ichiro was actually getting better each year from 05-07. this year is a blip and he's still hitting .304 with a .366 OBP. perfect player for this team. it's the biggest no brainer of no brainers.

I don't see Ichiro getting traded. It was a sports writer out here that started all this, not the team. I thought he made a pretty good argument, but the Mariner's front office is pretty disfunctional.

That said I would love to see Ichiro in pin stripes. He is slow in the same way that lighting is slow. Yes his average is down to .302 or some where around that, but he is just sick defensively, he wreaks havoc on the basepaths, and would score heaps of runs for the Yankees. Plus it has been my dream for a few years to see Ichiro hitting in front of Jeter. Though maybe it should be Damon now.
With Damon at dh and Abreu in left the outfield would be stocked with plus arms and pretty good range. Melky could move to right and his routes to flies would be less of an issue.

Randy L,

I too can't wait to see that Trenton and Scranton dynasty blossom.

This blog has turned into the Minor League Yankee blog and it's just so fricking silly to see people in here latch themselves to prospects who won't even become quality major league players.

I swear, the direction of some of this fanbase is just baffling.

It seems like you'd rather lose so the kids get chances than win at the big league level. This isn't KC. This isn't the Bad News Bears. You want a team full of prospects, go root for the Marlins.

If the GM in Seattle is dumb enough to put Ichiro on the block and Cashman and the Stein's do not acquire him, it's a joke.

Ichiro is exactly what this team needs. Speed, defense and on base percentage.

Considering the core of our team in Jeter, Mo, Pettitte, Posdad and Arod are also in win now mode at this stage of their careers, it would make sense to make a win now trade, no?

Do you hate them? Is that why you wouldn't trade some prospect who can't even play in the majors to help the big league team win? I guess all they gave this organization and this fanbase should be looked over and we should all lock in 2010 when that fantasy outfield featuring Jackson and Tabata will be hitting .210 at the all star break.

If any of you say you'd rather have Melky in CF for the next 4 years instead of Ichiro, then you are not Yankee fans and should go to Chad Jennings blog and lap up the prospects with all your love.

"At some point during the 3-game series in Boston on July 25-27, Sexson will be stationed at 1st base and Pedroia will get on base. The 1st base umpire will stop the game saying that batboys cannot be baserunners when he sees the size comparison."

But isn't Sexson a bit to tall to be a batboy?

No I can't do this already!

Come on Sexson!!

"it was off Cordero ?"

Yup. He allowed 4 runs in the ninth while retiring only one batter.

Great. Next the Mets face Aroyyo and the Fogg. The Volquez game will probably be a rainout.

"I’m just surprised Tatis is still hitting, this is really on Dusty Baker he just can’t manage a BP to save his life. David Wright is taking his MVP swings."
