Much as I want to keep faith, we just dont have the players. So lets take a look toward next season.

2009 New York Yankees
-A monumental year for the Yanks. New stadium after missing the playoffs in '08 for the first time in 13 years. This is a new era we need a fresh start.

Front Office: Brian Cashman's contract is up this season. He has been with us for about 9, 10 years and although we have never won it all with him as gm. I would be reluctant to let him go, he knows the organization too well, and has a plan in place. These ridiculous contracts were more from the steinnbrenners than Cashman, even though he has made some bad moves.
-Re-sign Cashman 2-3 years

Coaching Staff: Long and Meachem got to go. They are Yes men and have not contributed to us in a positive way. Lack experience.
-Hire 2 MLB experienced coaches who have some fire.

Player Personnel:

-Buy out Giambi (Fred Flinstone), Let Abreu walk, Let Pavano walk, Let Moose walk, decline arb on Pudge let him walk, Marte arb, Nady arb.
-Depending on Arbitration and free agent signings we will have 3-8 picks in the first, compensation, and 2nd round.
-2009 Draft- Focus should be on corner IF/OF positions and power arms (as usual)

-Trades- Wilson Betemit and Matsui to the SF Giants for Simon Klink 3B S,R and Alexander Hinshaw RP L,L 6-4... We give up a good hitter in Hideki but we free up some room for our young guys. We can not afford to be a team full of DH’s anymore.

-Free Agent Signings- Re-Sign Andy Pettitte 1 yr. deal (Veteran leadership. Well respected Yankee). Sign C.C. Sabathia 6 yr. deal (A bonafide ace, gives us much needed stability in the rotation) Sign Adam Dunn 4 yr. deal (A lefty power threat we’ve been lacking, underrated defender) Sign Casey Blake 2 yr. deal (Great defender, can play 1B,3B,LF,RF, solid contact hitter, great chemistry guy) Sign Cesar Izturis 1 yr. deal (Great defender up the middle)

Rotation

CC
Wang
Pettitte
Joba
5. Hughes

Pen

LRP-Aceves
MRP-Ramirez
MRP- Robertson
MRP-Coke
MRP- Bruney
SU-Veras
SU-Melancon
CP-MO

Lineup

Damon DH (L)
Jeter SS (R)
Cano 2B (L)
A-rod 3B (R)
Dunn 1B (L)
Nady RF (R)
Posada C (S)
Cabrera CF (S)
Gardner LF (L)

Bench- Blake, Molina, Izturis Miranda

Impact Prospects- Jackson CF, McAllister SP, Cervelli C, Sanchez RP, Corona SS/2B, Pena SS/2B, Betances SP, Montero C, Romine C, Vehionacci 3B, Brackman P, Nova SP, Heredia SP, De La Rosa SP,

Brandon, there was never anything minor about Anna Kournakova. She was major all the way. She may never have one anything, but, women's tennis and women's sports owes her a big thank you for bringing in big money advertisers...much like Laura Baugh and Jan Stephenson did for women's golf in the '70s.

The NY Giants are going to have to make a tough decision

The WR depth

Steve Smith
Amani Toomer
Plaxico Burress
Sinorice Moss
Mario Manningham
Brandon London
Dominek Hixon
Marcus Monk (he’ll be on the practice squad and will be the Dominek Hixon pick all over again show up somewhere in the middle of the season)

The RB Depth

Brandon “The Bid Daddy” Jacobs
Ahmad “Send me to prison” Bradshaw
Derrick “Remember me ?” Ward
Danny Ware

What to do :?

Say bye to London(I can't see them getting rid of Moss yet) and I think they will say bye to Droughns and keep Ware

Lots of masochists here. But we knew that. Why would we keep following this maddening team?

Did Pete give us the pitching matchups? Or are they still up in the air?

Mel, very seldom do I watch tennis. I quit when the instant replays stopped looking up Anna Kournakova's skirts.

Seriously, though, instant replay in tennis is fine and works well because the playing surface is so small and the umpires' field of focus is so narrow. Sensors and cameras can catch those small areas. In baseball, on the bases, sensors don't work because you have multiple feet plus the baseball all arriving together. The strikezone is the same thing, the hitter, the ball, the catcher and the bat would all set off the sensors, unless you start putting specialized team chip in so the sensors could tell what was what and by whom.
