  1. mark - Play Moeller! Yankees can win it all with the players they have.

Happy to be at the top or near the top. My comment is about Posada and nothing else. Posada stinks right now and his attitude stinks even more. I’m not hating everything he’s been to the team over the years. I’m hating the fact that this team has been struggling all season and his only thought is about himself. I bet teams that never steal a base can’t wait to play the Yankees if he’s catching. He’s a complaining spoil sport. It’s not like he’s been benched. Girardi uses him at first and at DH. But that’s not good enough. No he needs to catch even though he can’t throw worth a damn.

I was all for his latest contract. Now I wish he’d disappear. RIGHT NOW he stinks and his attitude stinks worse. How about worrying about the team winning Jorge and backing off until you can do your job right? I know, not a chance.

  2. S.A.- I believe in this team but can the offense stop being so offensive?

Can we just win these next two games?

I have no doubt we can.

    Pete-

Chipper Jones said -If we’re 10 games out by the trading deadline, then the Braves are sellers. If today were the trading deadline these teams would be sellers:
Nationals, Reds, Pirates, Houston, in NL.
    Royals, Indians, Mariners in AL.

Looking for a lefty reliever? Realistically these could be made available: Ron Mahay Jimmy Gobble and Horacio Ramirez of Royals. Arthur Rhodes of Mariners. Jeremy Affeldt of Reds. Tim Byrdak of the Astros. Damaso Marte, John Grabow, Sean Burnett of Pirates.

Looking for a right handed power outfielder? Jose Guillen of the Royals. Hunter Pence of the Astros. Xavier Nady and Jason Bay of the Pirates.

Amazingly the Yankees are still in the race. Personally, with injuries and the type of offense plus aging all-stars I don’t think the current team can pull it off this year.

If the Yankees are buyers, which players from those above mentioned teams would you start up talks and which pieces would it take to get them?

  5. yankee2123

    Traber stinks period.

  6. bubba

Realistically, it’s time to sell. Think of the prospects that could be picked up for Moose, Giambi, Abreu, Damon, Worthless, et al (assuming anyone would have them, of course).

  7. Matt B

I really hope the Yanks don’t pick up Sexon. I can’t believe they would waste a roster spot for a possibility of hitting a home run every now and then. He’s a good defensive option at 1B, but really can’t hit or get on base anymore.

    @ Mark

Posada’s contract is a reward for what he’s done, not what he’s going to do. The Arod situation gave him extra leverage for that fourth year, but even he has to realize that he can’t catch for the entire length of the contract.

mark, give me a team of Posadas in terms of attitude.

it’s disgusting, and quite predictable, that the media spun Posada’s innocuous comments into ‘Posada has tension with Girardi’ types of stories.

  10. BRYN WHITE

    Matt,

We are wasting one now with Moeller

  11. RER - 98

    IMHO …..

    - David Robertson has shown he should be kept.

    - Scott Strickland should be called up from AAA and Dan Giese sent down.

    - After another start, Alfredo Aceves or Daniel McCutchen should replace Rasner in the rotation with Rasner going to long relief / spot starter.

    - LaTroy Hawkins should be DFA’d.

    - Sign Richie Sexson and recall Gonzo.

    - Trade or DFA Betemit.

    - Make a decision with Chad Moeller.

    - Clear 40-man roster space by including Jeff Karstens, Chris Britton, Jeff Marquez and Chase Wright in any deals seeing as they don’t seem as fits in any future plans.

  12. Glenn

    Matt :

There are posters that think Mientkiewicz should be brought back as a late defensive 1st base replacement but Sexson does the equivalent of Doug and is a RH hitter.

  13. 86w183

I’m okay with Sexson as a low risk pickup who fills a need, but he is not close to Mientkewicz defensively.

I want Nady or Bay, but not Guillen who is older and has two more years at $ 12 million per on his deal.

Lefty releiver, MArte, Grabow, Mahay of Fuentes… the others on that list are now better than Billy “bye bye” Traber.

Jorge is fine… at least he cares.. what I don’t get is how this team became so poor at pitch selection at the plate. Every at bat (except Cano) it seems like someone takes a 90-ish fastball right down the middle and then swings at slop in the dirt. Maholm had to be giggling inside watching the Yanks get themselves out.

    have a happy!

  14. Yankee Trader

The Yankees decide on a trade for Nady and Marte.
What will they have to give up, considering the contracts they are picking up?

  15. MJR

I’d rather concentrate on getting Fuentes than Sexon.

Looking for hitting (or even power) from .218 makes little sense to me…and I’m not even smart to begin with. :)
