Intriguing notion for Manny to return to his roots. The need for Manny increases with each passing game as the ineptitude and inconsistency is apparent even to the uninformed. If the offense is to improve, Manny may be the only big game in town. Even assuming Tex would leave the Angels for big $$$ and a long term deal it might not make sense; Arod, with 9 years remaining gets bulkier, slower, less agile (even clutzier) each day, and his years as an acceptable third baseman are numbered..2 to 3 more at the most. Jeter obviously has fallen off defensively and at the most he has a like number remaining. Where are two to play? DH and 1b where everybody is chomping at the bit to play given the across the board declining skill level of virtually all our overage guys....Matsui (I can play first, I've played it in Little League), Johnny D (I can play anywhere, I just want to play, and I promise you I will not drop the ball),Jorge, who will probably have a percentage caught stealing rate of 10% at the most, and no one will want to pitch to him, Abreu, (when management finally realizes that his wall phobic tendencies and related defensive foibles can no longer be carried by his excellent arm),when he indeed comes to the realization that nobody wants him at a number within mailing distance of his outrageous current stipend. It indeed is and will be a logjam, especially if Cashman is back. Tex, as good as he is, simply complicates matters, mainly due to the Arod and Jeter scenarios some 2-4 years hence. Manny makes great sense if his actions in Beantown (other than shoving the elderly gentleman which is inexcusable)were viewed in the context that "it is Boston" which is not known for treating its fallen heroes fairly...check with Nomar, Pedro, Clemens, Vaughn. I live in LA (tho of couse NOT a Dodger fan as I remain loyal to my roots) and have appreciated first hand what Manny has meant both on the field and in the clubhouse....it's a clean slate. If you have any doubts check out the articles @LATIMES.com, particularly those of T.J. Simers. Will LA make an acceptable offer? Highly unlikely as McCourt is as penurious as they come particularly after getting burned by Jones, Schmidt and Pierre. If the Yankees want him, they probably have him. They need him in the most compelling of ways. When it's clutch time, no one compares to the ManRam. If you don't mind a guy who looks like he's dressed for a pajama party, he is the man and should be here next year to allow the Yankees to compete to reclaim the "mantle" of the late 90's.

trish,
Well be assured that you and your ex will not fix things if you take him to that game. Driving 3 hours to a AAAA game with someone who isnt a fan wont be a delight. Good luck.

"actually, i found that to be quite interesting. thanks trisha … now what should the yanks do to appease the angry ghosts?"

Dennis thanks! And that's a good question. I wonder if we can think of something that makes sense. The best of the best of the Yanks have played on that field.

:(

Will be back shortly.

S.O.S. I hear ya. And I will. No way anyone is going to want to buy the tickets from me! My ex is coming into town and wants to do the "can we make this thing work out" thing. He doesn't hate the Yankees as much as he hates my love for the Yankees :) So anyway I talked him into going to the game with me. When I did I thought we had more of a shot of making the playoffs than we do now. I'm sure that this trek will be beyond painful for him. My Yankee thing was always a thorn in his side.

Nice to see Josh Beckett being less than automatic.

Be back.

I think they should have kept the Ortiz jesey. Pissed on it and re-burried it. That would do the reverse effect.

"Since we’re an ancient, tired team anyway, let’s trot out the following rotation: Camus, Rabelais, Rousseau, Hugo, and Voltaire. Marie Antoinette will be the closer. She can fake with the ball and then throw her head towards home plate."

Laughing til tears came out of my eyes, especially about Marie Antoinette! I have to do the shower after workout thing but will then come back and watch the Sux game. I hope to have a team of ancients that will top yours, with a kicker at the end of course!
