Not that I agree, but ERA and wins always win out in these type of decisions/arguements. Same goes for Cy Young voting at the end of the year. CG, not so much. Lee also gets bonus points for the "pleasant surprise" factor...

Ask anyone who knows what they're talking about who'd they rather have on their team this year, money aside, and I would guess most would say Haliday, by a lot.

"Cliff Lee
2.31 ERA, 12-2, 1.03 WHIP, 1 CG

Roy Halladay
2.71 ERA, 11-6, 1.01 WHIP, he also has 7 CG"

Halladay's innings per start are at 7.5, which is remarkable by today's standards. Still, Lee is the league leader in ERA and wins and is in the top 5 or 6 in K's. As far as innings per start, he is at 6.95, which is second only to Halladay.

Hallday's the league's best pitcher, but Lee isn't a bad call.

Agree with Buddy B. We're talking about the 2008 ASG. Not the "forever" ASG. Cliff Lee is 12-2, 2.31. Halladay is 11-6, 2.71. So, THIS year Lee deserves to be the starter.

Rebecca-

Last year in SF , ASG tix went down dramatically the day before. Batting practice is awesome for the ASG.

Good Luck on getting tix Rebecca!

Well, according to Craigslist, HR Derby tickets are being sold right now for less than face value...hope the same thing happens tomorrow with ASG tickets!

(I know it's a way long shot, kind of like the chances that Rasner will throw a no hitter...but still...I can hope, right?)
