"Do you think the Yankees would go for him?"

manny couldn't play left field well at yankee stadium because of it's size and there's still going to be a logjam at dh.

i think the yankees will just be happy with the subtraction in boston if manny leaves and consider that a plus.

i like manny because, despite his antics, he's a ballplayer with a capital B. he plays baseball, and the operative word is play.

i mean it is supposed to be fun.
... and he's a lock for the hall of fame.
what's not to like.

"what’s your take as a red sox fan on manny and management in boston?"

Randy, that is a very interesting question. We all know that each summer Manny goes through a period of time in which he seems to be unhappy being in Boston.

But there seems to be a difference this time. John Henry has been quoted saying some things about Manny, and I don't recall other years that the ownership publicly responded to Manny's antics.

I think they are sending Manny a message that his games will only be tolerated to a certain point, and that pushing and shoving Red Sox ticketing/scheduling staff goes over the line or allegedly letting Mariano just throw strikes without swinging.

Whether one agrees with it or not the Red Sox have demonstrated that they are willing to let star players leave the team such as Nomar, Pedro, Damon, and Lowe.

I think how Manny does these last two and half months of the regular season will have a lot of weight in how the Sox respond. I think it is apparent that his bat speed is diminishing and so if the Sox don't pick up the 20 million dollar option I wonder how many teams would consider giving Manny that type of money at this stage in his career.

And for the nonpinkhats.

Yankees are only 3 behind the swooning Red Sox in the loss column.

I left the diapers for the pink hats. Time to fly some to Boston.

what's your take as a red sox fan on manny and management in boston?

i thought there was no chance even before the season that they'd pick up the option for 2009.
