"Move Nady up and drop Jeter in the lineup. Who is with me???"

I'm half with you. Nady should be moved up to 5th. Jeter should stay in the two spot.

Too many of you are hung up on Hughes' "gun" readings. Hughes was never high 90s. What made/will make him effective is the late movement he possessed on both is fastballs, as well as the sharpness of his curveball.

Take a look at Robertson and how effective he is with gun readings of 88-91. MOVEMENT!

"Fredo- That is a bit unfair I know he was consistently 92-93 up here in the bigs but he had the occasional 95 mph burst so he can do it doing it with consistency is the key."

Not being unfair, Al. When healthy he's 92-93 occasionally topping out at 95, maybe 96. He does not and has never sat at 95-96.

Signing Texeira should not be attempted if he wants more than 4 years. Unfortunately, the Yankees have too many DH types and longterm deals that make it almost impossible to sign an everyday first baseman without creating a log jam.
Posada is likely done as an everyday catcher - so that leaves 1Base/DH for him. Damon and Matsui are not everyday outfielders anymore - DHs. Giambi (if they are dumb enough to sign him for $6-8 Million) is a part time DH/1B. What about Miranda, who's signed through 2010?
Then there is ARod who will certainly not be an effective third baseman for the next 9 years.

NYY- Why would the Yanks ever give 100 mil to Manny Ramirez can anyone actually think how terrible it would be to watch a 41 year old Manny( at the end of that deal) playing for the Yanks. I think Tex is overrated the only big toy the Yanks are gonna pick up this offseason is CC.

"I think Phil’s stuff along with a 95-96 mph fastball"

Hard to buy 95-96 when the same gun had him at 101 on a pitch. He was never 95-96 before he was injured or coming up. Seems kind of unlikely now.

Brandon- There have been rumors of Hughes having increased his velocity I am sure Chaves can only help that cause. I think Phil's stuff along with a 95-96 mph fastball as opposed to 91-93 would dramatically increase his effectiveness.

SOS - I wonder if the rib thing was something that happened slowly over time, even starting in spring training. Remember when he came down there early, he was terrific and then, halfway through March, he just didn't have it any more? I have zero medical knowledge, so that's really all just hopeful theorizing, but it'd be great if he comes back as amazing as he was in early spring training. I think, at a minimum, Phil's injury gives Phil an explanation for the horrible start this year, a way to put it behind him and go back to being his very talented self.
