the yankees pitching alignment does not mach up well with any team in baseball.a 209 million dollar payroll has to buy at least three frontline starters going 1,2,3 and a decent 4th and 5th that give you a chance to win every night,the yankees don't have that and if wang and joba were there they are much better because wang,joba,mussina is pretty darn good.ponson and rasner as the 4th and 5th won't get it done and puts all the pressure in the world on 1-3.the offense had a bad year and needed the pitching to carry them as scarry as that sounds.the rays are in first because their pitching is number one in the american league and remained intact all year.they had injuries but not in the pitching staff for the most part.you really wan't to build a great team,damon in left,get a center fielder,abraeu or nady in right,arod,jeter,cano,get a first baseman,dh posada and matsui,catch posada 2 days a week or get another catcher and dh posada full time,sign sabathia,sheets and the rotation will be sabathia,wang,sheets,joba,mussina/hughes/?? I was also at the game in Baltimore on Friday night. Whats really odd is that down in Baltimore, there were more Yanks fans and they seemed to be really into it. Last night was like going to a wake. All told, I drove about 700 miles Paid 220 for a hotel room in Baltimore Paid about 600 in tickets and another 400 spending money.
