I said this earlier:
"Jets have offered GB a 4th rd pick that can escalate to a 2nd rd pick according to ESPN. This could be amazing for the Jets (I’m a Jets fan btw), we could get Favre and get a Top-10 pick too :P"

Without Favre, the Jets would likely finish 5-11 or 6-10 (best case imo). Now with Favre, a 9-7 or even a 10-6 record isn't out of the question. We might be able to make the playoffs with Favre.

Come on? Seriously? Its bad for business- you dont improve your competition and give up an asset that can bring you a draft pick.

Moshe,

Yes, I would release him if I weren't going to play him. Especially if I believed that the team we would field could take on all comers.

Mel, they tried to trade him, he said he only wanted to go to the Vikings. Would you release Jeter at the end of his career if he said he wanted to go to Boston.

"This now puts the team in a strange situation. Suppose they suddenly win 5 of their next 7? Do they push Wang and Joba?"

In my opinion, they go as planned, have him start throwing in a week, go to Dr. Andrews, and if he says Joba is good to go, then he's good to go. I don't agree with people who say sit him down the whole season. The injury sounds very minor, especially from David Cones description and he seemed to indicate Joba should have no trouble pitching in a few weeks from now. So if Dr. Andrews sees no problem with him pitching then, then it would be silly to shut him down. What happens if he gets a little injury next season? You DL him then shut him down? Eventually you have to start treating him like a semi-normal player.

You guys are right. Favre deserves a lot of hate. BUT, why not trade him or release him in the first place? The man reserves the right to play football if he wants. There's no law preventing him from doing so.

And through the good and the bad, Favre hasn't built up any equity over the years? If Steinbrenner owned the Packers, Favre would be wearing the red jersey and you'd pick up right where you left off.

Good luck to Aaron, but it won't be as easy as Favre made it look.

Favre deserves some hateraid too mel. He's not Mr. Innocent in all of this. There is a lot of blame to go around for all that went down.

Anywho, have fun Jet fans.

Yeah, mel. I'm a Packers fan, and you would expect most of us to be upset at Packers ownership for discarding an icon who has been our franchise. Yet I think most of us (most that I know for sure) agree with the Packers on this one. Favre was not mistreated- he played the same waffling thing every offseason, then retired coming off a great season with a team that couldve contended for a Super Bowl in 2008. He said that did not think he would be able to go through a full season, that he didnt trust himself to get to Week 17 without at one point saying"I cant do this anymore." That is not the kind of guy who you just take back, someone who said he was not sure if he would remain motivated all year. They planned for 2008 without him, and they believe in Rodgers, as do I. As long as Rodgers manages the game, this will be a very good team, quick young improving defense, strong running game and receiving core. The Packers were left in the lurch by Favre, planned without him, so they traded him. Makes sense to me. It will be devastating to see him wearing another uniform, but it just made the most sense.
