the yankees should let all the free agents walk.whoever accepts arbitration, trade them.
the problem the yankees might have is that there are no good young free agents available because they are all locked up so it will take a few trades to bring in young players.
except for their pitching, cano, nady they are an old team and need to get younger.
package hughes, kennedy, melky, cano, nady and some minor leaguers for a good young center fielder, first baseman and pitcher.
damon and matsui should also be considered in a package.
what good would it do to trade anybody or everybody for older players and be in the same position.
the yankees risk sitting on all these players and minor leaguers when they could be bringing in the right pieces.

they made a mistake in giving up karsens, olendorf, tabata and 2 other pitchers for nady and marte, huge mistake.they have to use guys like that for young studs, first base, center field, pitchers, instead it created more of a log jam.

While I am a big fan of Andy Pettite, I think we must part ways. This season hasn't been worth the 16 Million. I would re-sign Messina.
I would offer Pavano a one year deal with incentives.
I would not pursue A.J. Burnett as we are the only team he can beat.
Yankees should be active in the bidding for CC and Texija but only to drive up the cost for the teams that ultimately sign them- the dodgers and Baltimore.

I think we must consider leaving first base open for Posada. He would play a competent first base and is a switch hitter with some power. Ramon Hernandez of Baltimore might be a stop gap #1 catcher until our kids develop.

I would not restore Melky to the team for September. Let him think long and hard about Spring training. Hope he enjoyed Scranton.
Next years outfield, if we lose Abreu to FA, would be Damon, Gardener and Nady w/ melky and Christian in reserve.

We are not drafting enough quality position players. A number one priority ought to be a new shortstop and a new catcher baseball defense needs to be strong up the middle. Assuming Austin Jackson will be here in two years and Cano will rebound, we need a shortstop and a catcher

Pudge can go. Giambi should go. I would keep Ransom and drop Betamint

Some of you must have realized by now that Nady will be 31 when he becomes a FA right? Please do not sign anymore aging players to long term deals. Trade him now!

I think they're trying to protect Melky from arbitration. He's real close to being "super two" status so I think they want to squeeze one more year out of him at near minimum salary. Not that he'd make all that much in arbitration...

I guess PEDitte can't blame Pudge anymore for his subpar performances.

6 ERA post All-star game.
