Greetings from Gate 86

Here we are at the Kelly Tripucka International Airport in Newark waiting for a flight to Dallas. There’s a TV here at the gate and the CNN person just said that three people have died in Texas because of the heat.

It’s supposed to be 107 degrees by 1 p.m. Meanwhile Tropical Storm Edouard is bearing down on Texas as well. Short of Mexico invading, I’m not sure what else can go wrong there. But if they survived Jessica Simpson, they’ll survive this.

As for the Yankees, this is a huge trip. They have nine home games between now and Sept. 11. So every game they can win on the road is precious at this point.

(Meanwhile, it’s very amusing that this airport has a Ron Jon Surf Shop. Because when you think surf, sand and beach, you obviously think Newark).

OK, they’re calling the flight. Check back in later for the lineups assuming my rental car doesn’t melt on the highway.
