I just think Britton is mediocre at best. Wasn’t he supposed to be pretty decent when we traded for him? I also take the 60 innings he pitched with Baltimore, with a grain of salt, considering they suck and probably rushed him to the majors.

You aren't looking at this right...He played AGAINST New York and others and did very well. Like Edwar and the others, he needs to play to keep it together.

My next question to anyone....Could he possibly hold the record for the most call-up/call-downs in a single season??? LOL

The next starting pitcher that the minor league system will produce as an actual "prospect"" - and not a fill in such as Wright, Aceves - is Zach McCallister. He'll be in AA next year and will move quickly, much more quickly than Betances, who is as raw as hell.

McCallister has tons of polish.

oh, and let's not forget Brackman. A couple of scouts have actually said that he's got better raw stuff than Beckett or Joba. Really.

Top Ten Yankees Prospects (in no particular order):
1. Austin Jackson-OF...speed, hits, emerging power
2. Mark Melancon-RH relief pitcher extraordinaire
3. Manny Banuelos-LHP. short in stature, but throws hard, and has great "pitchability"
4. Wilkins DeLaRosa-LHP. converted OF, has only been pitching for 18months, but is ++
5. Dellin Betances-RHP. 6'9. Overpowering fastball. Learning quickly.
6. Jesus Montero-monstrous homerun power from the right side. C? 1B? Who cares?
7. Brad Suttle-3B. Does everything well. Mature bat for an A-player.
8. Gerald Laird.-probably a future 1B. Really good RH power.
9. Abe Almonte-think Tim Raines-type of potential.
10.Kevin Romine-a future ML catcher.

And then there's still Gardner, and Hughes, and Kennedy, and Cervelli, and Coke, and Wright, and others of greater or lesser quality. These guys are at varied stages in their development and range in age from 17 (Banuelos) to 24 (Gardner). But, if they stay healthy, and continue to develop (always an "if"), they all have legit ML potential. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!!!!

Chris Britton will be used as the "DBP" (Designated Blowout Pitcher) until Kennedy/Hughes or another starter is recalled.

Tough news about Joba. I don't even think the vaunted Yankee late season magic can overcome this blow.

The Rays have a tough stretch starting in September. Then we'll see what they're made of....
