The Yankees made another big trade, swapping Kyle Farnsworth for Pudge Rodriguez. Wearing No. 12, Rodriguez will be at the Stadium today and quite likely in the lineup.

There was a game, too. The Yankees hammered the Orioles as Joba Chamberlain dominated again.

Meanwhile, Jorge Posada had surgery This notebook also has an update on Hideki Matsui.

In all the trade hubbub, I forgot about this.

Kevin Millar was asked whether he thought Edwar Ramirez was throwing at him.

“One hundred percent,” he said. “I was upset they threw him out of the game because he’s really good hitting. He’s a cute little fellow, he doesn’t throw that hard and he doesn’t have very good stuff. So it’s probably a good idea they threw him out, because it probably would’ve been in Monument Park.”

That’s pretty funny. What’s even funnier is that Millar is 1 for 4 against Ramirez with three K’s.

He’s a cute little fellow? hahahaahahahhhhaha

  2. MoBoy(aka McLovin)

Edwar is too small to be throwing.Millar would have killed Ramirez.Veras should have thrown at Millar.

    Man I miss Tanyon Strutze.

  3. DFox

I guess for Millar’s standards, 1/4 is a great average. He really isn’t anything more than a .250 hitter.

Next time Joba sees him he should hit him with a 100mph fastball and see if Millar thinks he’s a cute little fellow with not very good stuff.

  4. tim boat

Maybe we should have kept Krazy Kyle after all. He would have buzzed Millar and then body slammed him to boot. And you know Millar wouldn’t have mouthed off about Professor Farnsworth.

  5. c

I agree, Joba should hit him. It’ll be so adorably cute, right Mr. .250?

  6. Guiseppe Franco

    Stop with the headhunting garbage.

It’s all fun and games until an opposing flamethrower retaliates and drills A-Rod and he breaks a bone.

You keep playing that game and you open up your best players to target practice.

Let it go. Beat these teams on the field. There’s no better payback than that.

  7. SJ44

He threw at him and it was dumb and unnecessary.

He may be “Mr. .250″ but, if the Yankees don’t make the playoffs, he may be the reason why.

He has absolutely killed the Yankees this year.

  8. saucY

i don’t know about Millar, but where i’m from calling another guy “cute” usually means………

  9. lester holt's mouth

If the redneck is so tough why didn’t he run out there and do something about it? I’d love the chance to deposit a fist in that clowns mouth….someone give me a ball. Seriously “ME”-lar, you are always just one day away from where you should be playing.

    Japan

  10. The Ghost of Alfred Manuel Martin

We’ll see how Millar feels when older, more established Edwar puts his very respectable 92 mph fastball in Millar’s ribcage.

  11. B.Stanley

“He’s a cute little fellow, he doesn’t throw that hard and he doesn’t have very good stuff.”

Which is why he threw 9 consecutive no-hit innings, right?

“That’s pretty funny. What’s even funnier is that Millar is 1 for 4 against Ramirez with three K’s.”

    Genius.

  12. Bronx Jeers

I’ve always disliked that moron. One of my least favorite Red Sox of all time. And that’s saying a lot. A-rod didn’t say squat when Cabrera beaned him. Took it like a man. Millar should be happy someone thinks high enough of him to throw at him. He’s not even an “idiot” he’s a moron who aspires to be an idiot. Cowboy up? Cowboy this you redneck piece of garbage.

  13. FergsKU

Edwar should respond with something to the effect of, “Well I may be small but I made it to the big leagues the right way, Scab!”

  14. Brent (Yankees Need a Pick-Me-Up)

I thought the “cute little fellow” park was funny, but Millar must not have seen Edwar’s stats lately. The guy that “doesn’t have very good stuff” has been lights-out.

About the headhunting: It seriously needs to end. Purpose-pitches are one thing, retaliation is another, but you could kill a guy by throwing at his head. It’s baseball. Don’t let it take over.

  15. pete

millar just doesn’t make any sense with that comment. he has 3 k’s against edwar. that means that he can’t hit “not very good stuff”. how stupid. he doesn’t have a chance against edwar’s changeup.

  16. pat

    Harmless banter.

Millar knows the deal in NY. He says something outrageous, he gets press. It kills him to be fading into obscurity in Baltimore.

  17. pete

good hitting? ramirez is like the one yankee pitcher that millar isn’t hitting .700 w/ 12 hrs against this season. BTW I hate aubrey huff too, but at least he’s good against other teams, too.

  18. bru

i agree you have to pitch inside especially the players like manny with boddy armor taking half the plate away and if someone on the yankees gets hit or buzzed then send a message back but if we lose arod or someone else then that will be no joke.

  19. yankee2123

Millar’s a joker, but he’s right about the head hunting. There’s a difference between pitching inside, and head hunting. Girardi is playing a dangerous game, and if he keeps it up the league might come down hard next time.

  20. MrFinchley

Millar should stick to eating donuts. He has gotten a bit chubby as an O.

  21. YankeesLuv

Uh oh I’m scared of Millar….LOL yeah right.

  22. yanksrule

    Typical meathead

  23. michelle(long time reader, Not so Seldom Poster) I Love It's Its

Edwar’s Myspace page has a message on it that says ” Why on earth did Girardi argue, he knew it was coming”

so edwar did go headhunting. I think its great, this is a game we havent played in 13 yrs. Torre would never let it happen. Now teams know we wont back done….

What we’re saying now is dont F with us or else our flamethrowing 95lb pitcher will F you up with his changeu errr ..Fastball..

  24. KATGILL

i was watching this game. edwar had no reaction whatsoever to this pitch, except that which would be consistent with a WP. even while the ump was ejecting him, edwar had no reaction at all: NONE.

now. reason dictates: either edwar totally blew the pitch, or he’s the most stone, cold pitcher i’ve seen on the mound since don drysdale.

edwars wp and hbp career averages are the exact same. so it’s really hard to concede this was intentional. no one was warming up to replace him, and we were ahead a zillion runs.

guess millar didn’t feel like smackin it to monument park on robertson, eh?

  25. Jeter's Future Wife

did the LaTroy Hawkins “unload” really happen? no one talked about it, not that it deserves too much attention by any stretch….

  26. sr. panga

Kyle Farnsworth was a gas can. Everytime he came out of the bullpen, the game went up in flames.

I’m sooooo happy “the gas can” is gone.

  27. MassholeThis

You know what else is funny? That time the Yankees blew the 2005 ALCS – the biggest choke in the history of the sport – and the Boston Red Sox went on to win the World Series. That’s what’s really funny.

  28. rob

lost in all this: that the “retaliation” at millar was grade-A BS. danny cabrera has no control and didn’t mean to hit… who was it, jeter? pretty sure it was jeter. too lazy to scroll up, where it probably says. but he has terrible control. awful control. and his throw was unintentional, i’d stake my reputation on it. it was one of the most unprofessional things i’ve ever seen to come back with a “retaliation throw” at anyone, because it was so obviously not intentional.
