"think cash wouldn’t make the johan trade now? hughes needs to get his stuff together"

Hughes was pitching with a broken rib for over a month before anyone realized the problem, so I dont know what you mean by he needs to get his "stuff together". That suggests he has some kind of attitude problem.

Hughes was down in Tampa practically the entire winter getting himself into physical condition for this season ... his attitude and work ethic should not be questioned.

It is unfortunate and somewhat mysterious that it has taken so long for him to begin throwing again ... but the Yankees are being very cautious with Hughes because of the potential they see in him.

Besides, he isnt the first young baseball talent to have his career be put on hold due to injuries at a young age ... Chipper Jones was all set to be the Braves starting shortstop back in 1993, but he broke his leg in spring training and missed the entire season that year. Look how his career turned out.

What about Jose Reyes ... or ... your boy, Josh Beckett?

Besides, none of Hughes injuries were with his pitching arm ... it's not like he needed TJ surgery.

The Yanks have invested a lot of money in A-Rod chasing and eventually breaking Bond's HR "record(*)."

It would be foolish of them to make A-rod's challenge more difficult by giving Bonds the opportunity to hit some additional dingers.

"Yeah Nady is terrible this year, get a clue!"

This and year being the key words. Punch of Nady's career stats. He's garbage. A glorified bench player.

We need young, right handed power. Not a 30 year old platoon guy.

Bonds is strictly a one-trick pony and that one trick- the long ball, definitely began to depart him in the past couple of seasons. He can no longer play left field, he can't run, and he would clog up the basepaths possibly more than Giambi does. Do you honestly think that Bonds could score from first on a double or from second on a single? Maybe once in a blue moon. There are too many guys in the lineup like that now, the Yankees have no need for another one.

"why don’t you guys want bonds? you’re doing me a favor then by trotting out the justin christians and wilson betemits of the world.

think cash wouldn’t make the johan trade now? hughes needs to get his stuff together"

we don't do the Red Sox favors. we do the Yankees favors. there are 28 other teams not called the Boston Red Sox that matter just as much.

no, we wouldn't make the Santana trade. we wouldn't make it 100 out of 100 times.

worry about fighting off those Devil Rays, Sox Troll. get those wins now before we retool, you lose your two big meal tickets, and the natural order of things returns.

Exactly what has a 45 yeasr old player done in the last 10 months that leads you to believe that he can hit above .225-.230?

Again, from another thread...

Two words: Raul Ibanez.

He is a left fielder (although his range sucks- that shouldn’t make him different from any other Yankee left fielder), hits left handed, hits lefties well, and has decent numbers with RISP.

More importantly he is in the last year of his contract so they wouldn’t have to give up an arm and a leg to acquire him with Seattle knowing he will be back next year.
