Nick August 26th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
This team died the day A-Rod came back after opting out.
We were thru with the guy and we take him back?

um....a-rod was "thru" with us, then we got down on our hands and knees, went back on all the things we said for two weeks, and backed up the truck for him and boras. just trying to make sure we all remember correctly.

autograph seeker...

clutch may not be measured... many may not think it exists...

but as a sports fan, and i'm sure many of us played in college/high school... we know it does exist

some people are gamers... those same people seem to come through more often than not "in the clutch"... it exists because i see it in some players and not in others

i'd rather have jeter in the box when we need a hit than arod... stats may say i'm wrong, but even in jeter's "down" year, i'd take him over arod

Pat, cool.

"arod is not clutch, that is known to me, and i’m not blaming him because he is what he is."

That's how I feel about Arod too. He is talented and he works hard, but he just doesn't have enough heart or he's missing something else that makes a good player a true champion. He may be an MVP, but he's not a champion, at least not yet not anything I've seen.

I'm far from a fan of Arod, but I don't blame him. I blame Hank for signing him for a decade. I hope Arod somehow manages to find his heart or his "it" or a better shrink or whatever it is that he needs soon. Because nine more years is a really long time and the worst thing than a divorce is growing old together and hating each other.

interested to see if/how mgmt over-reacts in off-season acquisitions... both CC and Tex will be extremely expensive.

CC
Wang
Joba
Moose
Phil

looks like a contender. if CC's the answer for SP, what's the answer for the bats? posada & matsui will defintely help. i'm also very impressed w/ nady. maybe a youngster will step up and replace giambi. marte has a cheap club option (considering the market)... there's always next year..

BTW, want a good laugh. Kenny Rogers-- remember him?, no not the singer-songwriter of The Gambler-- the other one. Kenny, I puked before Yankees playoff games, Rogers. That one.

He had this to say recently to the AP."

"Kenny Rogers thinks the New York Yankees caused Major League Baseball to start allowing umpires to consult instant replay on home run calls.

One of the most replayed blown calls of the year came May 21, when the Yankees' Alex Rodriguez lost a home run on a blown call -- the ball went over the fence but the umpire thought it didn't and A-Rod was given a double.

"I don't like it," Rogers said after MLB announced Tuesday that instant replay will start being used this week. "I think that it overshot the mark by far just because, what, in a Yankee game someone didn't get a homer? Please. It's happened thousands of times. That's part of the game. It's the beauty of the game. Mistakes are made."

Don't you wish the Yankees were this powerful? How different is Kenny Roger's stupidity from the jihadis insistence that the U.S. is to blame for every tyranny and injustice abroad?

also, jeter2007, there essentially is no such as thing as "clutch" so I don't blame A-Rod for not being something that no one really is.
