It was a sports writer out here that started all this, not the team. I thought he made a pretty good argument, but the Mariner's front office is pretty disfunctional. That said I would love to see Ichiro in pin stripes. He is slow in the same way that lighting is slow. Yes his average is down to .302 or some where around that, but he is just sick defensively, he wreaks havoc on the basepaths, and would score heaps of runs for the Yankees. Plus it has been my dream for a few years to see Ichiro hitting in front of Jeter. Though maybe it should be Damon now. With Damon at dh and Abreu in left the outfield would be stocked with plus arms and pretty good range. Melky could move to right and his routes to flies would be less of an issue.
