Where did I say Mexico was some jungle and all the other stuff you shoved into my words. You found an awful lot to get mad about in two short sentences.

Somehow you and your pal twisted those lines into a racist statement. You also mentioned that I’ve made negative comments in the past. That’s funny considering today was the first time I’ve ever posted on this or any other Yankee blog. Maybe you’re just wrong — and overly sensitive to any remark regarding any Mexican. If Aceves gets bombed by the Angels tonight, maybe you can accuse them of racism for hitting a Mexican’s fastball too hard.

For the last time, my dear friend, I know very well Aceves’ age. Why? Because he made his debut 6 years ago, at the age of 19, in my homeplace Mexican League team (Leones de Yucatán). It was a well documented debut……….

Someone suggested trading Matsui. Thats a bad idea. He’s hitting .350 this year w/RISP, .326 w/RISP and 2 outs, and .349 in close and late situations. He’s also coming off 2 seasons that he’s been hurt, so I don’t think they’d get much for him. Let him DH with Posada next year and possibly play first base, which he has publicly said he’s open to do.

Damon, on the other hand, could be a better option to trade. He’s done just as well as Matsui in those situations, but he would bring back more because he still has the range to cover centerfield. With that in mind, I’d say he’s our most valuable trade chip that isn’t being counted on down the road.

Again, your argument doesn’t follow. Saying you believe he is 25 because you believed he was 19 six years ago isn’t proof of his age. Next you’ll tell me that you knew he was 19 six years ago because you heard he was 18 the year before that. The same baseless assumption repeated over and over doesn’t bring you any closer to the truth.

Latino players like to shave a few years off their age to attract more MLB interest ($). Shall I rattle off the big names — that you already know? I first heard this from Cubans, Dominicans and Mexicans I played baseball with in North Bergen, NJ — a long time before this became common knowledge in the media. Being a baseball player himself, Alfredo’s father probably lied about his own age — and his son’s age — for the same reason. As for the wisdom of judging by appearance, I’m sure you thought Bronx Little Leaguer Danny Almonte — who was 2 feet taller than his teammates — and had a mustache — wasn’t lying about his age either. (He had a baseball father like Aceves, too)
How did that turn out?

p.s. When criticizing someone’s “inteligence”, it’s more effective if you yourself are smart enough to know how to spell that word correctly. But I guess I’ll be tagged as a racist since I’m expecting you to know English when posting to a blog — that’s written in English — for a newspaper — that’s written in English.

P.S. Next time you’ll say that there are no US citizens hiring latin americans (not just mexicans) who went to the US illegally. That’s a problem your “inteligence” will never understand. Do not even try to. You’re wasting your precious time.

This fact is clear and well documented.

Telling me Alfredo Aceves DOB proves nothing. All the players who lie produce some forged document that indicates that they’re younger.

It’s interesting that he’s been listed as short as 5′ 11” but as tall as 6′ 3” — and as light as 176lbs but as heavy as 230lbs. And if you look closely at his shaved head, you’ll see the horseshoe outline of a man who has already lost most of his hair — at age 25?? — not likely.

Maybe he’s Teddy Higuera’s brother.

So don’t try to hide behind bogus accusations of racism; Mexico has nothing to do with it — lying to get a contract or more money is the issue. Next you’ll say that there are no Mexicans who came to the US illegally.

Jorge, don’t worry about it. Some people, no matter their nationality, insist on acting juvenile. I’ve been to Mexico several times, and I love the people there. Very friendly and accommodating when treated with respect, which is how everybody should act anyway.
