Since you chose to call out people, why was #13 your first choice instead of #42, who has been a lifelong Yankee and had been around Bobby for almost 15 years? #13 has less tenure with the team than a few other players as well. Calling only him out says to me that trashing him was more important to you than the issue of honoring Bobby. Sad.

I think whether a person goes to a funeral for someone they didn’t know personally is a personal choice, and they shouldn’t be criticized or judged either way.

Jumping on the case of any player (or players) for not going to Bobby Murcer’s funeral service is totally ridiculous. Whoever wants to make a big deal of it on the blog shouldn’t be using Bobby Murcer as an excuse to tear a new one into the backside of a player they’re frustrated with for other reasons.

gotta disagree there. hughes has thrown about 10 innings so far (after a throwing program to rebuild arm strengh). he’ll likely throw 6 or 7 next outing.

in spring training this year the healthies ones (ironically hughes, kennedy and wang) threw between 16 and 23 innings to get ready for the season. so if phil goes 6 next time, he’s had the equivalent of an entire ST, after the throwing program.

he might be a little rusty his fist time or two, but he should have that behind him and be ready to go by sept 1st.
