girardi can't start throwing players under the bus now,it will destroy his team next year.forget how much the players make and all that for now.the yankees are a few moves away from being a great team in 2009.get rid of the problems, giambi, pettitte, abraeu, damon, matsui, pudge, ponson, rasner, mussina and rebuild.i would bring pettitte, moose, abraeu back but only for one year and not for 16 m illion a year.no matter wich way you look at it the hitters can't keep covering for an absolutely terrible pitching staff.every game i watch they never start with a lead and they had no replacements for wang and joba.they need to lower payroll to 180 million or less.damon in left in 2009 isn't the end of the world but in center field is a problem, melky in center all year was a huge problem, cano's offense was a problem, inconsistent bullpen and the biggest problem is the starting pitching.the yankees need a true ace, move wang to the 2 spot, maybe get a solid three or joba for the three spot, see if pettitte and mussina will take a one year pay cut for the 4th and 5th spot.stop putting a number 2 pitcher like wang in the ace spot.get sabathia and maybe another good pitcher depending on what is available and the rotation can be sabathia,wang,joba,mussina,pettitte/hughes/?????? the yankees pitching alignment does not mach up well with any team in baseball.a 209 million dollar payroll has to buy at least three frontline starters going 1,2,3 and a decent 4th and 5th that give you a chance to win every night, the yankees don't have that and if wang and joba were there they are much better because wang, joba, mussina is pretty darn good.ponson and rasner as the 4th and 5th won't get it done and puts all the pressure in the world on 1-3.the offense had a bad year and needed the pitching to carry them as scarry as that sounds.the rays are in first because their pitching is number one in the american league and remained intact all year.they had injuries but not in the pitching staff for the most part.you really wan't to build a great team, damon in left, get a center fielder, abraeu or nady in right, arod, jeter, cano, get a first baseman,dh posada and matsui, catch posada 2 days a week or get another catcher and dh posada full time, sign sabathia, sheets and the rotation will be sabathia,wang,sheets,joba,mussina/hughes/??

"Sign CC Sabathia for whatever it takes. Imagine a CC, Wang, Joba, Mussina, Hughes rotation if they’re all at their best."

Hughes is not a good choice.
The rotation should be "THE BEST" pitchers.
Hughes is always injury and be overrate.
He is a good pitcher, but not the best.
Yankees has a lot of momey, but never pay it on the right place.
Cashman is short of insight and couldn't help Yankees.
Cashman always waste a great quantity of money, but could gain the best players.
It's a time to think about "BIG" rebuild for next year.
First of all,Yankees should fire Cashman and change the organization.
By the way,Mussina is the best this year,
but he is old and nobody can get konw he will be good next year, too.
Joba still couldn't finish himself first whole season so far.

The 2009 ratation can be fine is just CC and Wang.

I was at the game last night and tonight. I was also at the game in Baltimore on Friday night.

Whats really odd is that down in Baltimore, there were more Yanks fans and they seemed to be really into it.

Last night was like going to a wake. Tonight was like a funeral. I know the fans didnt have a lot to cheer about, but from the get go it just seemed like all us Yank fans were as tense as A-Rod with the bases loaded in the 9th trailing 3-2.

All told, I drove about 700 miles
Paid 220 for a hotel room in Baltimore
Paid about 600 in tickets and another 400 spending money.

Boy, i am really miserable right now

Trader - it had to be tonight. If you listen to one of the questions he was asked, it was something to the effect of "do you think they're done?" Hank wouldn't have been asked that question in July since it wouldn't have made sense then.

Trisha-
Was that Hanks comments from tonight, because I know he hasn't been coming to many games, or is that a replay of a comment he made before the All Star game which applies to about every game the Yankees have played since their 8 game winning streak?

AL from BK
What do we do with Manny-DH with Damon, Matsui, and possibly Posada, or do we trade Matsui and Damon. I'd like our defense to be better and don't want to see Manny in left field. You advocate him to play a position. And isn't he 37 with Boras and looking for 75M 3 year contract?

When you look at who is "protecting" A-Rod, and the lack of production from so much of the line up, it isn't hard to figure out why A-Rod isn't doing all that well this year.

A-Rod is pressing because he is trying to carry the team. This year it just isn't working.

I still question Long's ability as Hitting Coach. Last year the effects of the previous coach were still being seen. This year Long's methods have had a chance to sink in. How does it look?

Yes, its on the batters, but if they are taught wrong won't that also show up in the results?
