But I live close to UC Irvine, and theirs is a classic as well. The best was when they were in the College World Series 2 years ago (a couple of Riverdogs players, OF's Holliday and Morris, were on that team). They shorten the name on the front of their baseball jerseys to 'Eaters. In their 1st game they played Oregon State, who you may remember are the Beavers. Plus, I did go to Santa Cruz. Maybe I just have to go to places that have goofy nicknames. The name "Tourists," has been around since the twenties. Earle Combs played for them. Perhaps my utter hatred of Pavano - based on his abysmal time with us - has clouded my view. I don't know, I would hire Manny if I thought we could win. The only two people I really hate seeing in pinstripes are Bonds and Pavano. I would rather try IPK or Hughes again. Or somebody else. It feels like Pavano wins if he gets to showcase with us.
