Lester turning into a front line pitcher is the reason why we won't catch Boston. Hughes didn't deliver.

"Or maybe those 20 or so games he missed will be the reason his overall number are down. Stop the inasanity."

one word i've come to hate on this blog is "rational".

the reason is that when a competition is going on so may things happen so fast, some things either just work or don't work.

there's no reason sometimes that's apparent. for instance the team was on a roll after the break. nady and marte seemed like god pick ups. but when pudge rodriguez was added and farnsworth removed something happened to the team.

maybe it was a coincidence, maybe not. the point is when that change was made, the team went bad. if it could be reversed, great, but you can't do that in this situation. so another change or more needs to be made to get the mojo back.

if something doesn't work change it asap. there needs to be a bias towards action in the heat of battle and not a bias to understand why something works. that's for later. when the crap is flying just get the job done.

right now girardi needs to figure out what works and beat it to death. the team can be blown up later.

Blame the manager is a really idiotic reason for the Yankees poor performance.

An easy statement to make, hard to prove. The sort of knee jerk reaction that might be expected from fans used to constant gratification, sort of like spoiled royyen children

“Considering that A-rod will likely wind up with his worst production numbers of his career this year, its safe to say hes spending too much time with the material girl.”

"Or his pending divorce is affecting him more than we thought it would."

Or maybe those 20 or so games he missed will be the reason his overall number are down. Stop the inasanity.

Arod
Career OPS .969

wow, another injury. i guess that means the Yanks' idiot half-owner can feel free to just cancel all 41 games so everyone is fresh for next year.

I found Hank Steinbrenner's comments yesterday very interesting.

He something about the fact that the Yankees would sign a front line veteran pitcher in the off season if they needed to in order to be very competitive next year.

I think that is Steinbrenner's way of saying that the Yankees will go all out to sign CC Sabathia after this season. It will be interesting if the Sox and other teams get involved in the bidding process.

If Hughes gets his act together for next year you guys would have a formidable starting rotation that could include Hughes, CC, Joba, Wang and who knows about Moose and Pettite.

Something tells me Lester will manage a big lead over Texas better than Chuckles Zink and his bullpen buddies did.

This year has been like the several past years, with the SMALL exception of not having Joe Torre on our staff, as our manager.

Fredo I am talking more than just a national leagu style I am talking basic fundamental baseball. Sacrificing, taking the extra base when available.

If we have to wait to hit a 3 run HR each and every time out this is the type of results we should expect to see over the next few years.

I also agree that a manager should tailor to the team he has but again we talk about creating runs and not waiting for the blast we dont even have the type of players right now that can do that on a consitent basis.
