terpbomber, the Yanks/Mets thing goes back a ways at this point too. If the Mets win it all, I know I'd never hear the end of it from all the Mets fans I know, especially after rubbing it in so hard in 2000. They're still not over that. In the AL, I wouldn't mind seeing Tampa or Minnesota, but I'd be rooting for the Cubs and Brewers. It's hard to root for any NL West team because they all have close to losing records, but I wouldn't mind if the Dodgers won. I'd feel good for Torre, and truth be told if they were still in Brooklyn I probably would have grown up a Dodger fan like my grandma. I don't feel any of that old time rivalry with the Dodgers or Giants, but it's strong with the Mets. As it is, I'm rooting for the Phillies to knock off the Mets again. I've grown tolerant of Jerry Manuel, but I don't like the way they treated Willie and I am absolutely fed up with Omar Minaya. I got enough indication of what kind of man he is when I saw him have to try and recover the fumbling of the Willie situation in the media.

It might have done them good to watch.

WHATEVER PETE!! The Yankees know how to clinch a playoff spot you're acting like they've never been to the post season before when this is the first time in how many years they haven't made it. No team makes it every year not even the mighty Yankees.

Speaking of teams to root for with the Yankees all but gone. Well, I'm going against the grain on this one. I'm not a Mets hater (unless they play the Yankees, of course). I really don't care about the rivalry since they're not in the same division. And I'm not vain if they go all the way; I'd rather see another championship for NYC, regardless of team, than any other city.

Most of the teams that are in contention I couldn't care less about, so I wouldn't mind seeing the Mets wipe them out. Don't want to see Tampa win because if they actually become good they will prevent the Yankees from achieving their rightful place next time. Twins? Eh. White Sox? Maybe, because Thome really deserves a ring by now with the team hopping he's done. However, Griffey Jr. is still an immature punk, so no to them. D'backs? Absolutely not!

I absolutely do NOT want to see the Dodgers win, with all due respect to Torre. The Yankee/Dodger thing goes back a long way, and I'm still annoyed about 1981! I'm sure some Yankee fans would like to see Torre bring his winning ways yet again to show what a mistake Steinbrenner Part Deux and Cashman made. But perhaps true to Torre form, he'll just bungle the first round and leave it at that.

"It might have done them good to watch."

The Yanks have seen more than enough of the Angels celebrating on the field since 2002.

bruce

A guy gets booed by 50,000 people in his home stadium, blamed for everything short of global warming and still wins 2 MVP awards in 4 years is too sensitive for you? You must hang with a very tough crowd.

but apparently you must be a psychologist who knows about these things so my bad.
