I’ve been debating this all night. Someone needs to stop Bobby Meachem, but does him sending A-rod earlier in the game and the collision at home plate with the Kurt Suzuki have anything to do with Suzuki misplaying that ball on the Abreu triple that scored Jeter.

I know Jeter isn’t half as big as A-rod, but was another collision in the back of Suzuki’s head when he misplayed that should-be out?

I can’t tell. All season Meachem has been sending them on plays where they are out by atleast 5 feet, but I am starting to wonder if this is just a more aggressive approach that Girardi has for the team coming around third.

It does force the other team to make a play. I’m not saying Bobby Meachem is making good decisions, just that maybe he knows he is making bad decisions with the idea being, “let’s be more aggressive and make them throw us out.”

Any thoughts?

I admit Hmmn, I did not miss you one iota, but then again, I don't lament your return either.

I always appreciate intelligent commentary even when I often disagree with it.

Pete,

Roberto Kelly also wore #39. All-Star for the Yankees, Traded for Paul O'Neill, All-Star for the Reds...

Hardly Craig Wilson...

Nice job by the Yankees today. Looking foward to tomorrow's matchup:

Sean Gallagher(4-4, 4.25) vs. Joba Chamberlain(2-3, 2.62)

Now lets hope the Sox lose tonight against Lackey..and the Yanks move closer to the top of the AL EAST.

Go Yankees! Kevin

"BTW - on the A-Rod HR-RBI ratio, his average this year is 1.45 and the AL average for 2008 is 1.61, so yes, he is below the league norm."

His ratio is down this year but it might also have something to do with the 2 guys batting in front of him have 40 and 50 point drops in their 2008 vs career OBP %.

"Anyone seen Carlos Lee from Astros? He has mad power."

He's a disaster in the field, and he's signed to a big contract for four more years. He doesn't get on base as much as you'd like. He's an overpriced DH in the making.
