It's come to this? Enough with your kicking 'em when they're down. Yes, the yankees are finished. They never really had a shot this year anyway.
What it "came to" last night was not some form of embarrassment. First time starter, worst team in the league? So what. The kid looks like a pretty good pitcher to me. Also when the yankees were "good", they would always have problems with pitchers they had never seen before. Always. So having a hard time with an unknown quantity is nothing new and is not (necessarily) related to the current state of the team. Remember when KC combined on a no hitter against a "good" yankees team? I do, it wasn't that long ago. The royals stunk that year just like they do every year. Did anyone say it's come to this? No. It falls under the heading of s$#@ happens, whether you're good or not.

Thats too bad. But, I agree he should have called it a day at the end of last year. He's also getting up there in age. Isn't he 42,43? & Mussina was pretty bad last year. & I dont know what happened with Glavin. They're not what they used to be. & if Maddux retires,... this probably isn't the season he envisioned retiring on, with him playing so poorly. Players always want to go out on top.

Here are Maddux' stats. They're not bad on the surface, but, when looking at the division he pitches in and the pitchers parks, they aren't that great.

JME, Maddux seems to be limited to about 70-75 pitches a game. He'll pitch with a lead and end up with the pen blowing it, but, he gives up lot of hits that he didn't used to. He's like Mussina was last year, only worse. I really think he probably should have called it a day at the end of last year. It hurts to see it, and the same with Glavin. They get in trouble and they can't seem to stop it. Before, they had just enough stuff to invent. It's not there, anymore.

seriously, though. tomorrow is a must, must, MUST win. do or double-die. taking it one game at a time was thinking too big-picture. they've got to scale back. one inning at a time.

Yeah, Maddux wasn't that great in his 1st season either. Speaking of Maddux. What are his stats so far? I've heard he has been struggling. I haven't been following him too closely like I used to.

Mel, I thought maybe the petty jealousies and the infantile behavior would change after they won in 2004 and certainly after last year, but, they're worse. Most of them have such an inferiority complex about anything NY...whether it's the teams, the people or the city. I'm embarrassed for them.

Aren't they cute, guys?

Pulling on our shirt tails like snotty nose street urchins, looking for attention because they have nothing better to do on a Friday night.
