When a players is DFA the team still has ten days to move him to another team. the Yankees still control Hawkins and could use his contract to offset a contract they are picking up if they find a willing partner.

I’m sure Seattle tried to get the Yanks to give up something for Sexson, but with his contract there was no chance at all. Hawkins is owed about $ 1.3 M so it’s not out of the question.

Cano is not going to be traded any time soon. If the right deal came along in the offseason, you have to entertain it, but otherwise, what’s the point?

Trade Hawkins!

What is everyone’s thoughts on Nady so far? He’s only got two games in and has probably never played in Fenway before, but he looked kind of crappy yesterday out in LF.

Here’s a good one: if the Sox put Manny on waivers, the Yankees pick him up!!! hahahahaha. Doubt it. But don’t be mistaken, you know Cashman will look into him in the offsaeason.

i think they’d have to get a guy who is front end and young in return, but i dont think Cano is completely untouchable.

i’d rather say its really, really, highly unlikely the Yankes would trade Cano for pitching.
