Why doesn't everyone BACK OFF Jeter . Do you think he's the reason why we aren't making the playoffs ?? Sure he isn't having a great season . .but he's hardly the person to starting pointing fingers at ! .

I wish half the team had the heart and desire Jeter plays with everyday ! .

The bottom line why we aren't making the plaoffs -
1- Our Pitching Sucks
2- Timely Hitting . .We don't have big time clutch players
3- Lack of Fundementals !

"Play-off post that’s a joke right?"

i have no clue what you're talkin about. i just suggested taking this conversation over to the new post this morning to continue over there, which happens to be titled after the yankees playoff chances for this year.

I know everyone wants a 100mill payroll and no stars on the Yanks team and contend for the WS, that's a pipe dream. They will also shed payroll next year Damon, Hideki...They will try to sign both CC and probably go hard after Tex..whether they get Tex or not is another story...but CC and siging no star for run production would be a horrible off-season, we cannot really just hope Posada and Hideki will fill the void from FA leaving's and youth...The position player's in the minor's will not be ready until 2010/2011...That will not sell seats......Love Joba but 140innings next year is the MAX.. Hughes is still un-proven...CC will get hit in the AL East and so will anyone else of the FA Ace's out there. You will need a potent offense to compete.

Cashman's only mistake with hindsight being 50-50 is not trading melky, hughes and kennedy for santana. The yankees cant play playoff baseball with betemint, cano and melky being unable to move runners, steal bases, make defensive plays and not being patient. Betemint is a scrub, melky a total bust this year and Cano the most disappointing at all at the plate, in the field and on the basis. is this guy really up to the tradition of being on a big stage in NY. I am sorry but he does none of the little things right and plate discipline is almost as bad as Cabrera. Wait til next year.

"Forget Manny. The Yankees are not going to add yet another DH in outfielders’ clothing. They have 2 already. Damon will back next year. Matsui will be back next year. Nady will be back. Someone will play center (not Damon). That’s it. Further, Ramirez doesn’t want any part of NYC. What he disliked most about Boston was the fishbowl existence. It’s even worse in NYC. Plus, Cashman’s not giving him that contract."

exactly.

"Don’t think the rivalry isn’t still alive..Manny has proven himself over and over again. Tex is the kind off 1b we need"

Cashman seems to be shying away from those high-priced signings though, thats another reason why i dont think we'll get TEX.

"No one wants Tex, Manny, Milton..who is going to provide us with some offense, please do tell…"

well who wouldve thought with the lineup they currently have, they'd be struggling so mightily to score runs now?

and look at the pittsburgh lineup, or twins lineup, to start the season. did you think they would have as many, or more, runs than the yankees at this point in the season?

you score runs not because of the stars in the lineup, but because of consistent production and timely hitting.

and you win games when your pitchers give up less runs than you can score.
