Yankees invite 36 to Instructional League
-
- September
- 6
For those of you who love to follow the prospects – and we know you’re out there – you’ll appreciate this info.
The Yankees start Instructional League on Sept. 17. The first workout will be Sept. 18. They will play a six-game schedule:
Sept. 22: Phillies at Yankees, 1 p.m.
Sept. 24: Yankees at Pirates, 1 p.m.
Sept. 26: Rays at Yankees, 1 p.m.
Sept. 29: Yankees at Phillies, 1 p.m.
Oct. 1: Yankees at Pirates, 1 p.m.
Oct. 3: Pirates at Yankees, 10 a.m.
Here’s who was invited:
Pitchers: Manuel Banuelos, Dellin Betances, Jeremy Bleich, Noel Castillo, Wilkins de la Rosa, Christian Garcia, Brett Marshall, D.J. Mitchell, Jhonny Nunez, Mike O’Brien, Dave Phelps, Matt Richardson, Amauri Sanit, Nik Turley, Arodys Vizcaino.
Catchers: Franciso Cervelli, Kyle Higashioka, Jesus Montero, Austin Romine, Chase Weems.
Infielders: Dave Adams, Carmen Angelini, Mitchell Delaney, Corban Joseph, Brandon Laird, Garrison Lassiter, Eduardo Nunez, Jimmy Parades, Damon Sublett, Brad Suttle.
Outfielders: Abraham Almonte, Kelvin DeLeon, Eduardo Sosa, Taylor Grote, Francisco Santana, Chris Smith.
A few notes: Lots of notable 2008 draft picks in this crew. Bleich, Adams, Smith, Lassiter, Marshall, Mitchell, etc. … Sanit is the oldest player on the list. The 29-year-old is a Cuban defector who now resides in Costa Rica.

Speaking of Jeremy Bleich, Brett from the Bronx Block went to see his debut for Staten Island and posted a full report on his blog. There’s even video.

Peter Abraham

Pete,
There are rumblings that the Yankees are going after some other Cuban defectors. Cashman won’t admit anything just like that kid they signed a couple of weeks ago, but that doesn’t mean it’s not true.
the mystery signing is still in play?
I’m shocked and disappointed that Jason Snyder, Jonathan Ortiz and Pat Venditte weren’t invited.
Ok,
so after lasts night mess what is the thought process? Mine is this.
How can Girardi not be accountable? The team has completely underachieved. The starting pitching maybe did not underachieve, and the bullpen probably didnt. The offense, which was supposed to be the team strength was awful. The head guy, the guy in charge has to be accountable. While it may seem unfair thats the way baseball and most businesses run.
His job as mananger is not to hit or field for these guys but he needs to make sure all parts of the machine run properly and up to its potential.
Last night was a clear case of it looking like either he has lost them or they are just not interested.
how can you and the end of the season look at the names on that roster and see the final results?
Petitte made some pretty interesting statements in the post game show last night.
Many managers have been fired for the same thing, not getting the team to play to its abilities. It happened to Randolph this year and it worked, The Mets look like they should make it
what does venditte need instruction on – how to dominate players 4/5 years younger than him?
if amaury sanit is 29, does he have a use by date stamp on him
yanksince57-is this 1959 or is it 1965?

It’s too bad that you don’t know what you’re talking about. Try looking that the ages first.
I was always puzzled by the ages of minor leaguers. It seems to me that many of the Yankee AAA players are past the ealry to middle 20`s, wouldnt that mean that they are probably career minor leaguers and no longer “prospects”?
If so this becomes a problem when the parent club needs someone to move up, and is actually counting on them to be able to do something.
These players all seem to be able to be “just good enough” to perform well on a AAA level. It clouds the process
Ugh, there are only a few things I want to happen at this point, to close out the season. I would like for the Yankees to at least put up a decent homestand, and win the final game at the stadium. I want the Dodgers to miss the playoffs, and the Phillies to overtake the Mets again. After that I want the RedSox knocked out of the playoffs in the first round.
Is the Turley kid related to the former Yank “Fastball” Bob Turley?
Wilkins de la Rosa. Remember that name fellas.
I think that’s “Bullet” Bob Turley—I’m old enough to remember.
Real World could be right. De la Rosa has impressed this year.
De la Rosa, a lefty and a converted OF, is an intriguing case. Great numbers since being converted to a pitcher.

Good to see both Montero (the beast, .326-17-87 at Charleston at age 18) and Romine (.300-10-49 in his own right, age 19) going.
Angelini had a rough year. .236 and 42 errors. Laird led Charleston with 23 HR.

Sorry but they’re not going to fire Girardi after one year on the job. Especially since it’s the offense that’s the main reason why the Yankees are in the position they’re in. Jeter isn’t having a very Jeterian like year at all. A-Rod hasn’t hit with RISP. Giambi can’t hit with RISP. No Posada, Matsui is back now but is clearly not the Matsui we all know and love. Damon and Abreu are pretty much the only veterans who are having normal years.
All of those players are veterans who don’t need to be motivated by their manager. They’ve been through this enough times already and already know the process.
The biggest knock on Torre was how he didn’t know how to use a bullpen. Girardi has CLEARLY handled the bullpen far better than Torre handled it recently, although I will say that Girardi had far better bullpen talent to work with.
Anyway, Girardi will get at the very least one more year to manage.
With the disapointing year so many Yankee prospects had this year ( Hughes, Kennedy, Horne, Marquez, Sanchez, ect.) and less than stellar play by Melky and Cano, the Yanks have far fewer trading chips than they had a year ago.The opportunity to sell high has been missed by Cashman on a lot of players that grew interest last winter.
The Yanks do have over $80mil coming off the payroll next month. Here’s a list of potential free agents in their early 30’s that might draw interest (or might not), although some would require trading current players to fit them in.
Jeremy Affeldt, Carl Crawford,Rocco Baldelli,Milton Bradley,Pat Burrell, AJ Burnett,Alex Cora,Scott Downs,Juan Encarcion,Kyle Farsnworth (hehehe),John Garland,Vlad Guerrero,Orlando Hudson,Mark Kotsay,Craig Monroe,Oliver Perez,Brad Penney,CC Sabathia,Ben Sheets,Mark Texiera,Dan Wheeler and Kerry Wood.
I would love to see Crawford in center next year, even though he prefers left. If Baldelli is past his mystery illness, and can run like he used to, he would be a great fit as well.
Weaken the Rays and strengthen the Yanks
If the Yanks could find a trade fit for Johnny Damon (he’d have to waive his no trade clause), Crawford would give the Yankees something they sorely lack. They need to become quicker and more athletic.
The only thing with that is Crawford is not really a leadoff hitter.
Crawford also isn’t a free agent this year. The Rays have a team option on him which they will surely take advantage of.
I have to believe that LA will be shopping Gary Matthews, I do believe that Baldelli will be unrestricted, and Tampa is surely tired of BJ Upton’s ADD moments, although he and Cano on the same team would be maddenning. Also, don’t see him being traded within the division. Would there be a chance Texas would want to sell high on Hamilton? Just thinking out loud about some CF possibilities.
Rocco Baldelli is an interesting player and may be a low cost signing, IMO someone the Yankees should look into.
Also, he has one thing that Cash loves…taking chances on players with injuries.
Crawford does indeed have a team option. I missed that.
Vader,
“Also, he has one thing that Cash loves…taking chances on players with injuries.”
Aint that the truth. John Leiber is about the only one I can think of that panned out at all.
Where is this instructional league taking place, because I live in Stuart, Fla?
Plus, we will only sign two players: C.C. Sabathia and Manny Ramirez. The balance is trash.
Rocco and Farnsworth are possible options.
It would be a disgrace to sign Manny Ramirez. They had better not!
“I do believe that Baldelli will be unrestricted, and Tampa is surely tired of BJ Upton’s ADD moment”
I truly doubt that Tampa is tired of BJ Upton’s ADD moments. Considering that at the age of 23 he will probably walk 100 times this year and strike out far less than he did last year. Despite batting only 273 he has a .383 OBP. They aren’t trading a 23 year old with his potential and that kind of batting eye.
“Also, he has one thing that Cash loves…taking chances on players with injuries.”
Which MAJOR league players with injuries has Cashman taken a chance on?
Which MAJOR league players with injuries has Cashman taken a chance on?
Jaret Wright, Lieber and Octavio Dotel come to mind.
Upton has been benched several times this year for his lax play, and has been the source of a lot of discussion, conjecture, and anger here in Tampa. I agree that they would be crazy to give up on him, and it wouldn’t be in division anyway, so I guess we are wasting our time discussing. However, I wouldn’t be shocked to see him elsewhere, of course he won’t come cheap. Certainly, one of Crawford, Upton, or Baldelli won’t be back next year. It makes sense that Baldelli would be gone, but he is the best draw for the community, kind of Tampa’s “Great White Hope”. The Rays are entirely capable of making the wrong baseball decision for the sake of money.
When a $200M payroll team picks up a high ceiling player for @3-5M per year, is that really taking a gamble? It is more like hoping to strike gold with a guy you are not counting on anyway.(Lieber and Dotel) Wright was a waste, injuries or not.
“Jaret Wright, Lieber and Octavio Dotel come to mind.”
Jaret Wright wasn’t injured when he signed with the Yankees. In fact he pitched 186 innings the year before he signed to the Yankees. Leiber worked out well. Dotel didn’t work out. It’s not like Cashman is intentionally targeting injured major leaguers to sign.
“Certainly, one of Crawford, Upton, or Baldelli won’t be back next year.”
Baldelli is a free agent so he might not be back but there’s no reason why they can’t re-sign him. Crawford will most certainly be back as his option is very cheap, and I seriously doubt they’re trading Upton regardless of his mental laspses.
Which MAJOR league players with injuries has Cashman taken a chance on?
How can we ever forget Kevin Brown too?
Kevin Brown wasn’t injured when the Yankees traded for him. He had pitched 211 innings for the Dodgers the previous year. He had been hurt in the past but he also had pitched over 170IP’s 12 seasons in his career. He was old but he wasn’t injured.
Things to watch for the rest of the season:
1. Moose working his way towards 20.
2. Aceves showing us what he’s got (or not got).
3. The Red Sox tripping over their shoelaces in the stretch.
4. My childhood team the Dodgers, whom I first saw in the LA Coliseum before the historic LA neighborhood of Chavez Ravine was destroyed to build Dodger Stadium, chugging upwards.
Kevin Brown’s on George.
This team reminds me of those 80’s teams, backloaded with unathletic DH types, and two good starters at the top of the rotation, and three dregs at the bottom. I don’t include Joba, since he spent time in the pen, and injured. But that was the mistake back then, when they signed guys like Steve Kemp, and Jack Clark, or a dozen other guys. They need to get strong up the middle again, and sign a solid CF. If Jorge isn’t coming back right away next year, they need to trade one or two of those young (Over-rated?) arms in the minors for a solid catching prospect, who can play everyday, and eventually take over catching duties. If they can’t sign Sabathia, try and make a trade for somebody, see if you can spin Cano for Peavy. They should seriously consider trading Damon. He’s a great guy to have in the clubhouse, but he’s 35, and they most likely won’t keep him after next season, trade high. See Matsui for the same. With Nady, Matsui becomes a little more expendable. And don’t sign Abreu, that contact will not pan out in the end. He’s going to be 35. We need fresh legs in the OF.
Speaking of Kevin Brown, I was thinking about him yesterday when they were talking about Carlos Quentin of the White Sox.
Apparently has the habit of hitting the bat with his wrist after he strikes out or is frustrated with himself. Well, he hit the bat with his wrist a few days ago and ended up breaking a bone in his wrist. Ending his season, hurting the White Sox’ chances, and effectively ruling Quentin out of the MVP consideration.
Wasn’t it Kevin Brown who hit the locker with his hand and broke something?
If I was the owner of a team I could put up with a lot of things, but when these players who are paid millions stupidly do something to break a bone so then they can’t play…it would drive me crazy!
There should be stupidity clauses in the contracts!
Didn’t Jaret Wright fail he’s first physical?
There’s a difference between taking a chance on a player that is recovering from an injury and one who has had a series of medical ailments like Baldelli. He hasn’t proven that he can stay healthy. He’s either been injured or sick for three years. He he comes at no cost of talent and a low base salary with incentives, then, maybe, but only at one year plus a team option.
Another wants Giambi, Damon, Matsui and Abreu gone. Where exactly do you think the power is coming from, never mind the needed left handed bats? Love the insight. Truly a sight to behold to watch a great mind at work? I assume that all of the players that you don’t want on the team will bring in top of the line younger, cheaper players, huh?
You’re close Ray, about Brown. He broke his hand punching a wall in the clubhouse.
The problem with Baldelli is that he was down for a year with a mystery ailment.
Ray, I think Manny’s pal, Julian Tavares, did the same thing. At least when Beckett and Papelbon punch coolers they don’t use their pitching hands.
I maintained from the off season that this is what a $200 million dollar team looks like during a rebuilding year. What I/they didn’t count on was the lack of production from the young pitchers that they were rebuilding around.
The only difference between the 2008 Yankees and the 2007 Yankees was an MVP season from Alex and a career year from Jorge. Expecting either of those things to happen every year is beyond realistic.
It will be interesting to see this off season if the Yankees stick with Plan A and just adjust it from a 3 year plan to a 4 year plan or whether they scrap it and move on to Plan B in 2009.
mel,
You are right….I forgot about Tavarez doing that!
Brett Gardner is similar to a Bubba Crosby type. What’s seen now is as good as he’ll ever get.
He’ll be part of a package in a winter deal as will Kennedy before their ceilings get lower.
What will be seen at High A Tampa and AA Trenton next year will comprise much of the next generation of Yankees.
I agree with the need to get younger and more athletic. I’d like to see two of the mid-30s LH hitting trio of Damon, Matsui and Abreu elsewhere with the remaining guy primarily a DH. That means finding two outfielders to go with Nady or one to go with Nady/Melky if they invst heavily in Teixiera. Damon has more trade value than Matsui and has a limited no-trade as opposed to Matsui’s full no trade. Abreu should be offered arbitration and if he accepts that complicates it even further.
Baldelli is an interesting thought. He hasn’t been completely healthy for a season since 2004, but he turns 26 and if all is well could really pay off on a low guarantee deal loaded with inventives.
Great opportunities/challenges ahead of Cashman and the Steinbrothers in better positioning this team for 2009 and beyond.
Baldelli’s ailment was similar to Chronic Fatigue Syn, and it kept his body from being able to heal itself, primarily his hamstring strain which took a year to get over. I am not sure whether they think that this ailment is behind him, or that he will be able to be a full time outfielder next year. If he can be, it isn’t a huge gamble to give him an incentive-laden deal, but they would probably need to have a backup plan in case he couldn’t keep up the workload.
Ray, I don’t think Quentin’s injury should knock him out of the MVP race. The played for 90+% of the season. That has got to count for something.
Laura,
It may not be fair but nearly all the sports shows I was listening to yesterday and most of them were not Red Sox or ESPN shows said this would effectively knock him out of the MVP race.
Yes, it has to count for something but when you stupidly break your wrist just when your team needs you the most counts for even more in a negative way IMO.
I didn’t think he was in the MVP race. I am pretty sure that Dustin Pedroia, or his unbelievable hand-eye coordination have already been given that trophy.
Laura,
You’re right that it shouldn’t, but it will. In addition, Pedroia plays on a high profile team and has been red hot in the last month. Timing and momentum have a lot to do with these things.
The award is Pedroia’s to lose, but I don’t have a problem if it’s deserving. If Quentin is a rookie he should get the ROY.
Anyone watching the Djokavic/Federer semifinal?
Laura,
I did a posting quite late last night that addressed a question you had.
It is actually quite easy for a Sox fan to stumble on this site without looking for it.
It is a link on Ian Browne’s Sox site that is prominently displayed on the official Sox web page.
Boys, I don’t demand much. I rarely criticize you for failing to perform as expected. I forgive. I excuse. I apologize.
(Though PLEASE, some one tell me why A-Rod invariably swings at the first-pitch in pressure situations, whether against Justin Masterson with runners on 1st and 3rd in the 7th or last night against Putz in the 9th when the guy couldn’t find the strike zone with a magnifying glas. WHY WHY WHY!!!!!)
This one time I implore you not to go quietly into the night. Please, keep fighting. If at the end of the day you lose the battle, you lose, but you’ll retain your pride and your dignity if you battle unto the very last.
One more run. One more streak to furnish a little extra drama. One more flourish before i begin counting the days until pitchers and catchers report. Is that too much to ask?
********************************************************
BTW, Baldelli was diagnosed with suffering from a rare disease that prevents the body from generating sufficient ATPs to replenish the energy it needs to subsist.
The maladyis related to chronic fatigue syndrome and Addison’s disease (which JFK suffered from and took amphetamines to combat), but the body’s muscles lack resilience and flexibility because they don’t received the energy the body typically generates with the breakdown of glucose and thus become more susceptible to injuries.
I can’t recall its name.
Mark,
Didn’t you hear? Bausch & Lomb is going to present the inaugural Golden Orb award to Pedroia. Not as prestigious as the Golden Glove or Silver Slugger awards, but Pedroia’s trophy case is filling up.
I don’t think that any more than @5 or 6 other SS get to that ball that A-Rod hit last night. Then it would have been a first pitch RBI single, tying run on first.
Will he be the first active HOFer?
Alex? Not clutch enough. Pedroia has a chance, though.
“Laura,

I must have left by the time you posted that. Is this Ian Browne site one that many Sox fans go to?
“Anyone watching the Djokavic/Federer semifinal?”
I am, mel. Federer has been off this year and he looks off in this match as well. I can’t wait for him to regain his form in 2009.
Laura,
I posted it very late because I went to the Trenton Thunder/Portland Sea Dog game last night.
Yes, that would be the same Ian Browne site that some Sox fans go to. The information that the site provides is good but it is nothing like this site. Several days can go by without a new posting and I hate to admit it but it just doesn’t come close to the energy on this blog.
I don’t know if it’s my anti-Sox bias or what, but I just don’t see how Pedroia’s stats are MVP worthy. Yes, he’s got a wicked high batting average, but he’s nowhere close to Quentin in HRs and 21st in RBIs.
People say that he’s been the savior for the Sox, but what about Pukelis and Drew? He hasn’t single handedly saved the Sox season. I think it’s the pro-Sox bias that now exists within the sports media that’s driving this Pedroia for MVP chant.
Laura,
I don’t cheer for Federer because I want the Sampras Majors record to stand.
Federer had mono and is probably still feeling the results of it. He’s making mental errors he would never make, though.
Djokavic should’ve won already, but his footwork is awful.
O/T but I can’t stand his girlfriend/financial manager for all kinds of unreasonable reasons. But do you know where they met? The Olympic Village in one of the past Olympiads. NBC was doing a spot on how there’s a lot of, uh, you know…And that was one of the celebrity hookups.
So Federer meets this girl at the Olympics. Let’s her manage his vast fortune and basically run his life. Too funny. shakes head

That’s our motto: We’re energetic!
“So Federer meets this girl at the Olympics. Let’s her manage his vast fortune and basically run his life. Too funny. ”
There is something odd about their relationship. I don’t know if you’ve read interviews that Fed gives, but he is extremely attached to this woman. Funny that he hasn’t married her yet…..
I think that the four main front runners for MVP will be Morneau, Youkilis and Pedroia, headed by Morneau. He didn’t have much offensive help besides Mauer. Youkilis’ numbers were just as unexpected and when Ortiz was out, it was his bat that replaced it. Not only that he played a sparkling defense at both corners, when they needed it most. Fourth will most likely be Quentin.
ray,
Tell her the real reason why you come here….Because you love us.
Aw shucks mel…I was too shy to say it!
“I think that the four main front runners for MVP will be Morneau, Youkilis and Pedroia, headed by Morneau.”
I haven’t been following the Twins so I haven’t noticed Morneau’s numbers. I still say that if CWS gets to the playoffs, Quentin should win. I live in Chicago so I’ve gotten to see him carry the team and get big hits when they needed them. The fact that he’s a putz and broke his own wrist is unfortunate, but should not be a deal breaker.
Laura,
I call her the laughing cow. Not that ever show her laughing. But why would they have footage of her going to the bank?
mel, don’t hate me, but I never carried for Sampras. I was always an Agassi girl. I have no problem with Fed breaking his record.
carried should have been cared
“I call her the laughing cow. Not that ever show her laughing. But why would they have footage of her going to the bank?”
LOL!!
If he does decide to pull the trigger and marry her, I hope he has the good sense to get a pre-nup. She strikes me as someone who is looking for a huge payday.
Laura,
The writers will look at how he broke his wrist. If it was a Matsui kind of injury then they might overlook it. But since it was self-inflicted then it might be held against him. I heard that banging his bat like that’s a habit?
“But since it was self-inflicted then it might be held against him. I heard that banging his bat like that’s a habit?”
Yes, he bangs his bat when he’s mad at himself for performing poorly. It was stupid for sure.
Laura,
I don’t know why, but I never cared for Agassi in his younger days. Maybe I felt he didn’t respect the game, didn’t care, didn’t train as hard as he should’ve. But as he got older and matured he won me over. Of course his off-the-court conributions are almost unparalleled. It was a real conflict for me watching that semifinal between Pete and Andre. But the good guy won.
mel, I know what you mean. I used to get so frustrated with Andre during his wild man days. But he got his act together and changed his life both on the court and off the court. He also married my favorite female tennis player of all time so that went in his favor as well.
Laura,
LOL on Roger getting married. I know this is crude, but why buy the cow, when you can get the milk for free?

Yeah, that was crude! Crude, but true.
“2009 rotation

I think that Andy is going to retire.
MVP should be between Sizemore and A-rod because they are the two guys who have the best pure numbers this season. Neither will be in consideration though which is dumb but thats just how it goes.
Well, I’m off to run errands. I’ll see you guys tonight for the game.
Laura, the difference is that Quentin has Dye and a likely Rookie Of The Year in Alexi Ramirez, along with a really good year Pierzynski. Ramirez’ numbers are a shocker, besides playing a good second base, shortstop and center field.
Cano should be going to the Instructional League.

Free milk tends to sour early.
GB7,
lol. Speaking from experience, eh?
Tampa not looking so hot nowadays. Toronto with the early 1-0 lead.
They finally made a hybrid of Santana and Liriano but he’s an outfielder. Makes no sense.
not really, Mel. Just ask my ex-wives.
What makes anyone think Ian Kennedy will be in the rotation next year? As far as I’m concerned, there’s questions about Hughes too. The Yankees need to find out why they are so poor at evaluating talent, especially pitchers.
Too many other teams have an edge in that regard.
Maybe you should volunteer your invaluable talent evaluation skills, JT. I can’t believe that you haven’t been hired, yet.
Doesn’t phil hughes have a lot of “poise and composure”? That’s got to worth something, right?
lol
lol
lol
Looks like Pinto as stripped a gear thinking again.
Come on Tampa Bay, why have you turned into offensive midgets?
Hey Pete (if you’re out there somewhere…)—-
Wouldn’t it make sense for the Yankees to have Joba pitch with Hughes in the AFL? They want to add innings onto Hughes’ arm, right? Isn’t Joba in the same situation? It’s hard for me to believe they are actually thinking of starting Joba off as a reliever again in 2009. I thought some scouts were of the opinion that the “switcheroo” may have caused Joba’s shoulder problem. Is anyone in YankeeLand thinking about this?
Toronto leading Tampa Bay
3-0 top of 5th
Rays losing. 3-0.
Hey GreenBeret, what is the current Yankees depth chart at pitcher. Who’s next after Pontoon fails today?
the yankees might end up in 4th place after this is all over.
Wouldn’t it be funny that the Yankees are so obsessed with catching the Red Sox and it turns out that Tampa totally collapses and gives the Yankees their best hope? Hey you never know. Stranger things have happened.
“2009 rotation

Joba (Rasner/Ponson until he is ready for the rotation)â€
Laura:
Unfortunately, the Yankees would likely have a 2009 finish similar to this season.
Pettite is too inconsistent and has lost much off his cutter.
Kennedy has proved nothing other than that he’s an AAA pitcher with ordinary stuff.
Hughes has been able to stay healthy – but his has No.2 potential.
I suspect that Joba’as future will be as (a) a Setup Man to Mo, and (b) the Closer who succeeds Mo. Because of his mechanics, he’s a candidate for shoulder and arm injuries. The Yankees would be wise to limit his pitches to the 2-seamer, 4-seamer and his devastating slider.
Sign Sabathia (for a maximum of 4/5 years) and things would turn around in a hurry!
Sabathia – Wang – Mussina (for another year) – Hughes and a tryout for No. 5 (Aceves/Horne/Kennedy/mcCutcheon/Marquez)
I know no one wants to hear it but Igauwa deserves another chance. He was named Pitcher of the year for Scranton/ Wilkesbarre and should be rewarded with a call up and maybe a few starts after the triple A season is over.
TIDROW
I said the same thing the other day and got shot down. Problem is Yanks have to start winning in order to make it really fun to hope for.
“the yankees might end up in 4th place after this is all over.”
Does 3rd or 4th really matter?
“Maybe you should volunteer your invaluable talent evaluation skills, JT. I can’t believe that you haven’t been hired, yet.”
Don’t know if I could do any worse than letting Ian Kennedy be the Santana deal buster!
Would Santana have really gotten this team over the hump? It just seems the funk that this team has been in this year is more powerful than any one player. I could be wrong but with the offense as anemic as it’s been i don’t think Santana would have been enough. I will wait a few years before i lament the fact this trade never came through. I still believe Hughes and Kennedy will redeem themselves given a fair opportunity to grow and develop.
