A-Rod had better start emphasizing "I" instead of "we". '07 is a distant memory ............... the highest-paid player in the game has reverted to being unreliable in the clutch, and for a team whose current lineup features a badly-underperforming Jeter and no Matsui and Posada, that spells doom.

I do not have any insider knowledge.
I am not a doctor.
I do not even play one on TV
I am as big a Joba fan as there is.

I do not believe for one minute that Joba's going to pitch again this season.

Players do not fly from NY to Atlanta to see Dr. James Andrews for a sprain, pull or anything mild. Dr. Hershon is capable of determining those things.

They go because something is really hurt. And that hurt thing requires surgery.

I hope to god that I am wrong. We need that kid to stay healthy - not just for this year but for the next 15-20 years.

But the tight lips and trip to see the shoulder surgeon do not portend good news.

Jeter has a stoic personality on camera and also speaks as a 'company man', trying not to say anything that will reflect badly on the team or any player. That may be a form of integrity but it makes for a boring interview, and after a few years most journos realized that nothing they could say or do would make Jeter come through with a revelation on camera.

Journos go for the blabbermouths. That means they usually bypass the Captain -- except when the chatterboxes run for the back door and DJ is the only well-known player sticking by his locker.

Well....even if the Yankees dont make the playoffs, we still have something to look forward to: A team revamping in the offseason, and the new yankee stadium :)

Can't win every year people. We have the same team from last year for the most part, even worse actually due to injuries, you need to be realistic about the chances here. Look on the bright side, there's a chance Boston wont make the playoffs either. Minnesota & ChiSox could ruin both teams.

"Bringing back to my main point, how does this prevent Rodriguez from receiving some jabs?"

He doesn't receive jabs from the fans. He gets left and right hooks followed by a devastating uppercut.

Jorge Bonilla...because he is heading to the nice weather out west after this season?

He is building a house in socal, which leads me to believe he is going to sign with the angels or dodgers

Dan, where have you been for the last 4 and a half years? Rodriguez has taken more than his share of hits, every year...including last year. Regardless of what Rodriguez does, it's never enough to please fans like you. Jeter gets a free pass because "he's got the rings". Guess what? Jeter didn't do it on his own. He had a ton of help. Offense in front and behind. Defense. A starting rotation that stayed healthy and together. A bullpen that was one of the best in history. Since those factors disappeared, how many rings has Jeter and his intangibles won? There hasn't been a real rotation since Pettitte, Clemens and Wells left after the 2003 season. The bullpen until this year never went past two deep. The rest were worn out retreads. Put Rodriguez on the mid to late 90's and early 2000s teams in place of Jeter and the Yanks win just as many or more.

"How about “shame on Jeter”, whose paltry 21 million a year puts him on poverty row? Does he get a pass for being a “true Yankee”? Does the equally poverty stricken Giambi get a pass for “telling the truth in court”? (after getting caught, of course.)"

I don't understand how this abjects other players from criticism. I understand that Jeter gets a pass often and it's unfair. Giambi shouldn't he cheated and I think he took his round of hatred, I do remember quite well after the confession and a round of poor play how a good portion of fans wanted him to be put on waivers. He refused a minor league assignment, and was destroyed by fans for caring more about himself than the team because his horrid play was killing the team. Then he rebounded and all was forgotten...

Steve it's not that Alex could care less about the team...

He cares too much. Baseball is a game where, the more effort you put into, you fail more. The harder a swing you take, the worse off you are. That's what he's doing. Not because he doesn't care. He's trying desperately to be the hero instead of letting his natural talent letting the heroics come to him like they really should.
