Chris September 3rd, 2008 at 4:51 pm
The Sox won this game because they kept chipping away, not by trying to hit a HR at every AB. Short fat bald guy (aka Pedroia) hit a HR, then Crisp had a bases-loaded walk, Kotsay knocked in two runs, and then a couple of bunts give them the game.
Anyway, hoping for a win tonight so we don’t fall back in the standings.

The Sox are a decent team, but really, these "comeback" wins of theirs nearly always occur in their crackerjax box of a stadium. Why do you think we monster the ball there, too? The place forgives all sins, especially when you bat last.

Another factor of Boston's success is an outfield that forgives all pitching sins. Ellsbury isn't much of a hitting talent, but he can go and get the ball. How many leaping, diving catches has their revamped outfield made to rescue mediocre pitching? And their pitching is not lockdown. Fenway is the great equalizer for the Red Sox. On the road, they generally are a below average team.

For someone just coming back, and early, from Tommy John surgery, I really don't think there is much to complain about with what Pavano did so far.

I know he is no favorite of the Yankee fans, but he is working it as best he can. Coming back this soon is pretty good. While it may be simply motivated by getting his next paycheck, so what. At least the Yankees are getting something out of him now, rather than absolutely nothing.

Coke is going to be a fan favorite just given his demeanor. He seems like a kid, but has done well on the mound. I look forward to seeing more of him.

Thanks Yankee Trader! Doesn't it really stink that we are helping the Sux by beating Tampa? Hey tomorrow night I get to watch Alfred E. Neuman in person. And my seats are so close to the dugout and the field that I could highfive the guys when they walk in from the field (So I will get to see IPK up close and personal.

"I keep waiting for Coke to call Kim Jones “dude” during his interviews."

If there was ever a movie about the 08 Yanks. Sean Penn during his fast time at ridgemont high days would be perfect.

I say the Joba agenda next year is keep him in the pen til memorial day and then unleash the beast. However due to the injuries to Hughes and Joba this season it means the only starter definitely penned for next season is Wanger. This translates to "Hank get CC, now!".
