JB Cox and Bruney are also sitting down there, I would assume Bruney will come compete with Veras and Marte for Farns's spot.

Melancon's got to be knocking on the door to his innings limit. He's around 75 for the year.

IPK is making his case for another shot. If Ponson gets conked around again, unless Washburn is acquired, he's the next in line.

IPK will be a reliable pitcher. The similiarities to Paul Byrd are pretty eerie. And I'd take a young Paul Byrd.

It's funny, Cashman's quote when asked if Melancon could be in the majors this year was something like "I wouldn't rule it out completely" and I thought that was fishy considering how he left the door open, even though all you heard about was innings limits and not rushing him, etc.

Now, the door seems wide open considering he's moving up and Farnsworth is out. If he pitches in Scranton like he had been in Trenton, I think we'll see him this year.

Raymagnetic,

In what universe is 3.65 ERA and 1.35 WHIP dominating (in all caps, no less!)?? You don't watch much baseball, do you?

they still are playing chicken with Washburn...since Rasner pitched well yesterday, it hurts the Mariners, they were banking on him not pitching well, making Yanks more desparate for Washburn and then in turn giving up B. Gardner....but Ras came thru and pitched well (save the Nady mess!)

IF the Yanks don't get another pitcher, watch how the rest of the season will turn out. Yanks will be about the 5th or 6th best team in the AL. Pudge won't make as much as a difference than a pitcher would at this point.

Oh well, talk later. Good win today for Yanks, but should have swept the O's or won two out of three. They need to win 3 out of 4 against LA. If Rasner and Ponson pitch two games against LA, that is two loses there. So, Yanks going 2-2 against LA will be a feat for them.
