I'm afraid they'll be swept by the Rangers and overtaken. I'm starting to believe the "curse" has been transferred to A-Rod. As a fan, I was really disappointed in Joba's whininess last night. I know he'll be back, he just wanted some reason as to why he gave up so many runs.

I see the Angels losing the last three games to the Rangers on purpose so that they face them instead of the Yankees or Boston. Any takers?

Alvin---- Joba has three wins in 12 starts. Assuming he'd win 5 of 10 is more than a bit optimistic.

It's time to call up Kennedy, toss Rasner, leave Giese in the pen since he's pretty much proven he's not a starter and call up Wright for Saturday.

It's also time for Jeter, ARod, Giambi and Melky to start producing on a daily basis. No matter how the Yanks patch together a rotation, they still are more than a run a game down from last year.

I don't think Joba being out for the season will hurt the Yanks as much as it would appear at first. He has 9 games left. Assume that he would have won 5 of them, lost 2, and got no-decisions for 2. Now replace him with a number 5 starter from the minor leagues (Kennedy). Do you think Kennedy can go 3-3-3 in the games he pitches? If so, then Joba's injury only costs the Yanks 2 games. Two games, of course, is pretty big when you're trying to catch-up, but if you agree with my math then it's nothing near insurmountable.

Brandon I agreed and said Wright should be up, I think he is such a better option than Rasner. I absolutly say give this Kid a shot, Hes only 25 yrs old still. I think he could be a decent spot starter for us

Without making a 40 man roster move assuming Joba does miss his next turn the choices are Kennedy, Wright or more Rasner. If the Yankees want Kennedy to continue working on things in AAA and Rasnor is going to stay in the pen it means the only logical choice is Chase Wright who lines up to pitch on Saturday.

I'd have no problem with giving Chase a chance, I still think he can be a decent pitcher. He had absolutely no business being up last year when he was, what with the 2 career starts in Double A he had to his name at the time, so I don't hold that against him. I think it set him back a while (was struggling in the minors along with Clippard last year after their respective demotions) but he appears to have worked through that now.

His control has been a lot better thus far this season right? As long as he has control I think he can get ML hitters out.

im with mark, i wouldnt give a fit pitcher a 7 yr deal, let alone an overweight one. nothing against heavy players but you have to think his size is going to become more and more of a factor as he ages into his 30's. even a 5 yr deal is a big risk, but i wouldnt go any further than that on him, and even at 5 yrs id be very worried.

"If he can be had for a four year deal, isn’t he a better pick up?"

Dangerous. Guy came into '08 having averaged 135 IP over the three previous seasons. He's never pitched in the AL. I just don't see him as a real safe bet.

Looking towards next year, everybody seems to think it is a given that CC will get a lot of attention from the Yanks. I am totally against giving 7 years to any pitcher, let alone an overweight one with a hitch in his delivery that screams inconsistency over the long haul; and that is what it will likely take to land him.
However, I have not heard anybody talk about Ben Sheets. He has had some injury issues, but seems to be past that now, and as we just saw, any pitcher is one pitch away from injury. If he can be had for a four year deal, isn't he a better pick up?
