"Perhaps the spike in Pedroia’s seaso has to do with the players around him having career years or much better years than last? Could it be that hitting before or Ortiz and after Ellsbury be the reason"

Ellsbury, career year? Do you even watch baseball? If he was having even a decent year pedroia would have 20 more rbi.

Please, if you're ignorant don't open your mouth and prove it.

He needs to work the count in his favor more often....He hits in too many pitcher counts....Not a smart hitter, especially when compared to the great hitters just mentioned.....

Cano's never going to walk a lot, but, then, neither did Mattingly, Steve Garvey, Tony Gwynn, Tony Oliva and a ton of other big time hitters. He's going to hit...period.

SJ, did Cano get it in 2005-2007 and then decide that he didn't want to get it, this year? Does Jeter and Pettitte not get it this year? They're all having decidedly worse years than the year before? Perhaps the spike in Pedroia's seaso has to do with the players around him having career years or much better years than last? Could it be that hitting before or Ortiz and after Ellsbury be the reason, while Cano has spent the better part of the year being "protected" by Cabrera, Molina and Betemit?

Why are Yankees fans so quick to jump to conclusions. So many of us have already given up on hughes and kennedy. And now more than 50% of us have decided that Cano is a lazy bum. I guess the past 2 1/2 seasons dont count for anything? So this bad season totally erases the good of the past 3? I'll never understand that. I'm not saying that Cano will reach the potential that many of us thought/think he had. But i also dont see how someone could come to that conclusion, after one bad season, that he stinks. He wouldnt be the first player to rebound the next year.

Pat M,

Joe Pepitone? Joe Pepitone was one of my favorite players in '60's. He was "Robbie Alomar" smooth at first base lol. But you're right, the night life took it's toll on Joe.
