earlier, I don’t fish off the back of a boat therefore I am not a (made up by Yankee fans) troll.
“or are just stretching him out to get to the big club quicker.”
It’s pretty obviously this one. Why does it make you :-/ to think of that?
Not stressing, but he whiffed at least 5 or 6 times in the last two games. Hes whiffed 6X`s in 23 at bats. I`d rather see him put the ball in play more regularly”
Dont you think the Phillies say that about Ryan Howard too?
But Gardner has faced, Beckett, Wakefield, Masterson, and Kazmir in the last week, give him a break. He went from 2 fire ballers, to a knuckleballer, to a fire baller in a 4 game stretch when he has been up for a week.
He has the game winning RBI on Sat, and got the winning hit in the 10th on Sunday against one of the best closers in the game.
MUCH MUCH less than the Yankees have spent in 8 years, for sure.
“Not stressing, but he whiffed at least 5 or 6 times in the last two games. Hes whiffed 6X`s in 23 at bats. I`d rather see him put the ball in play more regularly”
Gardner strikes out a lot for a guy with no power. That’s one of the reasons expectations for him need to be more reasonable than a lot of people are making them.
Rasner – 2008: 4.94 ERA, 82 ERA+. Not great, but OK
Career: 4.57 ERA, 92 ERA+
Zambrano – 2007 (last time in the bigs) 10.17 ERA and 45 ERA+
Career: 4.64 ERA, 94 ERA+
Why, exactly, would Victor Zambrano do any better?”
I meant neither not either
Yankees – 26 WS championships
Red Sox – 7 WS Championships
uhhh, I take the bigger number
It’s pretty obviously this one. Why does it make you :-/ to think of that?
Whozat IDK probably because this new regime makes you think more. Although this should be a no brainer.
“Dont you think the Phillies say that about Ryan Howard too?”
That’s a mindblowingly invalid comparison. Howard gets extra-base hits. He can drive guys in from first and second base. Gardner can’t. His stolen bases do not make up for it. Howard can be productive despite his huge K rate. Gardner MUST get on base in order to be productive. His K rate is a big problem; pitchers are coming right at him and they’re not going to walk him anymore.
People, please keep in mind that you may be giving Oscar the reaction and attention that he craves. Someone who pretends not to know the term ‘troll’ and mixes it up with the word ‘trawl’ is probably not worth the time or effort. Not to mention the ‘content’ of his posts.
Derek Lowe still perfecto into the 6th.
if cano had a .300 season he will be the starter instead of the little midget
1 – there’s no way they spent less, their payroll is pretty damn high too (and was pre-2004, but you wouldn’t know because that’s when you became a “fan”)
2 – I bet we won more division titles in the last 8 years then you did in the past 86
anyone get a confirmation on Halladay starting Friday?
“Whozat IDK probably because this new regime makes you think more. ”
Occam’s razor still provides me with pretty accurate answers. There generally aren’t elaborate conspiracy theories going on.
Yankees vs Dodgers is the ideal WS.
If it were to come down to those 2 in the WS, imagine the ratings. Better than the Red Sox and Rockies thats for sure
“if cano had a .300 season he will be the starter instead of the little midget”
Ian Kinsler should be starting, but fans don’t watch baseball in texas.
Dave – someone posted earlier that they heard it on the Blue Jays TV broadcast tonight.
Oscar,
2004 is only a few years ago, that was the Red Sox first big season, so they havent done S##t up until that point. They have won 2 in the last 4 years. The Yankees as you know full well dominated the last 80 years or so. depending on how old you are, you had to experience their dominance.
Red sox payroll is up there pretty good too.
What has been a big difference with your team is luck. You got extremely lucky with Mike Lowell as a thow in, and with Okajima as a throw in, and maybe J D Drew as a throw in. Lets not forget the luck, when your team put Manny on waviers and nobody took him. You were lucky he came back and was productive.
Brandon did you watch Santana today?????
Yes Halladay is pitching friday, its on ESPN.com now when they had him pitching tomorrow earlier today
In the last 10 years
Yankees have more championships than the Red Sox
Cano is a better player both in offensive and defense than the little midget
Oscar is right, he isn’t a troll, he’s more like chum. You know, the crap they throw out to bait fish.
Of course if he had half a brain he would know that troll on the internet has been around a long time, since the 1980’s and its believed the term came from the practice of trolling for fish, in a shortened format … as in trolling for people to respond to inane posts or trolling for suckers.
yeah halladay.
Johan was seriously starting to get pissed at the offense or lack there of the Mets were giving him. 8-7 is pretty bad
and they got Ortiz for nothing
Guys, check out Lowe’s line.
Truth of the matter is Mets are winning and I know thats killing lots of people around here.
I believe Johan is basically already eliminated from CY Young contention.
NESPN had him going 25-2 with a 2.15 ERA before the season
The guy isnt even starting in the All Star game
what do u guys think having hanley playing for the redsox or beckett and lowell i rather face beckett and lowell than have hanley in a redsox uniform for 10+ years
looks like Toronto is messing up their rotation (basically giving Halladay 6 days rest) so he can pitch against the Yanks. I don’t think Halladay is injured at all so this looks like it was intentionally done just for matchup purposes.
nice..
Brandon did you watch Santana today?????
vs SF Giants vaunted offense yeh I did
Looks like Oscar got a new name. I wouldnt call the hit lucky buddy, I would just call your closer just not too good
Yankee Lover,
You are exactly right in some respects. The Sox picked up Mike Lowell at the time simply so they could get Beckett. I don’t think anyone is the Sox management would have predicted that Okajima would have been as effective as he was last year.
JD Drew was not a “throw in”. He has a big contract and the Sox purposely pursued him, much to the chagrin of Sox fans last year but he has worked out well this year.
Certainly the Yankees have been the dominant team in the history of baseball, but I think a valid question is how many of the current Yankees played on any on those championship teams?
I could be wrong but I am guessing only Jeter, Posada, Rivera, and Pettite.
ok mr know it all.
I was just at dinner with a Braves fan and a Dodgers fan…they are both going to be happy tonight
“Truth of the matter is Mets are winning and I know thats killing lots of people around here.”
when the Yankees were a .500 team, it was a negative. the Mets are a .500 team and they’re “winning”. Nothing about that team is impressive right now.
sure, things can change and they could make the playoffs. but the mets are far from a top team right now.
looks like Toronto is messing up their rotation (basically giving Halladay 6 days rest) so he can pitch against the Yanks. I don’t think Halladay is injured at all so this looks like it was intentionally done just for matchup purposes.
nice..”
We’ve beat him before, and we’ll do it again. We have Joba at the helm
ellsbury
pedroia
hanley ramirez
ortiz
Manny
tough five of the lineup there
Haha it was pretty obvious it was you dumb a-ss.
Rebecca, Lowe is perfect through 6 innings!!!!
Vin Scully said so!
OK – something I have been wondering about for a long time – do the other Yankee fans who post here post on other Red Sox or whatever blogs? Is it normal? I haven’t noticed it elsewhere…I’m just curious as to why one would want to do that…
Brandon i don’t hear you mentioning the pathetic offense some of the Yankees pitcher have face this year, and they still manage to get kill.
ellsbury
pedroia
hanley ramirez
ortiz
Manny
tough five of the lineup there”
Ellsbury would be batting 9th if they had Hanley, It would be
Ramirez
Pedroia
Ortiz
Ramirez
Lowell
Youseless
Drew
Varitek
Ellsbury
but it isnt.
Actually both pitchers were until the dinger….
OK – something I have been wondering about for a long time – do the other Yankee fans who post here post on other Red Sox or whatever blogs? Is it normal? I haven’t noticed it elsewhere…I’m just curious as to why one would want to do that…”
No, Red Sox fans are just insecure. They know a collapse for them can happen at any moment (2006 5 game sweep)
Both Lowe & Hudson were until Kemp’s dinger
“sure, things can change and they could make the playoffs. but the mets are far from a top team right now.”
QUOTE of year. the mets are a game from first place and they along way huh?...The Yankees are like what 8 away from first place and not mentioning their payroll is higher by 100 million come on.
“Ellsbury would be batting 9th if they had Hanley”
Hanley wont lead off in that lineup he has good power
Loney Doubled in the 5th. So Hudson was only perfect into the 5th
Thanks for answering Gardner… I would agree that it comes off as insecure, especially when you can be completely annonymous when you’re saying whatever you want to.
No i definitely do not go on red sox boards to talk smack, I can’t deal with most red sox fans, especially the band wagoners (see: Oscar). I’d much rather talk mostly intelligent baseball (with some jokes thrown in) with people that root for the same team I do.
ray, you forgot Girardi. Plus, they all played on more WS teams than any of the Red Sox…
QUOTE of year. the mets are a game from first place and they along way huh?…The Yankees are like what 8 away from first place and not mentioning their payroll is higher by 100 million come on.”
8 away? Try 6.5…If you could have beaten the Rays for us like we did for you, it would be less. But your team sucks.
“the mets are a game from first place and they along way huh?…The Yankees are like what 8 away from first place and not mentioning their payroll is higher by 100 million come on.”
Being in a far weaker division is somehow a ringing endorsement of the Mets?
Also…I wasn’t aware that 100 and 70 are equal numbers. Good try, though.
Brandon i don’t hear you mentioning the pathetic offense some of the Yankees pitcher have face this year, and they still manage to get kill.
WTF you talking about ? ofcourse I do. And is SF all the sudden a beast hitting team ? Thier offense isn’t better than KC, not better than Pitt not better than Minny so what are you talking about ? other than Rowand and Molina they have nothing.
The Blue Jays website confirms it is Holiday on Friday. They adjusted their rotation to have him pitch against the Yanks.
Bandwaggon fans suck so much. Oscar (also known as Gardner got a lucky hit off my terrible closer) and ESPN are good examples
no more no-hitters in place…
“Also…I wasn’t aware that 100 and 70 are equal numbers. Good try, though.”
This is how smart Yankees fans are, they can’t differentiate sarcasm from the truth. Lmao.
This is how smart Yankees fans are, they can’t differentiate sarcasm from the truth. Lmao.”
Are you really judging who is smart? I can pull plenty of pretty bad quotes from you on here Oscar
dude – find a Red Sox site and go away…it really only makes you look pathetic. You know no one with whom you can discuss your team and it’s amazing bullpen (just to clarify – that is also sarcastic)
The Mets are in a weaker division but they were 4-3 against the Yankees this year, that speaks volume of your beloved Yankees.
“This is how smart Yankees fans are, they can’t differentiate sarcasm from the truth. Lmao.”
Mm. So close. The literary device you were actually trying to use was hyperbole. Not sarcasm.
And you failed at even expressing that. Ouch.
Ok, I admit it, I cant handle you people anymore. I am indeed a bandwaggon fan. I have only been a Red Sox fan since 2004. And I only come on these blogs because my mom asked me to make friends this summer, but no one wants to be my friend
Ray, thats correct. You can look at your two WS championship rosters and see that there was a lot of turnover with your team. I dont know what point you were making about the Yankees having only 4 left from the last championship. I would expect that since its been a while. Keep in mind that while they did not win for a while they a few near misses. They also have been one of if not the best and most consistant at getting to the playoffs. I dont know if this fits you, but heres what cracks me up about “some ” red sox fans. I hope the Red sox are good and competitive every year, its makes it fun and enjoyable to have that rivalry mean soemthing. In the 60`s we were awful, and without dating myself there wasnt these playoff type atmosphere games against Bosox. Its a great thing, but hoping the Yankees stink, and getting that wish granted, will make for a boring season. Theres nothing better than Red Sox Yankees when both are contenders. No other baseball teams have that, (expect maybe Chicago-St Louis) but both are inconsistent. The Mets wish they had something like that. I cant count Atlanta because a rivalry means that you win some of them and we all know the Mets always lose to Atlanta
At least least you admit it Oscar
about the line-ups for the sox – you can’t put Lowell in the middle of that line-up if Hanley is leading off, they wouldn’t have Lowell without giving up hanley in the becket deal
about the line-ups for the sox – you can’t put Lowell in the middle of that line-up if Hanley is leading off, they wouldn’t have Lowell without giving up hanley in the becket deal”
Good call. Oh well, doesnt matter anyway
Rishi,
I can’t speak for other Sox fans, but the truth of the matter is that I am not aware of any other baseball blogs that are near as active or put out as much information as this one.
Do I wish that there was a Red Sox blog that was as good as this one? Of course I do but one simply does not exist.
I live in a part of the country that is mostly Red Sox fans but my best friend is an avid Yankee fan. We have a good time talking baseball and harassing each other in a good natured way.
Life would really be boring if everyone was a Red Sox fan and conversely it would be really boring if everyone was a Yankee fan.
And not all Sox fans are bandwagon fans. I am old enough to have cheered for Jim Lonborg in 1967, I really liked Yaz and many other Sox players through the years.
Well Mr. whozat oooook. Ok I’ll write sarcasm every time am trying to be sarcastic just so you can understand and won’t make fool out of yourself buddy.
The Mets are in a weaker division but they were 4-3 against the Yankees this year, that speaks volume of your beloved Yankees.
That just spoke to facing Dan Giese and batting vs a machanically out of sink Wang and our offense falling asleep. So now the Mets fans are back this is going to be fun to watch.

Gardner > Papelbon
Brandon why the excuses. If is about that lets blame the Mets loosing sting to randolph how about that?.....stop making excuses the Yankees stink, period.
Fair enough, Ray – some of my closest cousins are Red Sox fans and we get into great discussions – emphasis on discussions. None of this incendiary garbage. And they would never walk into my house and do it (as I would not in their house). The level of discussion is important (I have seen you here before – I was not really directing my comments at you). I just think that there are some of your brethren who would benefit from a little perspective and tact.
hey we’re pretty honest here Oscar, we call it like we see it. Ray seems to be an avid red sox fan. No red sox fan that came here and talked INTELLIGENT baseball has ever been talked down to on this blog. The sox fans that come on here and talk about how great the red sox are and how awful the Yankees are are going to get called out and exposed as a troll. If you want to have an intelligent baseball conversation then do it – if you’re going to be a troll then do it somewhere else.
You tell um JoeT
Brandon why the excuses. If is about that lets blame the Mets loosing sting to randolph how about that?…..stop making excuses the Yankees stink, period.
I won’t this is too easy
Pete wrote: “That’s just the kind of thing Joe Torre would have done, right? Um, no.”
Um, yes: http://blogs.nydailynews.com/mets/archives/N0934744.jpg
All in good fun.
(Would Joe G have worn the ‘stache if the Yanks had lost today? Probably not. But heading into the all-star break on a winning note, after a tough first half, a bit of levity was not out of place.)
All am saying is with the payroll the Yankees have they shouldn’t be so dependable on rookies, that Pathetic where is all that money going.
Oh and Oscar This http://ballsiest.com/sportsblog/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/cc-sabathia.jpg is why not only will we have a better offense than you, but also better rotation
Sabathia
Wang
Pettitte
Chamberlain
Hughes
>
Beckett
Matsuzaka
Lester
Bucholtz
Wakefield
This pisses me off more the red sox band wagon fans. Josh Hamilton hit a walk-off home run off of K-Rod and the Texas version of Kim Jones asks him how it feels to hit it off of the best closer in the AL
Brandon is ok sometimes when they bash the truth right in my face I stay mute also, trust me thats the smart thing to do.
All am saying is with the payroll the Yankees have they shouldn’t be so dependable on rookies, that Pathetic where is all that money going.”
Uhhh, you do/did. They arent all rookies, but all young like our rookies
Youseless
Pedroia
Papelbon
Lester
Bucholtz
Masterson
Ellsbury

Hahahahahahahahahahah Mariano? Mariano should win the “Kobe” this year. The CY Young lifetime achievement award. Even though he deserves it
“Oh and Oscar This http://ballsiest.com/sportsblog/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/cc-sabathia.jpg is why not only will we have a better offense than you, but also better rotation”
Yeah but for how much more money?????.......oh and risk???????
“I just think that there are some of your brethren who would benefit from a little perspective and tact.”
Rishi, I have to admit that you make a very valid point. I have visited this blog for about two years and I have unfortunately seen a lot of Sox fans come on here and just talk nonsense or even worse.
And Yankee Lover, you make many good points. I acknowledge that the Yankees have by far been in the playoffs, world series, etc. far more than the Red Sox or any other team and have enjoyed great success, and there is something indeed to be said for the times that both teams are competitive because that is when it is really interesting!
Question: does the resulting run count for less if the hit was “lucky”? And does anyone really even care?
Yankees are a summer team so I cant wait until the Yankees take over 1st place in the Wild Card in a few weeks and the Division eventually in August/Sept
Yeah but for how much more money?????…….oh and risk???????”
Money isnt an issue little boy. Oh and what risk? I dont see any, do you?
“Yankees are a summer team so I cant wait until the Yankees take over 1st place in the Wild Card in a few weeks and the Division eventually in August/Sept”
And than loose in the first round of the playoff when A-Rod chokes with his own bat.

Not this year.
“Money isnt an issue little boy. Oh and what risk? I dont see any, do you?”
Have you heard of a guy call Pavado have you. What was it 30 sum millions for sitting on his butt. Thats the only risk at my sight right now. But I smell another one thats probably going to be wearing a Yankees uniform call…..um.. CC.
Honest question from reading the blog, Pete. You seem to, deep-down, dislike Joe Girardi. I’m wondering if it was due to something that he did to you in an interview as a player, or what, but it really comes through in anything you write about the man. You went after him for wearing a fake mustache. That doesn’t seem, youknow, REALLY petty? At all? Really?
I’m just curious- I mean, anything this overt HAS to have a backstory, right? I look forward to reading it!
For most of all of our lives the rivalry was diminished by the Sox’s perpetual, agonizing, oft-repeated failures. When one team wins so many times and the other loses over and over through decades and generations and lifetimes, the rivaly is too one-sided.
Now, finally, the Sox have won a couple times and the rivaly and competition have been enhanced. Of course they’ll never catch up, but yes, it does make things more interesting.
“Not this year.”
Funny…Lmao.
Who the heck is Pavado?
Oh Pavano sorry …..I forgot Yankees fans are so smart they could count to 5 with no help.
And since when is
CC- cy young winner = to Carl Pavano? Or Pavado as you would like to say
Keep digging your grave Oscar. Btw, if you havent read, Brett Gardner is better than Jon Papelbomb
How many Playoff series has the Boston Red Sox beaten the Yankees in?
Wasn’t ‘The Pavado’ a Gilbert & Sullivan musical?
Nick – and here I thought it was a watch company…like a Movado…
Rishi, even a stopped Povado is right twice a day.
“Btw, if you havent read, Brett Gardner is better than Jon Papelbomb”
It would seem to me that comparing Gardner with Papelbon is comparing apples and oranges. They obviously play very different positions.
I’m not dissing Gardner at all or saying who is better because I think Gardner is an exciting young player with speed and other tools.
It just seems that if we are really comparing players Gardner and Ellsbury bring the same kind of energy and quickness to their respective teams.
Who names their kids Oscar these days anyway?
Im sure you dont live in Bahsten since your a Bandwaggon fan, but would they call you Oscah if you did live there?
true, Nick…true
Pavado sounds like the name of a cheese.

Its a joke, dont read too much into it
Pavado, Mikado, Let’s call the whole thing off.
Two quick things. Please Mets fans, yes they beat the Ysnks 4 of 7 this year, but I would love to play in that NL or especially in the NL east. The Phillies? come on, they are very mediocre. That whole league is a full notch down than the AL.
Ray, I actually liked (maybe thats a strong word) respected many of the red sox in the 60`s and 70`s.
Petrocelli, Longborg, Yaz, Boomer George Scott, The Hawk, Rice, Lynn, The Real Pudge, not the imposter in Detroit, etc
Ray – I think it all comes down to the walk off – in fact, I think that is where all the bitterness comes from. It was one game…won’t determine the season…who knows what happens to Gardner when Matsui/Damon get back…
Back to the whole lack of perspective issue
“Its a joke, dont read too much into it”
No is not the guy just doesn’t know cra* about baseball.
Gardner is some ugly dude have you seen him. I mean i thought youkales was ugly but damn.
No is not the guy just doesn’t know cra* about baseball.
Whats Cra*?
Gardner is 1-1 with a game winning hit against Papelbomb, what else do you want to know?
Oscar, I haven’t got time for a law degree at the moment – I’m too busy voting for Giambi.
“gardner got a lucky hit”, you do realize when the Yankees make the playoffs this year, they are going to win the World Series? They now have the one weapon they were missing for many years, the #1 starter power pitcher, Joba Chamberlain. They don’t have that same hole they had for years in the past. Wang is going to be starting game 2.
Gardner is some ugly dude have you seen him. I mean i thought youkales was ugly but damn.”
Hahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahaha You cant even spell your own players name right.
Bandwaggon alert Bandwaggon Alert
PS, there are no men on Earth uglier than Kevin YOUKILIS. There, now you know how to spell your own players name
too much heat in here from posters i’ve never seen before…
‘Night…
Cant hear from Met Fans – that league (the NL) and that division the NL east is a solid notch below the AL.
I look at the Mets main competition, the Phillies, and its a mediocre team.
Ray,
I liked (maybe thats to strong a word) respected many of those 60`s and 70`s red sox, Longborg, Petrocelli, Boomer George Scott, Yaz, The Hawk, Rice, Lynn, the Real Pudge, not the imposter in Detroit, etc

Oh. And I’m too busy voting for Longoria. Steroids are not allowed in the all star game guys.
“gardner got a lucky hitâ€, you do realize when the Yankees make the playoffs this year, they are going to win the World Series? Game 1: Pettitte
Game 2: Wang
Game 3: Chamberlain
You cant give a guy game 1 when he hasnt pitched as an ace for us the whole season.
Oh. And I’m too busy voting for Longoria. Steroids are not allowed in the all star game guys.”
Then its a good thing David Ortiz isnt playing. Oh and Curt Schilling
The Yankees might have the weapon they were missing in Joba but Joba is not going to pitch the entire series. I’ll say you only win when Joba or pettitte pitches no more.
Too bad there can’t be less sox fans like Oscar, and more sox fans like Ray.
As always Wang will choke…..umhu,umhu.
I would say 98% of Red Sox are like Oscar unfortunetly, because the rivalry could be nice with guys like Ray. But instead you have Oscar thinking 1 win could be the be all end all game in a season
Oscar,
What happened to 2007 Beckett?
I just put up a poll on my dorms wall and guest what?.....gardner was voted the ugliest MLB player of all time.
What happened to the 2007 wang…........haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa…out for the season????noooooooooooooooooooooo
I just put up a poll on my dorms wall and guest what?…..gardner was voted the ugliest MLB player of all time.”
You at sleep away camp? Thats cute.
What were the choices?
I agree – Ray seems like a great fan, who looks at things objectively.
What happened to The “Franchise”...??????????????.......out for the season noooooooooooooooooooooo, not the “Franchise”.
“You cant give a guy game 1 when he hasnt pitched as an ace for us the whole season.”
And you can’t give it to Chien-Ming Wang who isn’t going to be the real Chien-Ming Wang. He’ll just be getting back to form then, if he’s even back. Either Joba or Pettitte will pitch game 1, and the other game 2.
What happened to the 2007 wang………..haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa…out for the season????noooooooooooooooooooooo”
Actually he’ll be back in Sept. Good try though
Gardner vs youkilis.

I didnt give it to Wang. I would give it to Pettitte. Wang is a better pitcher away from NY
Gardner vs youkilis.”
Who was the poll given too? We all know you have no friends. So you voting for Gardner doesnt count
Theres no bed time at sleep away camp Oscar?
nothing is uglier than those stupid fake tough guy faces Papelidiot makes while looking in for a sign.
Sheesh,
I really didnt want to stoop to that level-
sorry all
Wait, wait, who said the Yankees are even making the playoff….have you seen thir record…...Pathetic.
Okay all my friends from “the evil empire”....I’m going to call it a night.
Don’t worry….in saying that I am really poking fun at the Sox management because I still can’t believe they said that a few years ago!
Whose Uglier

Uh I said dorm not sleep away camp as you use to with all your male friends.
gardner got a lucky hit!!!=newest moron to grace our presence. Thanks for all the chuckles, Little Timmy,,,now run off to be so you can get up early and go swing on the swings at the park, little boy !
Is funny you say that about Papelbon. He’s ugly when he makes faces but gardner doesn’t even have to make faces and he ugly.lol.
derr. mye name is gardner and Ize cant speell two goode !
Wait, wait, who said the Yankees are even making the playoff….have you seen thir record……Pathetic.”
Hahaha Pathetic? Were 4.5 games behind you. Does that mean you have a pathetic record too?
What women would take Youkilis over Gardner? All I hear is women raving over Gardner here in NYC
Four games is four games.
hahahaha….women in ny have a bad taste.
You also had a 9.5 game lead over us a year ago today. Almost choked it away. I think 4.5 is too close for the Sox to take
“Wait, wait, who said the Yankees are even making the playoff….have you seen thir record……Pathetic.”
Who’s going to stop them? The two teams ahead of them that have been playing way above what they actually are? How is a team like the Rays with a pedestrian offense and a team like the Red Sox with a non-existent bullpen going to hold off the Yankees? It’s really only a matter of time until both the Red Sox and the Rays fall. You can’t play above your actual ability for much more than those two teams have.
wow…4 games is 4 games ?? Really ? how many games is 2 games ?...Is this the advanced math class for the BoSux idiots ?....Hey I have one for ya….how many championships does your team need to come even with the Yankees, Skippy ?....go to the library on your way to the ice cream shop tomorrow, little boy, then you can come back tomorrow night and play with all the big people again !
Not with the team you guys have. Lets see your pitching in the second half and we’ll talk some more later on in the summer.
Women have a bad taste in, well where ever you live. Youkilis literally looks like a retard.
My quarter ran out, cant feed the troll anymore. Good luck with this kid
Wow,
I come here and the place is full of idiot trolls. How lonely do you have to be to come to a Yankees blog when you’re a Sox fan.
1 more post, I wish Oscar wasnt a Sox fan that would disappear when they start to suck, but rest assure, he will be no where close to here WHEN we make our annual summer run and the Sox have there annual tank
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/photos?photoId=1980606&gameId=280706110
Oh god Moises Alou got hurt again
Oh god Pavano got hurt again. Oh no wait it was Phil Hughes.
“1 more post, I wish Oscar wasnt a Sox fan that would disappear when they start to suck, but rest assure, he will be no where close to here WHEN we make our annual summer run and the Sox have there annual tank”
Yup, I’m sorry to come with the bad news for Sox fans, but the numbers for the Sox this year are shouting summer ‘06 all over again. Only one difference, in ‘06 they were in MUCH better position at this date than they are this year.
surprise surprise
a blind man could’ve seen that coming lol
I think Oscar the Grouch is on his period.
“Oh god Moises Alou got hurt again”
I’m surprised. That guy never gets hurt.
I hope they kept the fake staches away from Pavano. He would probably break his nose when applying it to his face.
They should make a TV show where Moises Alou and Carl Pavano journey together and visit dangerous places.
They should make a TV show where Moises Alou and Carl Pavano journey together and visit dangerous places.
Like what places the air ?
Carl Pavano and Moises Alou go Skydiving
Yes, other dangerous places might include parks, theatres, museums, and bookstores. If they really want to get extreme they could send them off to a zoo or aquarium or white water rafting or to John Tesh’s house to listen to that terrible terrible “music” of his.
A day at a big amusement park with these two could be fun as well. They’d probably get hurt while waiting on line for the popular rollercoaster.
