Fun Fact: Lets compare Red Sox and Yankee pitchers that have come from their farm systems.

Sox Clay and Lester have more no-hitters (2) than Yankees Hughes and Kennedy have wins (0).

I think it would do the team some good to miss the postseason and try to rebuild. They are too old and the veterans are not producing like they need to. And when someone gets injured, no one steps up.

For God's sake, the Sox had to put Schilling (remember that guy?), Ortiz, Colon, DiceK, Lowell, and now Lugo on the DL and they are somehow on top. The difference is that someone has always stepped up. Lester seemed to step into Schilling's role. Sucky JD Drew started hitting. Masterson (a freakin AA pitcher!) took over for Colon and DiceK. Sean Casey, who I kinda like, and Youkilis covered for Lowell's injury. Lugo is a disgrace so they're probably better without him...

The Sox missed the postseason back in 2006 and they have recovered pretty well. We should do the same (though one last WS in this stadium would be amazing). Lets move into the new stadium with a fresh new team and dominate the AL East.

Oh and for the record, signing A-Rod was a mistake IMO. They could've used the extra $300 million to build a solid team. Instead they have one oustanding player and then some guys who can't hit.

Richie Sexton will absolutely fit right in with the current Yankee team. He is hitting .165 with RISP. A natural. Please there has got to be someone out there we can get who is right handed and can hit in the clutch.

Would love to get AJ Burnett, but I seriously doubt the Jays would trade him within the division. If he opts out of his deal, then we could pursue him this offseason, though he is not enamored with NY I hear. Sexson is worth a shot, especially at the league minimum, and given his sucess against leftied this year. As for Nady and Marte, I think our bullpen is fine, and we will get Bruney back after the break, hopefully at the expense of Hawkins. He is useless. What would the Pirates want for Nady?

Bedard’s velocity has improved as he’s filled out.

He throws 90 mph, sits 87-88

He now complements a low-90s fastball with a curveball and changeup and has the uncanny ability to throw any pitch at any time. His terrific command is evidenced by a career SO/BB ratio of 4:1. Bedard consistently keeps the ball down in the zone and has yielded just seven career home runs.

Where is Whozat or CB when I need them.

the funny thing about this team is that the bullpen has been absolutely lights out this year and the starting pitching with moose, pettitte and joba is a very good top three.

having damon and matsui out of the lineup is a killer, both were batting above .300 and were having fantastic years.

cashman needs to make a trade for a bat or two. maybe an xavier nady or something along those lines.

i still think we're going to win the wildcard. tampa has come pummeling back to earth, if you haven't noticed.

I wouldn’t be so quick to judge Bedard given the loser clubs he has been stuck on. He’s never had a good bullpen and it’s possible he was overused at a young age.

Stop..just stop..he is what he is. This guy isn't 24 or 26 he's 29 and has been a burden on 2 teams already, one of those teams were waiting for him to be a stud, the other overpaid him, this year away from Safeco he has a 5.73 ERA this is not a strong point to selling him and a team would have to be desperate to get him.

Erik Bedard -- LHP -- Middle of the Rotation Starter: Few pitchers dominated their league like the 22-year-old Bedard did the high Class A Carolina League in the first half of last season.

Only a shoulder injury slowed him at the midway point,

but Bedard now appears healthy once again and should start at Class AA Bowie in 2002.

A sixth-round pick in the 1999 draft out of Norwalk (CT) Junior College, Bedard was not deemed worthy of starting the 2000 season in low Class A Delmarva's rotation and only joined the rotation due to injuries on the staff. Then, he threw a complete-game shutout -- fanning 14 batters without issuing a walk -- in his third start after joining the rotation and went on to help Delmarva to the league title by going 9-4 with a 3.57 ERA and fanning over a batter per inning.

The first half of last season was another story entirely. The 6-1, 180-pound southpaw collected double-digits in strikeouts in three straight starts in May and yielded just three runs over one span of six outings

before the shoulder injury forced him to miss six weeks in the middle of the season.

Bedard answered any questions as to the health of his shoulder by collecting 12 strikeouts over seven innings in his final outing of the regular season.

Farnsworth resisted pitching back-to-back games for a long time under Torre. Girardi gave him a little nudge and he has performed just fine in such instances.
