Johnny Damon was supposed to hit off a tee today in Tampa. But according to the Associated Press, his sprained shoulder was too sore. His workout will be pushed back a few days.
â€œHad a little tough time sleeping last night,â€ Damon said after undergoing treatment. â€œToday it felt a little sore. Weâ€™re just going to hold back the swinging at least two more days. Hopefully it wonâ€™t be too long of a time.â€
In other rehab news:
* Hideki Matsui took some swings inside and got treatment on his knee. â€œI think everything is progressing as planned,â€ Matsui said through a translator. â€œToday I kept the workout and everything light. So far, everything is progressing.â€
There is no date yet for when Matsui will start a running program, a key step before he can play in minor league rehab games. â€œRunning, we donâ€™t know right now,â€ Matsui said.
* Phil Hughes threw 25 fastballs during his second bullpen session. He also threw 10 curveballs from halfway up the mound.
* Eric Milton threw another bullpen.
