What’s with you guys who keep claiming Boston is a racist sports town. What is it based on? Tom Yawkey is dead. Has been for quite some time. Does it make you feel better about the Yanks chances of signing CC?
This country needs to get over BS like that. Guys like you perpetuating decades-old issues don’t help. Give it up.

i have a very hard time believing sf will give a pitcher 5-7 years at 20 million plus a year after zito when they need a lot of bats and have zito,cain,lincecum and more.if the yankees can’t get him and or sheets they could be in some trouble because there isn’t much out there and that might put a lot of pressure on them to bring pettitte and mussina back.

Wow. So basically, in 2008, it’s Mussina 17 (plus one for the astute observation on Hughes & IPK) and Kay 0? Hah, no complaints from me there! I consider it irresponsible journalism to allow an off-air argument with a pitcher to effect a broadcaster’s commentary on that pitcher, so I’m afraid I will have to enjoy every last bit of crow that Kay is forced to eat regarding the Moose!

Right on re: the 6:30 post, G. Love. When CC was with Cleveland he always said how proud he was to play for the first team to break the color barrier in the AL (Larry Doby, the pride of Paterson). I know a lot of players like to spew platitudes, but I believe CC really meant it. Boston is the complete antithesis of that both historically and today. I would be completely and utterly shocked if he went there.

I also think SF has the edge in signing him. He’s a Bay Area guy who knows Oakland won’t pay him, so across the bridge is the best case scenario. I don’t see him going to the Dodgers though, I think they can only afford him or Manny and will opt for Manny. So we would maybe be his 2nd choice after SF. Thank goodness that picture of him in a Yankee cap is floating around the interwebs to keep our hopes up all winter, at least!

Not to worry – I talk a great game, but I hate not being in control.

I think we all know the bigger name players, but who might be available to the Yankees for, say, 1B? There must also be some AAA players somewhere who are just about ready, but being block at the ML level. Is it worth it to take a chance on a CF or 1B that would fit that description? Will the Yankees be giving serious consideration to more all-around players (4-tool, at least, since 5-tool are so rare) and not just mashers?

Also, the Yankees need to get some position players for their minor league system. If not the draft, and if not Latin America or internationally, can they mine the systems of other teams?

Jesus….trading Cano for Kemp makes little sense. There are no 2nd basemen in the system ready and none available, unless you think Orlando Hudson is worth a multi-year contract for 13-15 mil a year at age 32. That’s what he’s asking from Arizona. That was before season ending surgery.
