We got to get rid of Abreau, Cano, Caberra. They are the biggest bunch of non gamers in the league and they are all friends who seem to poision rally's and fundamental baseball.

Dump them or trade them

Add CC, Either Matt Kemp or Nate McLouth, or possibly Tex.

Torre had a healthy roster his 1st yr. also guys in thier prime so don't even compare it. And if Torre had been here this season he would have over stayed his welcome because there is no chance in hell the SP/MRP would be our strength under him.

Did you know that the 1969 Mets were 9 1/2 games out of first place on today’s date?

                           **********

Different team with 25 different players playing in a different era. None of it applies to this Yankee team and it's mindset.

Joe for manager of the year.

Uh...not so fast Girardi.

It's Maddon of Tampa Bay who gets this award.

Tampa lost Pena for several weeks earlier in the year and now will be without Longoria till early Sep and Crawford is gone for the year.

But Tampa instead of folding just continues to win series and maintain their lead on Boston while lengthening their lead on the Yankees.

Maddon has instilled a winning attitude on a team that had been a perennial doormat. And when a player on their team dogs it in the field. They sit and a lesson is learned. re: Upton last week.

And their front office comes in for some praise as well as they have assembled a team that has bench players who can multi-task by playing multiple positions. Re: Aybar played 1st while Pena was out and is now playing 3rd while Longo is out. Not to mention Zoborist(sp?) filling in at SS while Bartlett has been injured as well as playing the outfield where needed.

And again Maddon makes it all work by skillfully getting everyone playing time that keeps them reasonably sharp.

It will be interesting to see how far the Yankees will go to change the culture of the club for next year. For the kind of money they spend the bench absolutely has to get better and the everyday lineup has to perform better with RISP.

Anyone think Pavano will agree to a 1-year contract for the league minimum (or close to it) next year with the Yankees as retribution for stealing their $40 mil?

Look at it this way - You have to play the games anyway, so you might as well win. And if you lose, well, so what - nobody expects you to come back (82%, right, Pete?).

"But when determining the type of the Free-agent they take into account the last few years. Moose was terrible last year"

It's the last TWO seasons that are taken into account. I wouldn't bet on him being an "A". Not sure though. Yankees would have to offer him arbitration, which I believe he would accept, rendering the point moot.

Also - The Metzies also had 50 more games to play at this point in the season back in ‘69.

And the Yankees have how many? 41? Ah, the days of doubleheaders!!
