washburn is not worth it.rasner and wash have almost the exact same numbers,era,baa,etc.... and wash is due 14 million through 2009,forget it,very bad move.the yankees refused to make any moves lately and no they wan't a pitcher who has an era close to 5,hitters are batting 2.98 against him and he gave up 131 hits in 110 innings, terrible, rasner stinks so does ponson but 14 million for wash when anyone in house can duplicate for league minimum.bring up mcutchen, acevez or trade for an ace.that 14 million can go toward cc in 2009 and pay 3/4 of his salary plus with wang, joba, hughes and pettitte and moose probably coming back there is no room especially if we get an ace like we should.with our young bullpen and cc,wang, joba as the 1-3 look out, there will be no stopping us.

Jarrod Friggin' Washburn is a stud. As soon as the Yankees get him, they will be the favorites in the American league East.

Seattle resident here- I get the pleasure of watching the Mariners lose and their absolute ineptitude. Let me sum up my in-depth analysis from someone who has seen every game he has pitched this year.

HE SUCKS-NOT JUST THIS YEAR BUT OVER THE LIFE OF HIS TIME IN SEATTLE. SAFECO IS A PITCHER'S PARK- IT IS HUGE, AND HE STILL SUCKS HERE. WHY WOULD YOU PAY 10 MILLION AND BE SADDLED WITH ANOTHER YEAR OF A SUBPAR PITCHER WHEN YOU CAN HAVE THE SAME RESULT FOR $300,000 A YEAR?

Options that are equal to or better than Washburn- Rasner, Karstens, Kennedy, Giese, Pavano.

I wouldn't have any more confidence in Washburn over Rasner. The way everyone in the rotation is pitching right now, you don't make any changes at the deadline, but I'll put in another vote for Aceves if the time should come.

There is no reason whatsoever to think that Washburn would pitch better than Rasner. Actually the more I look at it, it's amazing how similar the two are.

If you want to throw $14M away because of some misguided notion that Washburn is a good pitcher, you've got a lot to learn. If you think that Washburn's career record at Yankee stadium is remotely relevant, then you're delusional.

who was accused twice of statuatory rape? i seem to be out of the loop on this one.

whoever that is, of course, i would never want that player in pinstripes. there are those on here who probably say they don't care. i wonder if they'll still feel the same way if they think about their one-day teenage daughter.

I would go for Washburn (unless he's the potential rapist), but i really, really do not want to pay him $10 million next year. that's just a bad contract to eat. i'd rather hold down fort with Ponson and Rasner, if that's the case.

This team's been good enough to go 10 games over .500. With the regulars returning, guys like Gardner can assume roles they're more suited for on the team, which makes us more solid.

Then again, someone did suggest a trade that I'm 100% behind and would fill needs for two teams. Yup. It's time for a Latroy Hawkins for Carlos Beltran swap. C'mon, Omar. You guys SO would have won that game last night with LaTroy on the mound in the 9th.
