I have never, in all of my years of watching Yankee baseball hated a player more than Paplebum. He hijacked what was supposed to be a very secial weekend by saying stupid things in the press. I wonder what happened behind closed doors – did Jeter and Mo say something to him?

I understand the Yankee/RedSox rivalry is very heated but he clearly crossed the line with his actions/comments over the past week. It would surprise me one bit to see some sort of action come against him in the very near future. Players have a way of policing themselves and now that all of this info has come out from the reporters, he’s going to have to deal with the consequences.

Jackie Jensen- i’ll close by agreeing with you. Jeter was there for the entire game and A Rod needed to be there. That is a bad job out of him.

anyone that knows baseball remembers that Jackie Jensen and not Josh Hamilton is king ofd the HR derby.

I think Jensen beat Mantle and Aaron in back to back weeks.

what business did Ortiz have taking the spotlight off of Hamilton who was putting on a show for the fans.

Ortiz (who is a class act most of the time) should have stayed where he was as opposed to “walking off the field with the cameras on him” Imagine if during the Derby in ’99 Derek Jeter made his way to home plate (or walked off like Ortiz) to take the spotlight off of McGuire when he was hitting those bombs onto the turnpike.

Jeter would have booed out of the stadium just like ORtiz was on Monday.

you Sawx fans are just as jaded as Yankee fans but you guys are more sensative.

they booed Reggie at Fenway in 1999

they also booed every other Yankee except Torre and Yogi.

They made fun of Jorge’s kid at Fenway in ’03 to the point where Jorge wanted to go into the stands after the guy.

so don’t get high and mighty Red Sawx fans… you guys are just as bad if not worse

8th inning disappointment ,,, if that is the case then why isn’t mo cocky? you do not have to be cocky,you chose to be or don’t know any better and another thing,papelbon gave up the single that eventually scored.he has been blowing leads all year and is regressing.he is very quickly turning into billy wagner,a few good years and maybe one of the best but never the best.mo has been the best every single year for the most part and this is his best year.the numbers he is putting up are almost impossible.papelbon will never put up the numbers mo will and is.

You’re hallucinating. Torre said he did the switch that way to make sure there where cheers for Nomar and not boos for Jeter, and that’s what happened. Jeter even had fun with the crowd when batting the next inning by mimicking Nomar’s quirky warmups.

Why are so many of you regulars so obsessed with “trolls.”
Peter does a great job with this blog, and as a Red Sox fan I am interested in what’s going on with the Yanks. Kind of goes hand in hand that if you’re a fan of one team, you have an interest in the other, right? I’ve found this to be the best place to get info, thanks to Peter’s updates and some posters’ informed commentary.
In order to be a legit poster here in your eyes do I need to post 60 times a day and say only nice things about the Yanks? This is a great forum for talking baseball. Isn’t it a little more interesting when a Sox fan – or any other non-Yankee fan – chimes in with some thought that comes from a different perspective?
